The original press release is gone it seems, 2nd ATT repo confirmed the news about being eligible if you purchased July, Aug, Sept. Hopefully we see something new soon

EDIT: i found it, same release...maybe they are keeping the wording, but it still is pretty confusing

if i got the original iphone on launch day then upgraded to 3g on launch day, do i qualify for this price? it says im not eligable until 12/12/09

No.. How much is your rate plan? That's probably the defining factor here.

This is not true. The Press Release was very clear. If you are not one of their customers that spend > $99 per month per line and would have qualified for at 12 month Upgrade Eligible price in July / Aug / Sept. you still don't qualify.

Also, not to be a nudnik, and just for clarity, >$99 per month is for voice plan+data plan only. Messaging plans and other sundry add-ons do not count.

No it is stll there: http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=13745

It is only for customers that would have been "Upgrade Eligible". For example someone that spends more than > $ 99 per month per line and purchased on July 11, 2008. Before the Press Release they would only qualify for the "Early Upgrade" pricing of $399 / $499 now as of tomorrow they will get the $199 / $299.

Wow, if only people would apply this type of resolve to change to o, I don't know, climate change or world hunger...

Nah, let's all worry about getting our phones for the cheapest price.

its 39.99 rate plan plus 30.00 data and 20 unlimited text plus tax

ATT specifically said $99 or more per line, so that's probably why your not eligible before October.

I wonder if you can upgrade your plan and be eligible? :)

I think that the reason I am eligible nest month is because I am on a Gov't plan. But who knows.

My bill is over $100 but that has only been since february when my wife got her iphone. would this make me eligible?
my bill for the first 6 months was way over the 99, but then i dropped it in Jan and i get a work discount....now this is making me wonder

No, it is not your total bill. It is the MRC on each individual line. Voice + Dave + Select Features = > $99 pre line monthly charges and a 12 month "Upgrade Eligible" cycle.

ah okay. well i'll still check the site tomorrow if it shows anything different. would be nice if it did.

Do you have proof of this?

just what 2 reps have told me..i guess internally they received a second note clarifying some things..both reps noted i called on this and both read back the same thing to me

Who knows, and speaking of the 99 bucks disucssion, it states "iPhone customers who spend more than $99 a month per line with us generally are eligible for an upgrade between 12 and 18 months into their contract." I paid over 99 bucks the first 6 months then after that i dropped to 89 with a work discount.

I was eligible in December, which is 18 months from the purchase date, so i guess i am eligible then? It's confusing but i guess we all wont know for 100% until tomorrow.

I was informed by AT&T that it is Voice + Data only and nothing else. I'm not saying that is incorrect, just that all the information I've been coming across has said that, and it seems to sync perfectly with all the people I know and their eligibility status.

Alright. Please help me out here.

I ordered the 3G S from Apple. (32GB white)

When I ordered I was informed that I qualified for the $499 upgrade price.

Does this mean I will get $200 off?

Just to through a wrench into the equation:

I pay less then 70/month and my upgrade date is not until December of 2009.

I just changed my order from a $399 16GB 3GS to a $299 32GB 3GS phone. I was also given the choice of being credited $200 for my original purchase.

I did purchase the original iphone and the iphone 3G on the launch date.

I would say call to get the strait answer and not rely on the message boards.

The easiest way to check is to log into OLAM at wireless.att.com and see your contract eligibility date. If it's later than September, you are not eligible, full stop.
