True. Altough when they say MS it's still MS as a whole they hate and not a particular branch of MS. For example in a Zune thread they will still say MS sucks. Office thread, they will still say MS sucks. Anything to do with MS, they will say MS sucks.
Who are "they" anyways? "They" being all Mac users, right? Or let's just say "all Mac users posting in this thread". Your strawman arguments continue...

LagunaSol or JournoJulz or DMann for example.

I can list a number of deficits with the Mac UI. like having to first focus on a window just to access it's menu bar thus making you click more. in windows i can jump from a menu bar to a menu bar..

Nothing is perfect, but for every occasion where windows is better, i can find many more where it isn't

MS got the world domination that Apple couldn't by releasing great products at price points that consumers liked.

they go world domination by bundling software for people on a budget

macdonalds is a great company for making money, but that does not hinge on the quality of its food.

Apple was too arrogant and didn't have the vision to succeed.

Apple is a success, it exists and make good looking products.

Market share alone is one form of success, so is good products.

Otherwise one could arge that hyundai is better than BMW - top pick an example almost at random.

And thanks for the youtube clip - you may also enjoy one of the many results for "vista launch blue screen death"

And yet with all this in mind they go out and buy MS products. Wierd.

Yeah. Like most people believe in the same gods and monsters as they were brought up with.

If noone was told about religion till they were 18 and were given a tour of the different ones and a free choice - maybe there would be a shift in religious demographics?

Would like to see the laptop hunters get equivalent machines for similar prices and see which OS/hardware combination they choose at the end of a month.

There is you have it dejo, from the horses mouth.
I never claimed that their branded mouse sucks, it's actually pretty good - I don't currently have the need for one. The company's standards, as a whole, leave little to be desired - their line of software reflects this.

What's your point. Macs cost more than PC and should by default have better QA which obviously they don't have.

Well the problem is the hate is not being thrown towards a particular subset of MS, but MS as a whole. So you see people claiming M$ SUCKS! M$ IS EVIL etc. while happily giving MS their money for products like xbox etc.

it should be more like " ms is a good company but vista is bad" but you never get that from a Mac user, even ones with MS products. It's always "MS sucks. Apple rulz."

you seem to keep on repeating this same argument that idiots that say "M$ sucks also buy xbox 360's, simply this is not true
I own a PS3 and a Wii and I hate the 360...it breaks, it is overated in terms of games (ooooh online-big whoop and similar games or the same games as teh PS3)

And it is alos not that I love Apple, some people that work in their stores are idiots and nasty (my experience) nor do i love Nintendo or Sony......i just dont like the reliabilty of any of MS's products...
zunes freeze, xboxes rrod and windows has a myriad of problems...so therefore i dont like MS................

but keep on going with your generalities and people that dont exist.

I never cease to be amused when people trot out market share to show that Apple is a failure or needs to release a cheaper product.

Apple's stock price is astronomical compared to its competitors and they are sitting on a cash reserve that most other tech companies would give their eye teeth for. Despite the recession, Apple still gained market share.

Clearly, the executives at Apple know what they are doing. People who had Apple stock when it was first issues are all now very rich men.

for a price of a base mini (+ monitor) (+ price of bootcamp + windows license to play games and run windows only software), you can easily get a quad core gaming machine. I know which one I would choose.

Which is a choice I can respect but personally disagree with. Why is it that you can't afford me the same courtesy?

So you're telling me, if you won a lottery and for a prize you could choose between a mac mini, or a PC with top of the range i7 cpu, nvidia graphics, maxed out ram and hd. you would still pic the mac mini just because it has os x?

oh wait it just broke

(on top of that "gaming" machines are outdated the second you build/buy them)

No, I wouldn't because spec and price wise the two would not even be remotely comparable. This example is just another in a long string of strawman arguments you have been putting up.

Now, choosing between the new 8 core Pros and the same PC you spec'd out I would choose the Mac.

You accuse us of unabashed hatred of Microsoft yet you display the same hatred of Apple. How is one brand of hatred better than the other?

Price of Boot camp? No charge for Boot Camp - it comes with OS X, which the quad core gaming machine would not be capable of running, out of the box, that is.

erm no you just won a raffle/lottery and you have a choice between two prizes. the price doesn't come into it. on the other hand in my previous example you went for a dual core mini with anemeic graphics than a quad core gaming machine. so it's not at all that different.

Then give me two comparable prizes to pick from.

The point of this example is to show that the PC is the better value because, from your earlier point, you can get a quad core gaming machine for the same price as the mini plus monitor and Windows. My counter to this is spec out a gaming machine for $599 (excluding monitor) and it will not be a top of the line i7 with high quality Nvidia graphics and maxed out ram/hard drive. It would, rather, be something like this (which is actually more expensive and does not include a monitor):

http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/desktop-xps-625?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

Between the two, I would pick the Mini, no questions asked.

The machine you speced out is not even remotely compatible with your original statment from which this example spawned and is thus a straw man argument aimed soley at getting me to admit that the PC is the better value.

Until you make the comparison a real one - a gaming PC that you can get for $599 sans monitor, I'm not going to fall for the trap.

I remember someone here posting a scan of ad for a quad core pc for 799. obviously i'll have to hunt it down. but it wasn't from dell, it was a random pre built from a retailer.

Better = perfect? :confused:
The macbook in the video I posted is far from "better" than a pc.

So, because Macs cost more than PCs, their QA should be perfect and not even a single Mac should ever be sold that hasn't passed inspection? Again with the black-and-white view. Sometimes things are grey.

Which is still $200 more expensive than the Mac Mini.

Again, show me a gaming PC tower with the specs you posted for $599 and then we will have a valid example.

That pc came with a monitor. for another example look below.

Not an i7, DDR2 ram VS DDR3 and where is that NVidia card? Still, its close enough to count as an example for this.

Between those two, I'd take the Mini because the difference in specs wouldn't produce a sizable peformance bump and I prefer the OSX envirnoment to both XP and Vista.

The i7 was only an example for the lottery. before i said about mini vs quad core gaming. as for ddr2 vs ddr 3
https://forums.macrumors.com/archive/index.php/t-654277.html

Here is an i7 config for you then

The same mac mini from before

# 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
# 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
# 320GB Serial ATA Drive
# SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)

+ add the cost of 3 year apple care divide by 3 ( pc comes with 1 year collect and return )

= around £900

vs "Titan Goliath" Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz @ 3.40GHz Quad Core DDR3 System from overclockers uk = £1000

- Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz Overclocked to 3.40GHz! (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1366)
