IMO, it's confirmed with AT&T when AT&T posts it authoritatively on their website. Otherwise, it's just playing "AT&T rep roulette", where you never know which answer you're going to get.

I've seen too many launches from too many companies (over the years) where well-meaning reps have given out information they truly believe was correct, only to have it be incorrect.

Edit: absolutely agree with your comment about it not knowing for sure until Thursday!

You're 100% correct. Right now, AT&T's website says nothing about FAN discounts one way or the other as they relate to the new plans launching Thursday. My suspicion is that if the FAN discount did not apply, it would say that explicitly somewhere in the extensive fine print. As of my latest reading of the fine print, I don't see any mention of FAN discounts one way or the other. Therefore, I am going to assume that FAN discounts will apply until I see proof directly from AT&T on their website that indicates otherwise.

The one person that said it won't has no proof. They are just saying that. Don't let it conflict. The vast majority of us here who have asked have gotten a yes from AT&T.

I just spoke to my friend who works in an at&t store, apparently there is a lot of confusion within at&t as well and his manager has been on conference calls all day. the consensus right now seems to be that the FAN discount WILL apply to the $115 base plan price. He told me to take that with a grain of salt though since there has been a lot of confusion with communications from corporate to the stores.

Nope, you're missing the point. There’s ALWAYS a maximum speed of 3Mbps. In other words, after you reach 22GB, you're connection speed will be throttled even slower.
Out of curiosity, what do you do on your 20GB family plan with 4 lines that uses more than 3 Mpbs? Seems like you'd quickly blow through your data plan if anyone was doing much of anything at 3 Mbps!

It makes me wonder how the service fees apply then. FAN discounts apply to service fees, not access fees. Great to know they are as confused as us! :)

I've wondered the same, not just in this case, but in general. I was getting 14Mbps at one time on Verizon, but not sure it ever mattered for me.

Wow, sorry for that mess you quotes, clearly auto-correct took over. Let me fix that.

And thank you for your update.

Where is the new unlimited plan for AT&T I can't find it when I try to upgrade my plan on my att page?

Not out till Thursday. Mentioned many times in this thread and in the article.

At&t just updated the terms and conditions on the bottom.

"Discounts: Plans may not be eligible for offers, credits, or discounts."

If they don't apply then fAN than I'll just stick to my grandfathered plan with FAN since it will be a lot cheaper minus the tethering ,

I am going to trust the call center over in store because stores don't actually have any information yet. The call center rep told me he just received his FAQ about the plans and mentioned FAN applies. Obviously we won't know for sure until Thursday.

My bff worked at their call center. Eventually she left to pursue a non minimum-wage job. Not sure how much better equipped a sterile office with brown carpet and old phones would be compared to a flagship store. Either way, the truth is we won't know until it launches. This store seems very confident in their response.

Edit: again, store made it very clear that the FAN will remain on your account it just won't apply to the new plan. So you're not losing it you're just not able to apply it.

in March ATT grandfathered plan will increase an additional $5 as it did just a couple months ago. later this year it will increase another $5 once more. They're really forcing folks off that old grandfathered unlimited plan. by the time of the last increase, might as well jump on the new unlimited plus if you must stay with ATT.

T-Mobile will be giving away a free line to anyone who calls on March 1st. Just have two lines already and the third line will be free. Three lines unlimited for $100.

No way would I ever believe this. The real reason is greed on the carriers part, do you realize how much money these carriers made by getting people off their unlimited data years ago and placed them on teired plans? A heck of a lot of money. Most of the call center reps at these carriers looked for ways to get customers who called in to get off there old grandfathered unlimited plans. Some customers were even tricked into losing their unlimited plans and now these carriers are begging to put you on a new and improved unlimited plan. Give me a break, it's so obvious that it's a joke.
Then why do you think all the carriers maintain a "slowdown cap"? They still have to be able to provide advertised service to ALL users, especially during peak times. Reason being they are FAR from having unabated BW hogging by every Tom, Dick, and Harry that would not give a 2nd thought to dropping Cable, Fiber, or DSL in favor of using cellular service as their main internet connection.

Sorry.

Well, here's a step toward tiered speed instead of tiered data allotment, similar to wired broadband.
I would be fine with that if it wasn't service specific. Let me have 5Mbps across the board, including video, with unlimited data.

Ah okay, that makes sense. Yes, that would be a better deal. But this is a much better deal for my 3 unlimited grandfathered lines. With my 21% discount, it drops the bill by 40 a month and I get unlimited minutes and addition of tethering.

Also, the old grandfathered goes up $5 on Wednesday.

They told me corporate discount does not apply..

As a 10 year customer of AT&T, we just switched to T-Mobile last week. We're saving so much money and the service has been the same. Peace out AT&T!

We're $40 less a month than AT&T's new plans and there were no activation fees. What a joke!
15 years, for me with AT&T, but with a wife and 5 children it was T-Mobile a month ago. No regrets.

At least you get "something" (10GB of tethering) for the price increase, if you do that.
