Go figure. After 33 hours I had it and paid for the download through the Mac App Store. Then, 2 hours later, I get the e-mails with the pdf and code for the free download. Dammit!

I know!!! I got all excited because it was from Apple, then I opened it and I just shook my head. Going to sleep now. I HOPE I will wake up to the right email in the morning!

what is the email to check if my application was accepted and waiting code?
I want to make sure I don't have to resubmit.

my god, is there a lack of oxygen in your area? if they wanted to make you pay for it, THEY WOULDNT HAVE MADE THE OFFER.

i pray that you're really just 12 years old.

Calm down you fool, it was a theory, a more plausible one would be that they have purposely slowed down the handling of the validation to reduce server load for those who choose to pay for the upgrade. Either way, its quite an annoying ****** up for what should be a trivial matter to a global computing company.

That sucks. Glad I just waited it out. No way would I have paid though. Not that urgent.

I held out because I'm a cheap bastard (and I was busy), but finally got my code after 33 hours as well. Figures that as soon as I start packing up to leave work the e-mails come in.

Installing now...

38 hours and NADA!!!

So its now been 38 hours since I submitted my claim and still no email. How disappointing. I had called yesterday to see if my claim even went through and well, as you will see in my response to the apple "did our advisor solve your issue?" (email they send after you call them) things were quite fouled up yesterday!

"My issue not getting resolved was not the fault of the Advisor I spoke with. He was very nice and courteous and did everything he could to figure out why I hadn't received my Up-to-Date code yet but in the end he had to send me to a higher lever person to see what the hold up was. The next person was also very nice, but could only tell me my submission went through and now I have to wait 72 hours for my code... But the very curious thing was that he said his system said it was submitted TOMORROW! Yes that's correct, he said my submission for my up to date code was indeed submitted by me on 7/26/12 even though it was still only 7/25/12???As a NEW Mac user I am a little disappointed in how poorly this up to date thing has gone. It is now 38 hours since my original submission and still no code to update the new OS. This is by no means a deal breaker for me nor has it interrupted my daily life, it has just left a very poor first impression so far. But hey we all learn from mistakes and I trust you all will have this kind of situation resolved for your next big release."

I doubt anyone will actually give a rat's patootie what I have to say as they already sucked me in, but it felt good to tell them how disappointing this whole up to date experience has been.

NO, no, the theory that they want to reduce server load or just messed up somehow is much less paranoid. Occam's Razor.

I agree. I still haven't received my new code. It better be here tomorrow or I'll be writing some angry posts in this forum!

I recieved an email this morning with a new code to open the PDF with the Redeem code... Those buggers didn't send the PDF with the redeem code though :( Not happy at all!

If the place where you bought your Mac isn't listed in the "Reseller" box as you start typing it, even though it is an Apple Authorized Reseller, does that mean your Mac isn't eligible? (It's "Sun Devil Campus Stores", Arizona State University's computer store. I've tried typing "Sun Devil", "ASU", "Arizona", etc. and it's not showing up. I just typed it in manually the first time I submitted)

First of all the free upgrade should be on a different server as compared to the paid version, how come apple suddenly lacks of proper planning ??

Now that fact really puzzle me.

Here's my theory:

They ****ed up.

They're still ****ing up.

They have a huge mess on their hands and don't know what to do. As to why your guess is as good as mine but if you take a look at the super confusing and non-functioning sign up form, that's probably no co-incidence. The whole up to date program site seems to have been designed by lawyers.

Should advice Apple let the techies handle that portion and just stop the lawyers from designing the up to date program .

I don't think what you type under Reseller matters. I believe all that matters is the serial number. But don't quote me on that.

Okay because none of my submissions seem to be taking - I'm always able to resubmit later with the same serial number. I should just chill the **** out, close MacRumors, and go to sleep. But I won't.

Sorry, had to quote you on that.

Lol. At this point I'm not even sure of the whole submissions-not-taking. As I mentioned I earlier, I submitted my claim 3 times...the 4th was rejected (serial already claimed). When I eventually got my redeem code a few hours ago, it had the serial number of the first claim (not the 3rd, which logically was the one to register).

My advice? Follow yours. Go sleep. When you wake up, you'll have the redemption code waiting for you in your inbox ;)

I hope you are right and that the fact that I resubmitted an hour ago didn't cause problems.

41 hours now. Still no word.

We're working with computers here. There shouldn't be anything random about who gets a code when. It should be first come first served. Yet that appears not to be the case. I was sitting here refreshing the page, waiting for the up-to-date page to appear. When it became available, I placed my order. I should have been one of the first to receive a code. Not what appears to be one of the last.

I submitted my claims (for my MacBook Pro and Air) on 07/25/12 around 11am, still no codes! I truly miss back in the days when OS's came in CD's/DVD's...Can't stand this new download crap! Come on I need a hard copy!!! But I do agree Apple is doing "Crowd Control" with these codes, I think their New High Tech Data Center can't handle all the traffic....should of gone with 12 football fields instead of 4!
