The rumors indicate SE2 is targeted at India, Indonesia, and SE Asia.
Where did you get that from. All the article said was that it would be BUILT in India. I saw nothing about targeting those countries. If I am wrong please post where you got your info.

please apple give the new SE updated casing like the iphone 8, but keep the size exactly the same as the SE= PERFECT phone

I don't want a thinner phone, and I don't want the rounded edges. The headphone jack for me is meh. That being said, the size/shape is perfect as is. If they make it thinner and rounder, they will ruin what the SE was all about.

in the run up to the holidays this year, iPhone SE sold just 2 percentage points less than the iphone 8 according to a MR/ Flurry Analytics post so that tells us that the demand is there.
If this is true, and the rumor that the 7 outsold the 8...
Apple's lineup, by sales, is iPhone 7, iPhone SE, iPhone 8. I'm not sure where the X falls in all of this, but that's pretty poor showing for both of Apple's flagship phones.

Keep the existing form factor, drop an edge to edge OLED/AMOLED with Face ID module like iPhone X, add an under screen Touch ID (VIVO already has it), implement wireless "charging at distance" technology FCC just approved (that's what the PowerbyProxi acquisition was for, right?), and viola the real revolutionary phone I'm willing to dish out $1000 for. Maybe it won't be the SE 2 but why not make a killer XSE or SE X?

I'd love a SE2 with improved camera, internals and newer TouchID, but remain in a compact form.
Maybe they could increase the screen size slightly due to smaller bezels.

Hope it has no FaceID and no camera bump tough.
The later could be covered with a thicker shell or even better, a larger capacity battery on the inside ;)

I have trouble believing that.

the fact that it is a 6 year old chassis, a design that stands the test of time, is why it is relevant.
Apple has a winner when it comes to the iPhone 5 chassis.
people like the way the device feels in their hands, pockets and purses

I hope the update has:

- no headphone jack (haters are gonna be coming at me)
- no induction charging
- Face ID
- 3D Touch
- X internals

I suppose there is something to be said for that (I kept my 5S for 4 years in my pocket). I was thinking along the lines of an image thing ... not letting designs grow stale. (I'm also looking at you iMac). ;) To each their own though.

"The sources said that Wistron will ship to the Indian market first before providing the products to consumers in other markets."

I can't seem to find anything saying that it would be Indian market or regions in that part of the world only (and never to USA).
Is that said somewhere?

It's in the original Chinese source in the image I attached.

MacRumors writers can't read Chinese so they're only communicating half the story.

Can you point me to the exact line?
I still can't find it when plugging it into Google Translate (maybe it's translating wrong?)

Also, are we sure Wistron is the only manufacturer of an SE2 or just one of them?

In my opinion it is as modern and beautiful as it looked 6 years ago. Unbeatable tool.

It is still a beautiful device (I used my 5S for 4 years), but I'm thinking in terms of a company keeping its image fresh. I don't want them to change what works for change's sake, but surely they can build on the 5's chassis in some new way.

I'm thinking company image: move forward (the iMac has been static for 5 years too).

A lot of people argue the form factor as ideal... near perfection. For example, even smallish stuff such as the ability to set up a timer photo and put it on it's side for the shot. Everything since went so rounded (edges) that it generally took a (select) case to try to do the same.

I'll chime in on the desire to keep the headphone jack too. Keeping it has no cost to those who favor bluetooth or lightning- they work too. But those of us that would like to share least common denominator headphones among our devices, headphone is still by far the king.

If we have to have an aesthetics change, what about keeping the form factor but shrinking the bezels? In other words, fill more of the available space on the front with screen while leaving the rest as is. That gets us the same compact form factor with a bigger screen.

I think the modern iPhones look sharp and all but I agree that 5-SE design was- in my opinion- the very best design to date. I wish I could get the X "front" & guts in that exact kind of case with a headphone jack. Instead, it's buy the X and then hope to get a comparable case that might also bring a headphone jack.
