Keyboard

How will we able to use other keyboards on IOS8?

Is it direct replaceable and set as default like Android or we have to have apps that support the keyboard and launch the apps through the keyboard app?

I've installed Flesky on IOS 8 Beta 4 and noticed I can't directly change the default keyboard to Flesky. Is this feature not available yet in the Betas?

Once you have an app installed for the keyboard, you should be able to cycle through to the keyboard anywhere like you would to the emoji/international keyboards.

Do you mean the 3rd party keyboard is app-dependent which means the app has to support the keyboard?

The keyboard is installed through extensions, which requires an app to be installed first. Other apps do not have to be updated to support it I don’t think (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong about this), as it should just show up as a keyboard along with your other active keyboards.

The Fleksy app you downloaded is just an app showcasing the keyboard. As soon as iOS 8 gets released, Fleksy will update their app and you will be able to use Fleksy keyboard wherever you'd use the regular onscreen keyboard instead.

Ok, this makes sense now.

Group texts? Can you select all from a group in adress book and send a text?

Does the iPad Air/Retina mini still stutter when blurring into and out of siri? Spotlight? Control center/notification center on lock screen?

Oh, and does SMS with continuity work for iPads yet in the iOS 8 beta? I heard it doesn't work as of now.

I just thought of this too, does the new tab view in Safari for the iPad lag/periodically stutter on the iPad Air/retina mini, or is it consistently smooth like on the iPhone 5S?

If Touch ID protects data in my keychain, what happens when I need to buy a new car?

Email

Can we please get a "select all" option for email so we don't have to delete emails one by one?

One thing thats bugged me for ages is that when an email comes in, if you read it on the mac, it does not get marked as read on the iPhone/ipad or vice versa. Seems to have no similar problems with iMessages, just email.

So, is this finally fixed in iOS 8? or do we still have to open the mail app to clear down the unread badge.

I never had that problem with iOS 7, and it doesn't seem to be on on iOS 8 for me either.

I still have to do this on iOS8.

Its probably more to do with how the email is set up in terms of POP/IMAP etc than what version of iOS the device is running.

I have my GMail account on my iPhone and iPad running iOS7 set up over Exchange with Push enabled meaning that whenever i get an email i can deal with it on my iPhone, iPad or PC via the web and the other ones update accordingly.

I can't seem to find something that was there in iOS7. In the settings there was a place indicating the list of applications and which ones used wifi recently (different icon colors). I think I went everywhere in iOs8 settings but can't seem to find it. Please help!

:D

It's app that used your location, not wifi. Still there. Settings, Privacy, location services.

Hmm..were you jailbroken? I don't recall anything like that ever being present on iOS.

Well in that case I'm going to say what I edited out, they may be talking about Settings > Cellular, where you can see which apps have used data.

Possibly, but it seems tough to confuse wifi with data. Could be the case, though.

The only other thing I can think of was, at some point in the iOS 7 betas, there was a wifi diagnostics tab under Wifi in Settings. But, not really close to what the other user is describing.

thanks guy.. I think I was vaguely confusing a mix of cellular data usage & gps location.. oddly enough I was sober when I asked.

Thanks for the feedback
