Now, both new builds launch without a hitch on my SL 10.6.5 and accept my existing profile. Great work, thank you guys !!
@wicknix: finally had a couple of minutes to try it, undescribably pleased to tell you that this time it launched without the shadow of a hitch. Title bar still does not turn up at launch, but for now that's the least of my concerns.
For want of a better token of appreciation here's a virtual flower for you.
[Addition, next day] The German site mentioned earlier is now working correctly in AF too. I've noticed a couple of pages looking funny here and there, but I think it's such sites that haven't fine-tuned between their desktop and funkyphone versions.
OTH, AF's Prefs window (pt.9) still shows up “truncated” the first time I open it, “full size” only the second time.

Glad to hear it, and thanks. Out of curiosity... since you're the only one with the titlebar issue, can you check in about:config and make sure "dom.disable_window_open_feature.titlebar" is set to false? Maybe one of your extensions changed it. If that isn't it, then i'm at a loss, other than blaming your FF profile import. 😉

One silly Q, before I do something more foolish than usual: where do changes in about:config get stored, in the current Profile (easily backupable) or in the inscrutable guts of the application?
And while we're about:configgin' the blues away — here's what I found today at the Pale Moon forums. Was curious, took a look in about:config… The apparent result of that FF import of mine which you love to hate (and I hate to love, believe me) is that there are no less than 36 “noscript” entries in there — and NoScript! was never installed in AF. So here's the many, many €/₽/$/元 question: dare you tell me that I may safely zap all of them?

In your profile. Specifically in the file "prefs.js". To safely remove all references of noscript, i'd advise using about:config, search the term "noscript", and click "reset" on all lines. You could also use your favorite text editor to delete them as well, but you'll have to exit the browser first before doing so.

🙁 — setting “dom.disable_window_open_feature.titlebar” to false didn't revive the Title bar. But now that I'm more comfortable with this sort of procedure, if you have any other suggestions I'm more than willing to try them out.
Opened prefs.js in TextWrangler: ¡ over 1500 lines ! So — having lost the knack for batch S&R, I resetted all of them manually in about:config. Thanks for the instructions, I never would have guessed that that was the way to do some cleaning up. It also gave me the chance to get rid of 41 entries related to WOT (Web of Trust), which was never compatible with AF and was kind of fishy anyway.
Wrt. NoScript, it's also there in the Value of the "browser.uiCustomization.state" entry. I'm sending it to you in a private message, maybe you can tell me if it's OK to reset it too?

But while I'm perfectly able to log in to reddit in AF, it's still not functional in the least (I wonder how this person has allegedly managed). I had used NewMoon to post in the past, but now it's telling me that my password (the very same one of course) is wrong. Kind of insane, this reddit thing.

I can say that Arctic Fox 27.9.17 is much better with captcha check, a click in the case I'm not a robot is often enough and if a picture is asked it's faster, a good point for me 🙂
Some details I would appreciate and suggest.
When a page is loading, the only way to see the rate of loading is to activate the status bar that I don't need otherwise. Well, opening a tab allow to see a rotating mark in the previous tab but it's not practical.
When I put the arrow on a link in a page I can't see the content of the link, I didn't find how.

[Sorry, my mistake] It's the addon URL Tooltip for Firefox 15+ v. 1.3.1. You'll find it in the Classic Addons Archive.

In the Preferences/Advanced/Network tab, Offline Web Content and User Data is set to “Always ask” and has been so for ever. I've never, ever been “asked”, not that I ever use the browser offline, and Application cache here always shows 0 bytes used. Ages ago in Firefox, my webmail provider had once abandoned a few Mbs in there (without asking), but then they went away again.
In AF's Profile there's a directory called “storage”. Inside of it two subdirectories, “permanent” and “temporary”, always empty, and a third one named “default”, which gets filled with more subdirectories in a “https+++www.abcdefg.xyz” format. These in turn contain more code-like subdirectories, as well as a single 524kb sqlite file. These web addresses directories correspond to sites (often news sites) which have been visited, but should definitely not be leaving anything behind. Of course I never get “asked” either.
I've never figured out what these “+++site” directories were all about, but I've been deleting them as part of routine maintenance. However… while there came only 4 or 5 of them per month in Firefox, I get about 3-4 times as many in AF.

Arctic Fox web browser is coming along well. I am running the one for 10.6 Snow Leopard on Core2Duo 64-bit. I'm not sure which addons and/or extensions I should install and use now (I was able to access my Yahoo! Mail without having to use a User Agent Switcher, unlike in TenSixFox).
YouTube videos play well. When I am in Outlook Mail and doing a search, the search never completes (shows results). Instead, it gets hung up in "Searching..."

Installed this now on a white Mid-2007 Macbook. Works fine, thanks a lot for your work!

@UUUnicorn You can install anything from addons.palemoon.org that was made for version 27 (lower right corner labeled releases). There are a lot of forks of popular FF add-ons available. For instance stylem is a fork of sylish. Otherwise a good portion of legacy FF add-ons will work as well. I personally just use ublock (legacy version), noscript, fireftp, and grease monkey as those do everything i need.

@wicknix, I discovered your work few days ago. It's really great! I installed Arctic Fox on two Snow Leopard 10.6.8 Intel system, one in 32-bit and one in 64-Bit : it works fast and smoothly. Congratulations! That's what we where looking for since Firefox ESR 45.09 ends in 2017.
However, I was enable to switch in my native language, following the guide with the right version of the package an modifying "general.useragent.locale" in "fr" in "about:config". After restart, Arctic Fox is stuck in en-US. Not so bad.
I have a which too, is it a chance to see Arctic Fox works on Leopard 10.5.8 Intel 32-Bit for some computers (with a nVidia Geforce Fx5200) that can't be upgraded in Snow Leo?

There has been work done to try to get AF to build for Intel 10.5, but no luck so far. For now I'd suggest the Intel port of tenfourfox if you need an updated browser on Intel 10.5.
Language is set to English by default. Let me check if any of Pale Moons older language packs will work with AF.

I have not tested this, but following these instructions: http://addons.palemoon.org/addon/pm-langpack-fr/ and using these lang packs: http://archive.palemoon.org/palemoon/langpacks/27.x/ you *should* be able to switch to your native language.

I just tried, "not compatible with ArcTic Fox 27.9.17" as the compatibility is from Pale Moon 28.

I tried harder but no more results.
I installed the fr.xpi, it appears in a new line, Languages in Add-on page.
I tried the extension method, installing Pale Moon Locale Switcher, I click on the globe in toolbar, set to french and accept to reload Arctic Fox. During one second the menus are in french and switch to US, no way.
I tried the Preferences method (en-US => fr), nothing more, with Pale moon Locale Switcher disabled or not.
I tried all that with New Moon, nada.

It took a while to get back to this, but it seems that there's now nothing wrong with the gstreamer plugins, as videos can be played with no trouble in Firefox 39 / AF .17 on 12.04.
In this experience, the trouble was with uMatrix / eMatrix. As soon as I disabled them, all videos started playing right back once again.
