Apple added an iOS pop-up option to download an iOS app for the online Apple Store purchasing.

Kk today's the first time it's ever appeared when I've opened the store page, even after purchasing stuff.

Sounds like a pretty pointless feature to me.
Really? How about when you're the designated computer guru for your circle of friends and family. I know I am. "What do you think I should get?"... "What did you get?"... how about ... "Grandpa, this is what I'd like for Christmas"... how is educating other people about what computers and technology Apple has to sell a bad thing? It directs people right to the proper spot. I think it's a fine idea.

Well, if you say it like that. ;)

Although somebody else might have said this, it sounds to me like they are just testing this out on products likely to be phased out?

Testing is likely, since the feature appeared first on Apple's two lowest-selling product lines.

There's only one thing dumber than a $5,000 computer with a pathetic and ancient graphics card: sharing it with your friends on Facebook and Twitter.

Social media features like this are just fluff. It's like the people who decide on these things are adding FaceBook and Twitter to everything just because the competition does. No-one actually needs Facebook buttons on every page they look at. Instead of adding more clutter to a web-site you could have the same functionality by adding a "Share on FaceBook" button on a web-browser's Toolbar.
