don't worry, with god on your side I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. It will actually give him an excuse for not helping all those starving children in Africa.

"what...ohhh...yea, sorry about all those kids, yea droughts are tough. Where was I? I was uh, busy. With what? I was making sure an AT&T rep hooked up jasonsav with an early upgrade on the iPhone 3GS! Hey man, some things are just more important, it's got a digital compass and video for christ's sake!'

You're a real jerk.

I Qualify for the 199 pricing!!! (thats what the apple website says).

Will these only be available at an apple store friday morning? Or Can i go to an att store early? Att opens at 9am. When the 3G came out when did people start going there? 5am? 6am? Also, when i get to the part about purchasing the iphone 3gs on the web site it never loads. Is this because they are sold out? overloaded? what.?

I just bought the iphone 3G S 16 GB White!!! For $208!!! Will ship 2-4 business day and will arrive between June 24-27

Tried to Order

I just saw this thread this morning, and thought maybe I should try going through the ordering process on Apple website to see if I'm qualified now for the lower subsidized price....NOT! GRRRRRR!

AT&T Upgrade Site

Is anyone having any luck going to their upgrade site? Since yesterday it keeps saying there was an error processing my request. AT&T told me yesterday that as of today I would be eligible for the 199/299 price so I am trying to verify.

what?

My status is the same today as it was yesterday and don't quite understand.

You are not eligible to upgrade at a discounted price due to your length of service. However, you may still purchase a phone/device at the full price. Our records indicate that you will be eligible for an upgrade at a discounted price on 07/22/2009

Whats up?

I bought the 3G on launch day last year and *should* qualify under the announcement from yesterday. But AT&T still says "You may qualify for a standard iPhone upgrade on 12/12/2009."

Have they not updated their systems yet, or am I for some reason still blocked out until December for some unknown reason?

2G customer not eligible?

First thing this morning I checked my status and it still shows June 21. Albeit a wait of just a couple of days, I called AT&T. (I lots my iphone 2g one month ago and have been going crazy!)

1) The rep did not know about the press release. I had to direct him to the site.

2) They said that although I had a 2g which I paid full price, have a monthly bill that exceeeds $100, that I was not eligible because it was only for 3g users who bought in July, Aug and Sept of 2008. I nicely explained that this does not make any sense and asked to speak to a supervisor. Then of course, I lost reception and was disconnected.

This appears to be a glaring oversight of behalf of AT&T. Anyone else have this problem?

Man I dont give a damn what ATT says, I know that if everybody else is getting a discount I better because I bought my IPhone 3G last July. I send my damn Pre Order back to Apple if I have to.

To be quite honest I was one of those people who didn’t care either way what happened, I was planning on paying for it at either price point. To me, the fact that I had a contract with AT&T overrode my desire for a lower price. But I must say, AT&T has really done a great job at extending an olive branch to some iPhone owners including myself.

I do worry though that this sets the wrong precedent and I foresee AT&T having problems from Blackberry users and future iterations of the iPhone.

On The Phone To Verify With AT&T Now

Here is what I was told yesterday:

Asked the rep how much it would cost me to upgrade given the new requirements (as of yesterday I was December eligible and spend 90 per month on my bill) final answer is I am eligible as of tomorrow to get the new iphone for the 199/299 price tag. I took the rep's name down and what city he works in in case at&t gives me trouble tomorrow. I am slightly excited but will be pumped if this is true and I can buy one tomorrow!

I am on the phone now to verify that what they told me is true, here is what they told me:

-Mr Sanchez (no I am not making that up) in El Paso told me I was eligible yesterday
-She said it's not eligible
-She said I don't fit the profile
-She stated the new requirements are for people that bought the iphone 3G in the last 90 days
-I said no, it's not, it states that it's for people who purchased the iphone 3G in Jul-Sep of last year. I also pointed out the fact that I paid full price for the iphone 3G last year and stated I wasn't trying to bilk AT&T out of 2 subsidies.
-She put me on hold and came back and said I am eligible for the 199/299 price in a very cheerful voice I might add.
-She stated to go into the physical AT&T store to purchase because Apple has reserved the right to say no, you are not eligible.

I hope this helps some people, once again here is my background
-Bought Iphone 3G on July 11th, 2008 at full price ($499)
-My monthly bills are 89.99 before tax, after discount and taxes it is around $85.

Question.. are the people who are slating the complainers iPhone users? and if so are you not glad that some of you are saving money if you were going to get the 3GS. If you are not iPhione users then i can understand why you think we are a set of moaning gits and do you know what you are probaly right!

Youre LAME and IGNORANT

Thanks for the info. What number did you use?

WOW Bitching like babies works!

Every cell phone company I have been with so far has made you pay full price for a new phone if you wanted one before your contract was up.

I couldn't agree more.

After going through all that work to secure the 199/299 price I don't think I am going to upgrade for a couple of reasons. One, who knows what Steve will come back with in the coming weeks although I highly doubt it will be a new iphone. Two, the 3Gs doesn't seem to have Steve's fingerprints on it, it's just better innards than the 3G so who knows. Three, if I take the subsidy now then I will screw myself out of getting the next iteration which will no doubt have a different form factor than the 3G and 3Gs. The only real benefit to upgrading now would be twice the memory but I don't think that's worth my 300 bucks.

wrong.

there won't be anything new until next year and when they do release a new product, you will be eligible for an upgrade - just like the 3G, 3Gs and the future model.
