Yep, been about 30 hours for me as well. I tried submitting mine several times yesterday hoping something might speed things along. Each time I had to send a proof of purchase. Finally thought about just buying it and called to see if Apple would refund me. NOPE! Asked support to see if maybe I wasn't providing the right POP and ended up getting a supervisor or something. He said everything looked good and I should expect my code within 72 hours! LAME! The other thing was that I asked him what time I had submitted it and he said I had submitted it at 10:11 am ET on 7/26. So basically I am a time traveler and went into the future to submit my up to date request! HOW STUPID!!!

emailed the app store...

told them i had bought ML because i was fed up waiting for it.... got a very courteous reply back that the would happily refund me the money...

that was very nice....

Apple support just responded back with a canned response about it taking 72 hours. However, they did throw in there that I was approved.

Apparently, I was approved for Lion though
(Reading through the email, I don't think English is this guy's first language)

But they have to wait for the monkeys to generate a code and send you two emails.

No code ,but a new sleeve for my new MacBook Air

 I needed a sleeve to protect my new just bought 11 'MacBook air so I marched to my local Apple store , to see what they have in stock. I got there choose a nice one, and bought it. I toyed around with the Macs on the floor and see what Mountain Lion has that is so different and if it was something that I just had to have… well , is OK , bottom line is a nice incremental upgrade , and by the way I did ask the sales person about "why I haven't receive yet my code", she said that lots of people have been calling and asking , and is a wait and see process, submit your application and there is a window of 24 to 72 hrs to get it , oh well … that confirms , that they are aware of this snafu :D… I guess I can live without Mountain Lion for the week end, 45 minutes to install ? ..and I have 3 Macs , .. hmm rather have a day off to do that ….

I'm still waiting for my first code....
I have requested the code over 36hrs now, and still nothing. I'm waiting for approval for two new machines. A MacbookPro 13" 2.9-i7 8gb ram 128gb ssd and a MacbookProR 15" 2.6-i7 16gb ram 512gbssd.

Like many others here, I submitted my serial number for the up to date program around 11am est yesterday. I emailed Apple today to make sure they had the right email address for the claim and they responded back saying they did along with the canned response everyone else is getting.

I'm starting to get a little impatient :p

Please be informed that the email containing the redemption code will be sent to you via email within 24 to 72 hours of your submission of claim. Please let me know if you do not receive a valid redemption code for your free upgrade within 72 hours, as I'll be happy to look into things further for you.

At least you got something from Apple. I even submitted a ticket yesterday and sent an e-mail today and not a single reply other than on the phone when the CSR said it could take up to 48 hours. Bull!!!

Just sent an email to the above address:

Dear Apple,

I am at the point where I am absolutely FUMING that I have had to wait nearly 2 days for a redemption code to be sent to me so I can download Mountain Lion.

Is this how Apple treats its customers who bought new Retina Macbook Pros in June?

If it was going to take this long to issue redemption codes, why didn't Apple start the process a week prior to the software availability?

I was very excited and anxious to download the new operating system when it went live on Thursday at 8:30am EST. I submitted my redemption code form, and to this moment, I am still waiting for a redemption code to be sent to me.

Looking across the Internet support forums, there are dozens of angry people just like myself who can't fathom that Apple screwed this process up so badly. I think it's highly unfair that everyone else has had the opportunity to download the new operating system while the rest of us WAIT.

No confirmation as yet and saw a few forum's member post about the 72 hours wait , my guess its going to be more than 72 hours wait.

Is this version of ML I get with the code machine-specific i.e. attached to the serial I gave in the up-to-date-form? I will have to buy a 2nd license for another mac I have at home (I´m currently 'on the road') anyways.
If the it isn´t machine-specific, I might use my redemption code on my old MBP at home and could go buy ML for my 2012 air right away. Does anybody know if that would work?

And now, a rant for the complainers:
It is, as far as I can remember, not the first launch, product or update Apple ******** up royally. MobileMe, the very first iPhone-OS (pre-app store, folks!), the current Mac Pro situation, 'antennagate' ... it´s a long list. We all know that.
But the success and innovative power most people see in (and expect from) Apple is only one part of the story, because after all there are people involved in designing and realizing all of this. Humans make mistakes and sometimes there is a chain of mistakes that leads us to a situation such as now. So calm the **** down and do something worth your time. Complaining about 72 hours after 10+ months of waiting is kinda weird I think. In short: As annoying as it might be, man up and wait for it to come. It will.

You don't need to buy any other licence. When you download ML, an installer icon will be created in your Applications folder. After that, copy the file to an external hard drive or other location (I say external just to be sure the installer is kept) and then install ML. That way, you'll have the installer available on your other Mac.

I'm just writing what I read so far and what it is said is that the installer will be automatically deleted after installation. That's why I said copy it before installing.

Again, just writing what I've been reading since I'm still waiting for my code for almost 31 hours now. And about your last paragraph, I completely disagree with you. I paid €2500 for a RMBP and the ML upgrade is part of it! I am entitled to have it as soon as it is available. No more and no less than anyone who actually paid for it on the App Store.

The code

I finally got an e-mail reply and the guy said that if my code doesn't get sent in the next 48 hours, call 1-800-275-2273 and they will GIVE YOU THE CODE! :D
