My new Pro lays perfectly flat. If you have one that is bowed or curved, or have PERSONAL experience with this, please post a picture. I truly suspect this is quite the non-story.
This is no different than politicians telling you everything is OK, while they proceed to f everything up for their own benefit.
Seems pretty straightforward. If it’s outside of the 400 microns it’s a defect and gets replaced I’d assume?
No it doesn't. Just stop, Apple. Design over functionality is becoming a problem if this is your response.
It is clear from the photos that these out-of-the-box bowed iPad Pros are like nothing seen before. Apple even admits that some are coming out of manufacturing in a bowed condition. If Apple's 400 micron flatness standard is tighter than for previous generations of iPad, yet isn't good enough for posters here, then iPad flatness standards were never good enough. If they were never good enough, why did any of you ever buy an iPad?
If there are iPads failing to meet that standard out of the box, I presume Apple would replace them.
Exactly, they've set what their expectations are. Any device with more than a 400 micron deviation is outside the tolerances.Seems pretty straightforward. If it’s outside of the 400 microns it’s a defect and gets replaced I’d assume?

Apple's Dan Riccio's statement doesn't directly address the issue. He is talking about the standards and tolerances but NOT saying that those bowed iPad Pros are within those standards. He is leaving the connecting of dots as an exercise for the reader.
