That's why I was asking. It's kind of pointless simply saying "unlimited data" for £35 per month but not telling us how many texts/minutes we're getting. They could be horrendously low, meaning it's a rip-off. Or fairly decent. But we have no idea yet.

200/200 for the £35
600/500 for the £45

"The 3G chipsets are real power hogs"

Now, thats ********. On my phone I can choose which network to use, 3G or GSM. Wouldnt it be natural to have this choice one the iphone ?

Apple is sooo american..

"To give everyone a chance, there'll be a limit of two iPhones per customer in-store and online. We're afraid we can't accept cash - Credit or debit cards only."

LOL.

That T-Mobile deal was about the price I was hoping for. £35 is too expensive for me

I was hoping for £30-ish. £35 is a little steep (that's £690 with the phone for a year) whereas you could simply buy a bigger iPod touch for less. I spend 70% of my time within easy reach of a computer with broadband (as do most of us), is £420 a year worth it for the other 30%?

isn't illegal in Europe to have a phone that is locked to one specific service provider?

Nope.

Everyones saying that £35 is too expensive, but that's with unlimited data. In fact it'll save a lot of money, I'm spending £30 on line rental (which includes 1100 texts and 500 minutes), £5 on phone insurance and about £40-50 on data. That's £80-90 a month I'm spending.

Steve: "Well, one's a phone, and one's not. The iPod touch is training wheels for the iPhone."

Way to diss your supposed top end iPod there, Steve.

Considering I currently get 500/300 for £19 a month with O2 that really is piss-poor.

I feel sorry for the saps who'll end up paying this.

Heck, with Pay and Go you get 300 texts free a month when you top up £10, so you can use your other £10 for calls.

I bet by Christmas Apple will start adding more features to the touch once they have their torrent of sales in the US and UK/Europe for the iPhone.

its funny how the red coats were making fun of how us yanks complain. now....FEEL OUR PAIN! just be thankful you don't have AT&T over there. I'd pay $20 extra a month just be on a different service provider, or at least for R&D on new and improved customer/technical support...like a donation.

I'm definitely gonna go for a refurb 8gb ($369 incl tax) when I'm in DC next week...I get 500 minutes on orange for £22.50 and will hopefully be able to piggy back off the cloud

i thought you could only buy refurb products online.

Matthew: "80% of high end customers from other networks would be willing to switch carriers based on their data." But he won't discuss specific sales numbers.

That's a huge call, and I hope O2 haven't based their business model on those figures. Maybe if it had 3G, but 30% Edge coverage of the UK (so 70% are stuck at 9,600 speeds) really doesn't make me even mildly interested in jumping ship to O2
I was thinking about an iPod touch but seeing as how Apple apparently hold it in disdain (see previous comment), I may have to re-consider.
