Hello!

Is it just me who has problems with share options in safari and photo app? I can use all the extensions but when I try to put them in a new order for example to put pocket in the front. But then when I shut down safari and will take up share options, so they're in the default order again ... does anyone else have this problem?

Look at the screen shots to understand what I mean

Before shut down of safari on the right when I have it in the order I like, then after shut down of safari on the left.

Ok. So I let me see if I got this.

1. Download Findmyiphone app onto my iphone and my macbook.

2. Lose my iphone (hypothetically)

3. Go to findmyiphone app on my mac.

4. Locate missing iphone.

If that's correct, then I heard that your phone has to be on and not turned off for this to work. Also, your phone must not be out of batteries else this won't work as well.

The other way which I don't know much about is to use the built in app that allows you to locate the last place your iphone was before the battery was drained or if your phone is turned off.

To me that that sounds like the built-in app is much better than findmyiphone and it saves you a little memory space for not dl-ing the findmyiphone app.

Just wondering if I'm right here or am I still not getting it =)

No, you're not getting it. You don't need to download the 'find my iPhone' app to your iPhone. You just turn on 'Find my iPhone' in the settings menu. You only download the separate app to an iOS device if you have lost the iPhone or iPad, or you go to iCloud.com on the MacBook.

Having the 'last reported location' feature turned on means that the iPhone will ensure you can see where it was before it was turned off or battery died. Obviously it cannot locate it if it's off or battery is dead.

Just to re-iterate. The 'find my iPhone' swore are app is purely for putting on an iOS device that you use to locate your iPhone, not the device that's lost.

It is Safari bug, same issue here

Is there any way to MAKE a call from an iPad via Continuity? Will I be able to SEND SMS messages via Continuity when it comes out in Oct?

For those of you setting up iPhone as new (preferably on 5s but I guess it doesn't matter) is anything in Health enabled by default? If so, what?

Yes and yes. For calling, you either go to a phone number in contacts and you will see a picture of a phone icon next to the phone number. If you see a phone number somewhere else, such as in Safari or Messages, you should just be able to tap it.

Excellent, thanks. After playing around with it I realized that if you go to the FaceTime app you can just enter what you need where it says "enter name, email, or number" and it will make the call. I wonder how many people using iPads who don't frequent Apple Internet forums even realize they can do that?

Oh thanks I get it now...I think =)

Just to test myself here. If I lose my phone, I don't need to findmyiphone app on my macbook. If I read you correctly, I can also use icloud.com to find my missing phone?

Ask your stupid iOS 8 questions here!

The contact info shown for iOS 8 in emails that it says you can add as a contact, I don't see that in mine, plus, anyone see why it's necessary to now shorten the page when replying also? There's a gap at the top of emails when clicking to reply. IPhone 5s

I see contact info to add occasionally. As for the "gap" it's to show you that the compose or reply screen is on top of the mailbox and can be swiped down so you can see what's behind it if needed and then swipe it up to get back to it.

Ah thanks. I'll check that out.

Is it only if someone allows or is on iOS that contact info. Thought it was for all non contacts.

Can't get any notifications still. Badges, etc. Emails. Apps update, Twitter still. Nothing notifies. Wonder what it's changed. All looks same settings

Question about Safari on my iPad Air. When I go to a site like Macrumors home page then scroll down the articles then open say the sixth article then swipe right to go back to home page it always goes back to the top of the page instead of where I was, the sixth article. Does this every time and don't remember this happening in IOS 7. Also when I open my bookmarks then click on one is there any other way to make the bookmark column disappear other than tapping the bookmark icon again? Thanks so much for the help.

No, there is no built-in app. There is a setting that is activated and then there is an app.

The setting just enables the phone to be located.

The app is the tool used to locate it.

iPhoto not compatible with iOS8, what now?

I bought iPhoto for iOS (and OSX) and as with most app purchases, one is assured of free updates of that app while it remains in the app store.

After upgrading to iOS 8, I am no longer able to use iPhoto on either my iPhone or iPad, starting the app, one is presented with a message telling the user to use the Photos app instead. Now I can see that the Photos app has a lot of new edit features that it never had before but these are far inferior to the abilities of the iPhoto app.

Am I really correct in thinking that Apple currently DO NOT have a photo editing suite, equal to or better than iPhoto for iOS (<8.0)? Will Apple launch a new photo editing app, again costing money? Do they instead rely on the developer community to fill that gap in the market?

I am very disappointed as I was extremely happy with iPhoto for iOS.

I saw in the 'All the Little Things' thread (and on the main site''s hidden features roundup) that you can decline calendar invites with a comment in iOS 8. When I've tried to recreate this myself I haven't had the option to add a comment, I just have the Accept, Maybe and Decline buttons.

No matter what I try I can't recreate it! What am I doing wrong? Is it only available on certain calendar types? Does the person have to be subscribed to a shared calendar? I don't know what I'm doing wrong!

iOS8 will not synch properly with iTunes 11.4
I have 32 videos in my iTunes library (with check marks), these videos use to be on my iPhone 5 with iOS7 but since upgrading to iOS8 they are no longer on my iPhone. I have tried synching numerous times still not working they are in my iTunes library so why are they not synching to my iPhone? argh!!

Is there a way to "clear" battery usage statistics in iOS 8? I am specifically referring to the % usage associated with each app.

Anyway to get the totals to display correctly for steps and walking + running distance, when you toggle between day, week, month and year view? It only displays the current day no matter what.... seems a bit dumb.

Tried a hard reset? Mines fine.

Nope. Short of doing something drastic.

Hello guys.. I hope you can help me with some (maybe) stupid questions about ios8.
I have yet to buy my iphone, here it's available from friday.
My questions are about the photostream. I have 2 ipads and an iphone 5 for now and i use the photostream to share some latest photos on all the devices.
With the photostream folder i have the possibility to delete some of the photos and still have them only on my phone if i don't want them shared on the other devices and keep some pics only on my phone. This is not possible with ios8 right? You can't delete a pic only from the stream and keep it only on the iphone am i right?

If you confirm that i am correct... I thought about a possibility:
I will now disable the photostream since i have all those pics already saved on my mac and some of them still in my camera roll, when i get the iphone 6 and have the ipad updated... I will enable cloud drive and save the pics there like a photostream(is it possible?) and then delete them from cloud drive from time to time when i download them on the mac and then create albums that i will sync with my devices. Can cloud drive be used to auto save the most recent folder on it and use it as an old photostream folder to share ?and can i delete some pics from it that are uploaded and don't want to share on the other devices? How does it work?
Thanks in advance. And sorry for possible mistakes! :)

Really! Ask any question you think is dumb here, and I or someone else will hopefully answer your question(s)!

Oh, thank God. I've been waiting for an opportunity like this since I failed to download iOS8 last week.

Please tell me, how can I get iOS8 on my Android?

If Apple's so great, how come I can't do this, hm?

JK

I haven't managed to go through all the replies yet so forgive me if this has been asked - has ios8 released a fix for the separate conversations that are created when an iPhone user in your contacts messages you from different devices/addresses such as their various emails or their phone number? It would be great if it would contain them all in one conversation when you've linked them all to the same contact.

Wish there is a way to have conversation-view in Mail app in iOS 8, like Mail in OSX.

I have "Organize by Thread" option enabled but still all I see in a back and forth email thread is everyone else's emails, not the ones I sent. I take it there is no way to view it like Mail in OSX where you see all incoming and outgoing mail in a thread/conversation (?).
