But the original argument was the platform exclusives of the 'best' software. So, in this case, I do think that some of the best games exist only on Windows (and some do not appear on consoles). But maybe that's another debate for another day.

Fair enough, I'm sure those of us who use our Macs to pay the bills can live with the fact that there are better games available on a PC.

And if people on Macs wanted to play games anyway its just as easy to run Boot Camp. Personally I just use my X-Box 360, as I find games more fun on a 32" TV than a 13" screen.

At it again eh? How trite.

Posting a video on YouTube in which ONE person complains that their (plastic) white MacBook is cracked doesn't prove any thing. After watching her tirade, it seems more obvious that she damaged it herself and is looking for a free fix.

Regardless of how it happened, such incidents are not exclusive to Apple, plastic cracks, it happens. I've seen many Dell and HP cases with cracks and wear and tear from normal use. Lastly, she claims the laptop is fairly new. REALLY? As any one here may know, the white MacBook's are known for showing dirt around the palm rests. NO WAY could she have accumulated that much dirt in just a few shorts weeks (unless she is very unkempt).

I call b.s.

So what happened to Apple's "build quality" and "customer service". Apple costs more than Dells and HPs so you can't use that "Dell and HP cracks too" excuse, since if you pay more, you should get a better quality machine, which in her case she didn't. I hope she enjoys her next PC.

Why would anyone buy a Mac just to run Windows. Also why would a mac user buy a Microsoft product like Xbox360 considering they claim MS sucks all the time. Hypocrite much?

You wouldn't buy a Mac just to run windows. For the professional end I use OS X for everything from web design to graphic and video design. I would, however, boot into Windows to play some games - though I'm not much of a PC gamer anymore.

...I claim MS sucks all the time? I adamantly defend them in all these bashing threads and am one of few Zune-defenders.

I know a few Mac users with Xbox 360s. One doesn't buy a Mac "just to run Windows". One buys a Mac to run OS X, and uses Boot Camp to run the occasional Windows-only program once-and-a-great-while, for example web developers who need to test their pages in IE. But you knew that already. Quit trolling. ;)

I somehow secretly deduced this user would start arguing...

I like how Apple has managed to keep it's cool - they address the M$ ads without actually really addressing them, if you know what I mean. And they don't resort to some lame presentational change and go all serious; They keep the same characters everyone's used to.

Apple peeps go all riled up over Lauren, I'd love to see the PC fanboys get all worked up now..

..and they released it on American Idol for 30 millions viewers. :) They couldn't have picked a better time and place to air them.

Because (like with the Zune), Microsoft doesn't blatantly advertise it as a Microsoft product. MS branding on these two items is quite minimal (if at all). You'll be unlikely to find the Microsoft name on an Xbox commercial. And you will only find it in small print on Xbox packaging.

They distanced the product from the MS name for a reason.

Nope, i work in a support center and it is quite rare. I see myself only one time with an old iBook with non certified ram, never seen one again on recent years on all the ammchine i had.
It's usually browser related and much more common under Leopard. I've never seen Windows choke and need a hard reboot from a browser lock up like OS X does. This is using either Safari or FireFox.

Another cause is my Macbook waking out of the blue while closed. This is with no external input devices attached. It'll be closed shut asleep and it'll wake up with a black screen. You can't ssh or VNC into it and your only option is to reboot it. Nothing gets logged and I lose uptime.

You'll watch your TV the way Apple wants you to and like it.
Apparently I'm supposed to be buying off of the iTunes store instead of enjoying digital over the air.

Even more common...

What's worse is when the mouse pointer is stuck as that regardless of the application and even when Finder is in focus. You try to Force Quit applications and even that beachballs.

If I want a laptop with a 17' screen it still costs more than twice as much to get a mac book pro than a comparable pc w. a 17inch screen.

I'm probably willing to pay 25-50% extra for the mac experience I am not willing to pay 120% extra....

Also crashing/viruses become a bit of a non problem if you actually know how to work with windows, have a second hd to back stuff up etc.

It's still an MS product. And EVERYONE knows it's an MS product. So why do so many mac users buy something from MS, a company they despise so much?

Saying Vista sucks is not saying, everything Microsoft do sucks.

Well, I guess you haven't seen the posts saying how much Zune sucks just because it's from Microsoft.

Well you called me a hypocrite for hating on Microsoft, when I do nothing of the sort.

They're companies, and company loyalty is for fanboys - which I am not. I admit when a product is good regardless of who makes it.

Vista has some nice features is so darn slow it's insane. I don't know how MS released this and hasn't had a class action suit over it. I'm running a Intel E8400, dual core, 3.0 ghz, and 4GB of dual channel RAM and XP on the same just blows it out of the water. I so wish they would have gone the snow leopard route with XP and then add a few of vista's good features.

This may come as a shock to you - but a Mac is a PC. You got lucky with that wine, it poses an equal risk to Macs as it does to Windows machines. Also, your girlfriend should be more careful with what sites she visits, judging by the context of your message I imagine you and her frequent myspace a lot.

roflmao......

Which is why I wont be getting another mac untill they significantly discount the mac tax...

My MacBook is chugging along just fine. I don't see a need to replace it when it's mostly for image tagging and iTunes.

Software is interesting this year with Snow Leopard and Windows 7. I'll wait for WWDC before deciding on Snow Leopard. From the Release Candidate I might be in line for Windows 7 at launch or at least getting an OEM copy.

To be honest, the only reason vista feels slow compared to xp is because with xp, you're using the latest and greatest in hardware when xp was meant to run on p3 and p4s. That's a huge evolution in hardware. I am sure if you ran vista in 9-10 years time, on thens hardware, it would feel as snappy as xp.

As for Xbox360, I wonder if Mac users that have them, feel guilty of directly contributing to MSs success. I mean they had the chance to bring down MS by choosing the PS3 and making Xbox a failure, but they went with Microsoft that they hate so much. I never understood this.

Kernal Panic

I myself have only seen this on my PowerMac G4 after installing questionable RAM or a weak PCI, Once the issue was corrected, system ran like a dream. I have only had it happen, maybe 2-4 times in many years of Mac OS user experience. My first system was a 520c which my iPhone beats easily (Wow look how far we have come).

My first desktop was a PC, and it was a total POS. The best thing about Apple, to me is the marriage of hardware and software, I don't have to wonder on "if" it's going to work, "if" I have the right drivers. Overall it's a better user experience. And I'll agree Microsoft Office stinks on a Mac, but it stinks on a PC. I use pages, numbers, and keynote- and they allow me to present and communicate my thoughts and ideas seamlessly. As Apple has said, and Mac users find true, "A cheap computer has no value if it doesn't do what you want."

These Ad's hit the point. Although it happen occasionally, it's still safe to say Mac doesn't "suffer" from crashes.

Again with the generalisations. I don't like Vista. I've never used a Zune so can't comment. I like the Xbox 360. I like office 2007, I don't like office 2008. Putting everyone who disagrees with you into one column and making a huge generalisation about what they are saying is a really lazy way to try and win an argument.
By the way I also like Win 7, just not as much as Leopard.

I have both a PS3 and 360. But my I still make sure to pay my "Apple Tithing";)

Funny, how in 3 years of owning my macbook I saw that screen only 2 times. Wonder what's the PC ratio.

There is no such thing as a "crash free" or "trouble free" computer. However, I can say that in the three years of running a Mac and the two years of running Linux before then, I did significantly less rebooting than the Windows machines I ran hand in hand. (Mind you, short of bad hardware, I haven't had a blue screen for no obvious reason since Windows 98.)

One of the biggest differences is a misbehaving program. Hard locks and unrecoverable problems were much, much, much more common in Windows. Programs crash on my Mac too but they don't tank the whole system. That's the primary difference in stability.

I've seen that screen a couple times too. (Well, more than that.) It was most common for me right after the switch to Intel. Anymore, the only time I see it is when doing weird stuff while virtualizing and mucking with the hardware. Like, doing some hard compiling and then plug in or unplug the external monitor or put the computer to sleep by closing it. And even then, maybe once every other month.

OS X ain't perfect but anyone inferring that the average OS X setup is going to be as crash prone and problem prone as the average Windows setup is ridiculous.

By this argument Win 7 should feel a lot slower that Vista, but somehow they made it far less sluggish.
