I've been using XP for > 5 years, and seen blue screens - err - once I think.

Yet Safari crashes half a dozen times a day.

Apples claim that Mac's do not crash is A LIE. Pure and simple.

Funny I've been using XP since 2001, and I remember days were I saw the blue screen of death at least 4 or 5 times. Simply put windows is really only good for checking email and surfing the Internet.

As someone else already said, Mac fan != MS hater.

You have to admit the majority of mac fans hate MS and anything to do with MS by default. Just look at the signature of Sehnsucht for example.

I wonder if the mac fans that bought the 360 subconsioucly feel guilty of betraying Apple. :D

Or maybe they bought a 360 knowing that MS was initially taking a loss on each unit sold

If 200 million people bought a PS3 tomorrow and burned them straight away I'm sure Sony would suffer a massive loss!

'Elimination' is the same old schtick, unfortunately: Apple smugly attacking Windows ME, 98 and earlier.

BSODs have been incredibly rare on Windows since XP was released with the Windows NT/2000 series kernel. A real Windows user may experience an app falling over, but, they just kill it with Task Manager and move on. Viruses are rare if you keep your AV software up to date (using either a commercial product or one of the many excellent free AV suites) and exercise some basic common sense.

There are lots of things Apple could and should be pointing to, but, harping on about flaws from vintage operating systems released over ten years ago isn't going to gel with any current Windows user's real-world experiences. They really need to do some current-era market research and tap into Windows users current-day gripes.

As I said before, if you're going to use Macrumors users as an representative example of all Mac users I suggest you take a statistics class. Those who take the time to join and post on an Apple-centric site are already an enthusiast for that company. There will be some that aren't fanboys, but you'll find a higher concentration of fanboys here than in the general population.

Windows 7 is definitely shaping up to be the best version of Windows ever. It's so good I am actually considering switching back to the Microsoft platform. Like a lot of Mac users, I spend the majority of my time in bootcamp anyway running a Windows OS just so I can run the best software.

I could sell my old Macs, buy brand new PCs with the money and have still have change.

But I will wait for the final version of Windows 7 to hit retail before I make a decision. Microsoft has a history of messing things up in the final stages of the development process.

Wow. A post so loaded with unfounded assertions, leaving aside that W7 is "shaping up to be the best ever". You're just trolling. Go away--and don't use words like "a lot" when you mean "just a few".

That doesn't even make sense. Why would MS making a loss would make them buy it? Surely if they didn't buy it, MS would have made and even greater loss. The loss was only due to the RRODs. Now mac fans always go on about how reliable hardware is worth paying premium for and yet buy the unreliable 360 instead of the far more reliable and capable PS3. It's strange. Hypocrisy all around.

These are so propaganic and misleading!

If Microsoft chose to be a monopolistic hardware and software company like Apple, PCs might not crash as often. Speaking of crashing, I can't remember the last time my Vista PC crashed or froze or didn't do anything I wanted it to do... and I was able to CHOSE my hardware vendors and build my own. All for less than half of what a comparable Mac would have cost.
Instead of countering false advertising with false advertising of their own, Apple should reconsider their business practices. There's a reason why consumers chose PCs over Macs: choice.

Why are people hammering Microsoft for not using Windows to create their ads??

I went on a tour of Pixar, now isnt it more embarrassing that I didnt see a SINGLE MAC there??? Jobs is the CEO, couldnt he have gotten them a discount?

hahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahaha

Can someone explain?

Duh. Pixar different company. Is that clear enough?

Another example of mac fan's hypocrisy is the Dell hate but many of them buy a Dell display instead of a Apple for the sole reason it's cheaper. But wait, what happened to the premium hardware worth paying for?

You're just a troll - if you were really interested in debating you'd actually respond to people's statements. That said, I own a Dell monitor, XBox 360, and just got a Zune off woot. I'm a fan of Apple products, but still recognize good products when I see them.

And I suppose you have evidence to back up this claim that Mac fans prefer 360s to PS3s?

Go to the console section of the video games subforum in here and see the popularity of each. It's obvious that for some strange reason, even though mac fans hate MS, they still choose to buy the Xbox instead of buying a PS3 and hitting MS where it hurts. One chance to hurt MS and they blew it.

You probably have some updates to do ...

I have several updates to do, I've been waiting for an application or something to futz up and me to have to restart. I've got an applescript that fires up terminal and snaps an uptime screenie every night so I can say. "Well, my computer ran fo ###days without crashing." Oh, and my computer runs 24/7 and I do some pretty heavy work on it.

And people still blame windows for third party related crashes. go onto irc and you will find pcs with uptime of nearly a year or more as well
Yeah, the only time My mac Ever crashed, and this is the AUG/06 Mac Pro, was when I played fast and loose with the multithreading in an app I was writing and multiple processor cores tried to access a memory address simultaneously.

They didn't (and could not) respond to the central theme of all the Microsoft ads and that was PRICE. :)

They certainly could in the sense that for an equally comparable product, the price will be similar, as is demonstrated here http://technologizer.com/2009/03/31/hey-lauren-is-apples-17-inch-macbook-pro-expensive/

However that would involve 2 things:

1. Too technical for a "it just works" brand image.

2. Apple would be on the defense, when you need to be on the offensive. Apple cannot counterpoint Microsoft's commercials, just as Microsoft don't counterpoint Apple's. This is advertising suicide.

Apples claim that Mac's do not crash is A LIE. Pure and simple.

If your Safari is crashing 6 times a day, you have something seriously amiss with your other software. I think THAT'S a lie.

Get rid of your crapware (and you know what it is) and watch crashes disappear. Mine has crashed (hung up) about twice in 6 years on four computers used all day, every day.

Apple never said Macs don't crash. That's you speaking. It's just not seemingly a feature, as it is on Windows. Even DOD and NSA computers crash.
