I decided to give up my 2-line plan with 20GB of shared data and switch to the current unlimited plan. Like a few others in this thread, I have a 25% FAN discount through my employer and, in light of all the rumors that FAN discounts will not apply to the new unlimited plans rolling out tomorrow, thought that it'd be a wise idea to lock in at least some type of discount (hey, $15 is $15). All in all, my monthly bill will increase by $20 from what I'm paying currently. Although my wife and I never got hit with overages (thanks to Rollover Data), we did come close a few times. As far as I'm concerned, $20 is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

If you only have 1 line, doesn't care for tethering, and have a good FAN discount, the grandfathered unlimited plan is still a lot cheaper than the new plans.

For myself:
450 Nation - 39.99
Unlimited Data - 34.99
200 Text messages - 5.00

With the 22% FAN discount I am paying less than $70 per month.

Similar math for me, but I only have a 15% discount, and have the Unlimited texting for $20/month (I was tired of asking if people had an iPhone before I gave them my number lol), so I've been paying $91/month since the last $5 unlimited increase last year. I'm planning on making the switch to Verizon over the weekend - my brother is going to switch his 3 lines sharing 8GB to unlimited and I'll become the 4th line. That will bring my cost to right around $50 with taxes. I was already leaning towards the single line plan on Verizon...AT&T almost kept me with the DirecTV now discount, but I too already have the $35 Go Big promotional package, so no further discount for me. The other let down to AT&T's revised plan is the 128Kbps slowdown after the 10GB tethering allotment is used when everyone else is offering 3G speeds...although it would be nice if Verizon mentioned what "3G speed" means to them, since at this point it's a throttling speed and not a "this is all the underlying implementation is theoretically capable of" speed. So kudos to AT&T for at least being transparent in that instance!

I currently the 20gb MSV $100.00 single line $15.00 access line fee with car connect, $10.00 and mobile hotspot $20.00. With my military disc final bill with taxes totaled $139.43/monthly. Chatted with ATT this morning and I am switching over to unlimited plus. Now my bill will be about after discount 123.25 + 9.73 tax. Also verified with cs during chat that my military disc applies to the add-on devices. CS will also back date new plan as my plan end date is on the 9th of the month.

I agree. I just started UL last week and would kind of sip on my 20gb plan because I watch a lot of 'out of market' NHL and NBA games on the road.

With rollover data my plan would get roughly 22-30gb of data allowance monthly.

One thing I do wonder, though.

Did I have a 22gb slow down mark with my rollover data? I never asked ATT about it.

My understanding is usage over 22gb you might be slowed down if tower is congested. I have Dtv and have had MLB extra innings for years, but the cost was getting out of hand. Found myself watching the Tigers more on my phone or iPad using the MLB app. So last year I cancelled MLB extra innings and just watched games on the MLB app. I can also watch the games on Apple TV using the app.

Also I can now watch March madness using the Directv app and not have data counted.

For me, this is a win-win.

The 22GB is not a hard cap. A user exceeding 22GB will be "deprioritized" (slowed down/throttled) when connected to a congested tower. For what it's worth, I've read many anecdotal accounts of people blowing past the 22GB mark and never being deprioritized.

Every time these american data plans are presented i laugh:) look up at the skylines if you wonder where your money is going.
Unlimited 4g everything is about 17$ here

Its ok, every time we look at the withholding on our paychecks we get to laugh back.

Kind of a random question but can anyone tell me if streaming DIRECTV through the app counts toward the 22 gig threshold on the unlimited plan?

That's why it's an option and not the default. Did you read they are offering a full LTE data speed plan as well?

Good luck with coverage once you leave the city. I hated TMO for that reason. AT&T definitely has way better coverage.
leave the city? I spend 99.9% of my time in the city? If I leave the city it's to go camping and get away from technology. Thanks but no thanks. It's been two weeks now and the experience has been terrific and in fact, I get better signal on T-Mobile in many places, including at work.

Why would I pick a cell provider based on their service in the sticks if I never go to the sticks in the first place?

Also, T-Mobile's headquarters is like 15 minutes away from me. They're the best provider in Seattle.

Sure they do...it's called a "resort fee". $25-$40 per night, includes WIFI. In some cases, if you want "faster" wifi, it will cost you upwards of $10 more per night. Almost ANY hotel (not Motel) charges it now. Being a "fee", it's not subject to tax and is pure profit for the hotel. Unfortunately, whether or not you use it, you are forced to pay for it.
I HATE those resort fees and especially the daily parking fees. Just roll it all in the room rate and skip the nickel and dime stuff. But then they would have to advertise HIGHER room rates which they would HATE.

Location, brother, location. In my area both VZW and T-mo suck. I went NYC att was not very good there. Att is the best in my area and that's why I'm going to switch from T-mo to att.
On my ski resort t-mo has stable no service, but may be somewhere else it sorks better than others.

I have the current unlimited with Directv plan and on my data usage summary it shows sponsored data, so I'm assuming it's not counting towards the data threshold. Although I've never been throttled once in the past year for going over

I am similar with the exception of a dumb phone line for my dad (dumb phone with no use of any data) and and FAN of 20%, paying $81 (with all taxes and fees) now and probably $86 starting tomorrow...

My question is, if FAN can applied, can I retain the dumb phone line with my new unlimited or the second line has to be with unlimited?

I know it's been debated and questioned but fwiw, I was just told by a cs rep that the FAN discount will not apply to new unlimited plus plans.

Guess we will find out for sure in a couple days, hope she was wrong.

With the addition of tethering, it is now a deal (as far as at&t is concerned).
If you're a direcTV NOW customer like me, it's a great deal. I'm on the $35/mo. plan and unless there is some fine print, it means i will have 100 channels of cable for $10/mo. which isn't bad at all.

I was also very excited to learn about this Directv Now credit until I read the fine print; if you have the $35/month "Go Big," package you are unable to use the $25/month credit. With all of these companies I try to keep in mind the old adage: if it looks too good to be true-it probably is.

don't you have Overage feature that AT&T just throttle you down, instead of charging extra for going over 20GB? how much were you paying for 20GB share?

I am thinking of switching my 2 lines (one line is grandfather unlimited) to 15GB + 5GB bonus for $120 - 21% discount that include rollover, overage, tether. Saving $8 a month and share 20GB for 2 lines, no worry about overage.

new unlimited plan is nice but cost more and I don't need that much data.

Just switched to the unlimited plus. The rep kept telling me I needed Direct tv to enable tethering. I told him that's not the case but he wouldn't budge. I'll call another rep and get it enabled.

Are you sure it was unlimited plus and not the current unlimited plan? Plus isn't out yet.

I don't know if it's the right one. Itjust says the new unlimited Plan.

AT&T Free Msg: Thanks for adding the new AT&T Unlimited Plan to your account. Remember TV service is not required for this plan. Visit att.com/unlimitedinfo for full details on your new plan. Usage, speed & other restrictions apply.

Definitely a good step for me, too. I'm an Indians fan living in Florida so the mobile MLB.tv app is priceless.

Ya. I wonder what kind of proritization I'll get after midnight here in Miami after 22gb since I use my phone more at this time than any other time.
