To all the people predicting an "A7X" processor in the new iPads: Please stop! After months of that, when there is no A7X, all the trolls are going to be screaming: "Epic Fail!!"

There will be no A7X. The A5X and A6X were necessary because the A5 and A6 didn't have the graphics horsepower to run the higher pixel-count iPad displays. That's why Apple put this killer quad-core GPU in the A7, so the same chip could be used across the whole product line.

Please don't give the idiots ammunition for their lying crap.

Maybe A7 without the X is powerful enough to drive the 2048 x 1536 display given that its graphic capabilities is similar to that of the A6X?

2048x1536 is more than 4x the number of pixels to push compared to the 1136x640 screen on the iPhone 5S. No matter how you slice it, it will result in worse maximum performance unless the GPU is significantly beefed up.

Please read what I just posted, and I'm not an idiot. Using the same chip to drive more than 4x pixels would result in worse performance compared to the iPhone 5S. Simple math.

First gen? That must be crazy slow.

Actually I think it's okay. I am also using 1st gen for myself and 3rd gen for my boy. And looking for the 5th gen to replace his and then I can use 3rd gen. Yes. It's slow compared to the latest device. But for those games/news/movies I used that for, it's good enough. The biggest problem is it can only run 5.1.1 and quite many news apps can't run on that.

Apple doesn't care about the computer anymore. Look at how long they let the Mac Pro languish without any significant updates. That's why they removed "Computer" from the company name and are now Apple, Inc.

Apple has turned into a great gadget company. Mastering the art of ultra high profits, they'd probably benefit if they quit the computer business. Every iOS device is so small they'd have more room for inventory in their stores.

Most everything the consumer does can be handled by an iOS gadget.

I am so stoked to see the reveal of the Mac Pro. I just hope the base one is $2500 or less. $2000 would be amazing, but I kinda doubt it.

I've been waiting for the retina MBP 13" and retina iPad Mini since WWDC. IMO, Mavericks have been specifically engineered with the rMBPs in mind. Better scrolling, battery life etc. We can pretty much guess the updates for rMBPs and my only wish is to have a black option. That way, MacBooks are visually gonna be perfect.

I'll hold off if iPad Mini doesn't come with a retina display this time around. Because in that case, Apple will probably come up with a retina version sometime in spring 2014. I think it is very likely that iPad Mini will have A6 variant inside. But the deciding factor between A6 and A7 chips for iPad Mini will simply be the TouchID. Since A7 has a separate section on the die for TouchID, Apple will be using A7 in iPad Mini if they want to incorporate the fingerprint tech.

So much for the 15th :/

They should have just asked me... I predicted the 22nd was the date back on Sep 10... :D

https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/17863285/

Of course, the math wasn't super tough... I am sure several hundred thousand others guessed the same...

My prediction... Mini will continue to be the red headed step-child, and will get last years cpu (A6) and top out at 64GB. It will not get a retina screen this year. As Apple's low-cost tablet, it will continue to be sharply differentiated in price AND capabilities compared to the ipad.

Shaking my head at the gullible sheep in this thread now hoping for Touch ID in every Mac gadget. You know where this is heading right? If the NSA aren't collecting fingerprints at the present time, there's no telling when Apple will recieve a secret court order demanding Apple to start collecting and turning over all finger prints without the consent and knowledge of the users. Have you myopic people learned anything at all from the revelations these last months?

I don't really care about this even if your conspiracy theories are true.

The thing about the NSA collecting transaction data and emails and breaking into encryption didn't surprise me (reminds me of Digital Fortress too), but if they can pull off secretly taking every person's fingerprint (and if Apple agrees to risk losing a ton of customers for a bribe from the government), then I'll be impressed.

NICE!!!!!

Can't wait for MacPro's and hopefully new redesigned ACDs.

And maybe cheaper ACDs. I know some people have also been complaining that they want a matte one.

The 5th-generation iPad with its A7X SoC, Retina Display and iPad mini-like case design is pretty much confirmed.

HOWEVER, I have my doubts that Apple will unveil the 2nd-generration iPad mini with the Retina Display, for the following reasons:

1. It would too much cannibalize sales of the full-sized iPad.
2. Nobody inside the likes of DigiTimes or other online news sources that report on electronics parts suppliers in eastern Asia have noted a major spike in production of Retina Display quality 7.9" touchscreen panels. It should be noted that production levels for the Google Nexus 7 and Amazon Kindle HDX high-definition smaller touchscreen panels aren't anywhere close to the production levels needed to produce the 7.9" panel for future iPad mini models.

I expect the iPad mini with Retina Display to not arrive until around late February 2014, since the production of the 7.9" Retina Display touchscreen may not start until the beginning of January 2014.

My theory on the Mini

Non-Retina IPad mini upgrade to A6 and price reduced to $279-$299
Retina IPad mini A7X price at $399-$450 for 16GB

I'm running iOS 6 on my 3rd gen iPad and I have frequent app crashes and constant tab refreshes in Safari. iOS 6 was not a flawless release.

Well I don't think any OS release is flawless but I don't experience any of those issues with iOS7. Maybe your iPad just isn't up for the task of running such an up to date OS.

Could be a silent update for Mac Mini and Mac Book Pro
and then 2 events?
One the 22 for Ipads and one ( when ? )
for Maverick and Mac Pro...
even if for me would just make more sense to put
Mac Mini and Mac Book Pro in the Mac Pro-Maverick one...
or just all Ipad,Osx-Mini,laptops and Pro together the 22.

If apple will not
Introduce retina iPad mini, it will be a disaster for them.
They can't afford another simple iPad mini iteration.

I Bet:
  1. No Update for iPad Mini, if any update will include Retina Display.
  2. New std Size iPad with Touch ID, A7X, 8Mpx camera, Same iPhone 5S Colors.
  3. New MacBook Pros's With Haswell IGZO screens and revised Unibody.
  4. MacPro Official Release
  5. 32" Thunderbolt Display with 4HD (or 5HD) not 27".

I think all of Apple fans will be in heaven if this comes true.

All I need is an iPad mini w/ Retina (preferably the newer processor) and I'm all set. Love the form factor, just wasn't a fan of the non-retina for the tablet.
