They just told me that my FAN does not apply at all (no choice of FAN vs. $25 DirecTV credit either). I complained heavily about that because if I decide to cancel DirecTV for any reason I will not get any type of discount since this new plan essentially renders my FAN discount useless. Plus I suspend my DirecTV service for 6 months every year so I don't even think I'll see any type of discount until I start up my DirecTV service again in August.

This is pretty crappy by AT&T. Even with this new plan they are definitely lagging behind Verizon and T-Mobile, and their customer service is terrible. Every time I call them now it's at least 1 hour on the phone for even the most basic request. That's just unacceptable.

I really wish AT&T would get it together. I'll just gonna give up and take my Veteran ID card to the AT&T store and take a 15% discount. It's not 25% but it's better than nothing

Just signed up on the phone app for unlimited plus. FAN discount is not allowed... Which is crap. It makes T-mobile way cheaper. Gonna switch when the new phones come out.

So I went ahead and chatted with another rep to make sure the FAN discount kicks in, nope. Even after having a previous conversation with a rep that I have documented telling me YES. This is total crap. I'm going to get them to put me back on my previous plan. AT&T is total chaotic.

The site has been mostly down for me today (including right now) but I eventually got through to a rep. She said no FAN discount, but the plan would cost the same as my current unlimited plan (the one where I had to have DirecTV).

The app however, still shows me having my FAN discount, with the new Unlimited Plus plan.

I have not received any email confirmation, either.

I'm not sure what kind of crap AT&T is pulling, but I just logged in to my account via the AT&T app on my iphone and noticed that Stream Saver was turned on for both of my lines (I had turned it off for both lines). They said that once you turned it off it would never turn back on. Between the bs with not allowing FAN discounts on the new plan and now this, I think I'm done with AT&T. There just isn't a good enough reason for me to stay with them anymore.

Same thing happened to me. I had turned it off weeks ago. After changing to the new unlimited plus plan, I went and checked it to see, and it was turned back on. I did turn them all back off again

No, but its based on the price. There are two options. One for $145 and one for $175. The $175 is the plus. Additionally, that was as soon as it went live, so I'm sure the entire system is still updating.

Got it. Just didn't want to assume.

I got that pricing but when I tapped to go with that plan it produced a message saying it didn't include tethering.

Its a poorly worded statement. That message actually means you can't use this plan in a hotspot device, not your device as a hotspot.

FAIL. No FAN discount

This is exactly why I decided to switch to the previous version of the unlimited plan. I have a 25% FAN discount and was at least able to save $15 off my monthly bill - the total will be $125 pre-tax, approximately $148 post-tax. In the 8 years that I've been using smartphones, I've never used tethering, so it's not a dealbreaker.

On a different note, knowing that I can be saving nearly $50/month with T-Mobile really makes me wish that their coverage was more reliable. I'd switch in a split second.

I Have 7 lines and the plus plan is going to save me over 100$ including DIRECTV credit. I have a FAN 28% discount that unfortunately will not apply but I'm not that all bothered since I'm saving a ton. For those of you switching to TMo or Sprint just be careful. Not all cell service is created equally. I've had friends flip AT&T the bird and move on, only to come back. You may find spending alittle more on AT&T cell service is worth it.

I just went to the ATT store close to my work. The rep was really nice and used their store tablet to run a scenario to compare my current plan to the new Unlimited Plus for 2 lines. I have the email with the quote that came direct from an ATT email. The Unlimited Plus plan costs $155 (not considering the $10 discount from Auto Pay) which is basically $115 + $20 (1st line) + $20 (2nd line). My FAN discount of 22% DOES APPLY to the $115. Here is how the quotes breaks out before taxes on the email I received. Note that the discount of $25.30 which is 22% of $115 as I described above.

EDIT: Well, as you can expect ATT is a disgrace. The rep that quoted me the above just called me and said the FAN discount only applies to the Unlimited Choice. The discount for the Unlimited Plus is the $25 from DirectTV. What a stupid company!!!!!!

I just switched to the new Unlimited Plus.

The website was wonky, but I was able to make the change through the AT&T app.

I got an email about the change, and then a text message alerting me that I can turn off Stream Saver. I imagine that the others on my family plan got that same "Stream Saver" text.

I lost the FAN, but I am still saving $3 compared to what I was paying with the old Unlimited Plan with the FAN (20%). And that is on top the $20 I was saved moving from the old Talk, Text, and Grandfathered Unlimited iPhone Plan to the AT&T Unlimited Plan.

ETA: And now I can tether… I followed the suggestions about rebooting the phone and I see that Tethering now works on my iPhone (for the first time, after 9 years!!!).

Losing the FAN, though, makes it less attractive to stay with AT&T. Should coverage improve on the other networks in my neck of the woods, I'm outta here…

Each location is different but ive seen several studies that now show ATT in 3rd place behind Verizon and t mobile. Either way you get 20 days to try new network and get your money back. Its not like either the current unlimited or old unlimited are contracts so you can go and come back as you please. I lose nothing by trying T mobile service. Heck the sim cards today are 3.99 each instead of $25 so they are just asking for my service. 4 lines = 15.96 for the sims plus a cheaper plan. If i dont like the service i get my 15.96 back

I have 8 lines, 5 iPhones & 3 iPads, on the 20gb plan doubled to 40. It would cost me $50 more to go to the new plan so I guess I stay where I am. How long is the DIRECTV $25 discount supposed to last?

The problem with these studies is that they all omit what is probably the most crucial factor of wireless service - COVERAGE. T-Mobile might be faster than AT&T, but they have a long way to go to match AT&T's coverage footprint.
