So if no corporate discount it seems the unlimited data offered last week would be the better deal because of the corporate discount and 4 lines for 180 then 4 lines for 185 without discount but would lose tethering which I would not use anyway. I am thinking I should switch today before the new plan takes affect

I'm on T-Mobile, with about 10 lines (business plan)

But I fail to see why anyone is still on AT&T.

With T-Mobile being the cheaper option, and Verizon having a vastly better network than AT&T while still being cheaper, it astounds me that people are still on AT&T.

This is not meant as a personal attack, please explain why you wouldn't switch from them?

Are you asking why anyone is still on AT&T or why anyone who has unlimited everything is still on AT&T? The latter is the better question here, since many people (like me) are happily on AT&T with non-unlimted plans, paying LESS than these unlimited plans. I have 30GB each month with rollover, hotspot/tether, unlimited talk/text, and North America Roam (Mexico and Canada use plan like normal), and pay $165/mo for 5 lines. We, as a family, rarely use more than 10GB, so to pay more for Unlimited ($205 on this new plan?) is throwing money out the window. I also get to use my CC to pay for my bill, unlike this new plan. :) Forgot to mention, AT&T is also giving me a practically free iPhone 7 Plus with monthly bill credits. I'm happy.

Coverage. TM's coverage isn't that good above ground in the Philly suburbs let alone underground in the subway

I take trips into our national parks in the west (i.e. Yosemite, Arches, Zion, etc.) and I can get service with ATT but not with TMobile. If TMobile had better coverage once your outside of urban areas I would definitely switch.

This is a much better deal for those who don't care about tethering. $115 for 2 lines and $20 per aditional line is actually pretty good, i am shocked that AT&T did this, but I guess they had to, they must have had customers leaving in droves the last few days.

T-Mo is still the best deal because of the lack of taxes and fees. That marketing strategy plays really well with customers, people want an all in price without having to worry about calculating taxes and fees.

*edit* I missed the fact that you are capped to 3mbps with the $115 deal... AT&t still sucks lol.

At this point, with the grandfathered unlimited, I'd be happy with 5gb of tethering...

thats why I jumped ship to T-mobile. Even switched my grandfathered iPad plan and got two $150 dollar checks for the switch!

F/U ATT! you've nickled and dined us loyal customers for years. Remember when we couldn't even FaceTime on our phones!

You realize the $115 plan not only does not include hotspot/tethering, but it is also speed capped ALL THE TIME at 3Mbps? That means 480p streaming. You really have to have meager needs to switch to this plan.

The DIRECTV NOW $35 Go Big plan is excluded from the $25 credit. From the fine print "DIRECTV NOW (excludes Go Big $35/mo. plan)"

THIS lock-in attempt reminds me of Apl.... I'll stick with my 15GB Fan rollover hotspot Family plan thank you. Don't need smoke and mirrors. Its like Cox with the "mountain of mail" for Cox home Security, Direct TV offers are not far behind

These companies seriously insult people's intelligence.

Probably a dumb question, but, while tethering can I still use data on my phone ?
Meaning if my kids phone is using tethering can I still browse the internet on my phone.

I just switched from AT&T to Verizon, but when I was with AT&T we had a family plan. I think it was a family "value" plan. Anyway, I was able to use my iPhone while an iPad was tethered to it.

For me with the FAN discount i am at 193.6. FAN is only applied to the data plan. So the $60 plan turns into 48.60 for me. Plus access charge $40 for my line, $80 for another 2 smartphones access charges and then $25 access charge for a basic phone comes to 193.6. Unlimited plus as per the news headline would turn this 3 smart+1 basic group i have to 185 (2 smarts are 145 plus $20 for each addl device). So even if it doesnt have FAN discount i am saving money.

Do those of us on the grandmothered unlimited plans benefit from any of this? Is it finally time to get on one of these new plans?

oh oops I didn't realize they capped you at 3mbps. I retract my statement lol

depends on what you have but i would think so. The $5 increases coming in March made it the grandfathered plan more $ than last weeks unlimited plan. Now this unlimited plus seems to be cheaper than even last weeks unlimited plan.

No you aren't..a family plan would be significantly less and does not require lock in. They like you.

Those original iPad unlimited plans go for $1000-2000 on eBay. You could have sold them for a lot more than $150 each.

I'm considering dumping mine, but last I checked the plans were significantly lower than $1000 for the actual sale. Guess I'm going to keep checking.

Kinda dumb about the tethering thing
Verizon slows down just to 3G after 10GB of tethering

Not to mention Verizon is cheaper

I ditched my grandfathered AT&T unlimited data plan last week after I discovered I was a victim of the "mobile cramming" scam. Trust lost... and the $31 refund paid for my first month of a Wal-Mart postpaid plan. The warden's line is next up, in March.
