Did he mean/say 'uptick' in sales?

No "uptake" is when a customer that was previously an Android or Windows customer chooses to convert to an iPhone. "Uptick" would just imply an increase in sales across the board for the device (including current iPhone users).

Apple have Samsung to thank for opening up the 'phablet' market but Samsung have Apple to thank for touch screen smart phones.

Amazon

Apple needs to hire some amazon web folks. They seem to know how to do high volume online ordering.

I sat from 2am cst to 3 refreshing and trying to make the store app work on 3 different I devices and 2 laptops. Never worked so I went to bed. Their tech expertise sucks.

Apple won't get my money for 2 128 gb plus phones until I can get it done easily without standing in line.

I have preordered or stood in line for every phone, but I am getting too old for this ****. And the **** itself is getting stale.

Get it together.

The fact that most iPhone 6 models still have a order arrival date of 9/19 and the 6+ models are only at 3-4 weeks delay really confirms that Apple stepped up the initial production quantities.

I know last night kind of sucked ft orders due to tech issues, but we really have to hand it to Apple for anticipating the huge demand and the have enough phone to meet the demand.

Good job Apple!

FYI - I know you know but to be even more clear, my ordered 6+ is in schedule for delivered date by 9/19.

Design means what for him? - That is my question.
People still do not know what design means.

Design is a multi, multidisciplinary profession, it is not what he implied, or is it me, who is stretching?

What caught me totally off-gaurd, was that I was able to pre-order my iPhone6 on AT&T's site 10 minutes before midnight last night. No problems, and delivery slated for the 19th.

Same boat. $650 is hard to swallow.

I had a broken 5S with unlimited data 3 weeks ago (the screen was cracked and the earpiece was non-functioning). I sold it for $375 then temporarily bought an iPhone 4 for $20. I preordered the 64GB iPhone 6 for $800 with tax this morning at Verizon and they offered me $200 for my iPhone 4.

When it's all said and done, I have traded a broken 16GB iPhone 5S for a 64GB iPhone 6 costing me $245. That is very reasonable to me, and I still have unlimited data.

Regardless, every other year when I do have an upgrade I have found a loophole so that I don't lose unlimited data while still getting the upgrade price.

Same here. I was up at 1am my time for over an hour and TMo and Apple were yet to be online. I went to bed and woke up at 7am and couldn't place an order online still, it would crash each time. I called TMo and they couldn't do it over the phone due to demand.

I then decided to go to the store and their systems were down too. They told me to come back on the 19th (Launch Day) and "hope" to get one, but I need two.

Talk about major FAIL on everyone's part. Each are billion $ companies and cannot get the proper tech in place to handle the demand is pathetic.

Or maybe no one wants the 4.7 version. Everyone wants the 5.5

Or maybe Apple has plenty of 4.7 and the 5.5 was met with all of the production issues and low yield reports that bombarded us for weeks.

This is what I'm leaning towards. We were TOLD this, by fairly reliable sources. There was NO iPhone 6 Plus inventory available for 9/19 delivery.

I have yet to find one person that ordered through Apple and has a 6+ scheduled to deliver on the 19th.

Chatted with a specialist 3 separate times last night online. No issues.

"everything is going well."

Haha, yeah, unless you need to talk to Apple Support today. All calls go to "we're swamped, we can't talk to you today *click*." What's worse is that there is no queue or any even vague attempt at providing service today.

Great job, Apple. Drop a huge product and not have the support staff on hand to handle it. Stuff like this and the Livestream SNAFU makes me wonder what you guys are doing all day in Cupertino.

Regardless of phone size, the person just watching me talk on the phone somewhere looks like a bigger idiot.

I'm not mad. I'm laughing. It's funny how people complain that the Android phones are no good because of the size then Apple does the same and all of a sudden this size of product is cool.

Apple so is a cult and people feel they need the latest Apple iDevice to be a part of it. Even if they really don't like said type of device they'll buy it cause of the  on the back.

Some would ask, does this make you an iTroll?

The role of smartphones and mobile devices has changed in the last few years. I was happy with the 3.5" screen, then 4" screen, and my needs seem to change so that it's much more convenient to do more on my phone. With that convenience, I also wanted more screen real estate to do more of those tasks more easily. At least we have screen options now so there's something for everyone.

I just don't get the concept of carrying a mini iPad around in your pocket.

A pocketable mini iPad mini that also has full iPhone phone functionality when one needs to take or make a call IS the concept… a very, very appealing concept for some (like me). Now, instead of having a "too small"-screened iPhone AND a bigger-screened iPad, one device can cover both needs… and fit in a pocket.

Is it for everyone? No. But for those that have long wanted an even smaller iPad and those who have always wanted an even bigger-screened iPhone, these new options are very desirable.

And I get this sentiment...

If they offered the iPhone 6 in the body of the 4S, that would be my number one choice.

…but the question is will you buy an iPhone 6 anyway? If you do, then Apple still gets the money it wanted to make from you, so the decision from a business standpoint works. Only if many refuse to adopt the 6 and/or switch to competitor (Android) phones at <= 4" does Apple get some sense of making a "mistake" and thus get some buyer pressure to correct that "mistake".

To whine/gripe but then buy anyway is no different than us bigger-screen people whining/griping about 4" screens in past years, buying iPhones anyway and just dealing with it. This is the "just deal with it" concept working the other way. As it was then, it is now: all the whining/griping in the world isn't going to yield a 4" iPhone 6. All that resurrects the 4" screen iPhone is enough people not buying the 6 that Apple feels the pain in the sales volume. If they do, they'll adjust.

What is your plan? Do you expect Apple to train up and staff ten times its normal staff just they can handle this 24 hour period? These employees aren't migrant workers who Apple can just swing by home depot with a pickup truck on launch day and grab.
The livestream was a real snafu. And the website might be a snafu or it might just be that too many folks tried to buy phones today. There is a limit to technology. And technological resources can't be built up and maintained just so the heaviest six hours out of the year is smooth.

Ordering with AT&T and shipping dates

Well just to add my experience. I was checking AT&T early 5 til but did not see if was open early like a few found. After struggling a bit I got in to make the upgrade available to me (their next one with monthly payments). I got my order in for a 128 GB Grey, 6 Plus. after a pause I got a web confirmation but like so many no email. That was 2:10 AM central (12:10 AM Pacific). And like many the order number did not work for along time. Then at 9 AM central I got my confirmation order email but the shiping/dates were still pending. Finally at around 10 AM central time I got the revision with shipping dates: 10/31 to 11/11. Obviously as many noted Apple may have kept the plus to itself and my order appears to be one of the many waiting email confirm long time and thus even at 10 minutes after opening I got this late shipping oh well at least I am gonna get one and I can suffer using my "old" 64 GB 5s (going to set my wife up on it when I get my 6 Plus).

This happens EVERY new iPhone launch (not S series) and NO ONE, ATT, VZ or Apple has solved their technological issues to handle the demand.

Im an iPhone fanboy too but STOP defending them. So pathetic.

Have you tried to confirm your order on AT&Ts site later this morning? Just curious if yours actually got through. Mine didn't process.
