Apple's October 19th Media Event

As stated earlier ... will likely be available to the general public a few hours after the event is done. Apple wants as much coverage as possible ... just not live for everyone. :(

Buy one of the current PBs. It will be so close in specs that you won't be able to tell the difference (yes, the upgrades will be WEAK), and hopefully the price will be lower.

I'm new to this...not to apple stuff or these forums, just to actually posting.
Here's my prediction/dream for tomorrow HAH I know that this probably won't happen but one can ponder the idea right?
PM - BlueRay disc player/burner - First on the market ...thatd be sweet.
Dual core stuff like everyone's saying. Ram upgrade standard
PB - Dual layer burners, gig ram standard, two buttons, isight, new model with tablet interfface...some apple twist to make it more interesting than a tablet. Maybe it will automatically make dinner or something....Who knows...

I'd love to see a propod- ipod like but with bigger screen. 80 gig drive, mounts to new apple 6mgpx camera for photos and some upcoming sony hd cam for hard drive based dv (thatd be amazing) I mean it is still the year of hd right? something has to happen with that!!, more pda functions than ipod.
Also everything would cost 5 bones and everyone's happy!!

the powerbook mousepad will "rock" side to side ala ipod clickwheels but will still be one button

I vote PB and PM updates, because think secret said so (well, sort of), but I also vote more importantly, something photographic, and not just a pro-iphoto, but something quite big and unexpected. Why? did you see the map of that photo-expo? you would think cannon, nikon, or maybe adobe would have the booth that apple has. apple wouldn't reserve the most important booth at the place unless they thought they had the most important thing there.

Also, why would they reserve the booth but try to keep quiet about it, unless it was a big tipoff to a product they were going to introduce?
 
Well I think if they drop the 12" PB its to make way for something between the iBook and Powerbook...like a tablet, sporting costly performance specs above an iBook but not all the features etc of a PB.

This would bring them more into line with the iPods - Shuffle, iPod Nano and iPod :)

yeah good point..AND When was the last time apple had 3 special events in a month? Cmon. IF this were just PB and PM upgrades they would release it quietly like they alwasy do updates. no big deal. Not with the biggest booth at a non-computer conference. I hope it's something no one can guess. That's the best.

I saw a 10.5 inch Sony vaio with a WXGA screen @ the Sony Style Store.

And, I run the Widescreen Gaming Forum, so I know a bit about widescreens... ;)

I can't see them discontinuing the 12'' iB??? :confused:
 
I might add that Think Secret is just cruisin' the rumourboards and gleening what it considers credible info and almost pasteing it on their website..
As is Appleinsider...

Hadn't thought of that. When they updated my iMac (in June) it wasn't a special event, nor did they really announce it, it just appeared. How does Apple decide which updates are worthy of a "special event"?

Blu-ray could be an option at this point. It would likely be a $1500 option that a very select few people would want because the media just isn't available widely enough yet, but I would think that we won't see it till next spring when the first players are being made. (I know they exist in Japan but I'm not sure those are a final version of blu-ray. Anyone know?)

Apple is usually the first to adopt technologies like this as standard* features. And now that the PS3 is supporting Blu-ray, it seems like a good possiblity. Besides, the main reason for Blu-ray was to support High Def movies, and this is the year of HD ;)
*- I'm not sure if this would be a standard feature.

The 14" will be the same price as the 12" is now..

Better deal all around..

Apple is in the middle of a major transition to Intel..
To continue updating similar laptops to where they almost meld into the same one is unwise from a business standpoint.Especially during this transition..

THey will only do that IF update the resolution on the 14. But not tomorrow..it's going to be pro stuff ..not ibooks.

But the 14" is ridiculously huge. People would rather have the 12" iBook, hands down. (Not that it's bad to have the 14" for people that like big, easy to read screens.)
