I had a credit charge for the iphone price on hold on my debit card since june 16 when i pre-ordered on the At&t site on the 15th but today it disappeared
Is it because there going to charge when it ships? but shouldn't the transaction still be on my bank account activity as processing. I checked my order status on at&t and it still says processing which got me a little less worried.

This is just a debit card thing. There is a maximum period that the bank will keep the authorization hold without the retailer moving forward to collect payment. Once the phone ships the amount that was held before should come right out of the account.

Sonofa... Thought I had been lucky since I hadn't seen the 'Attention!' status through the Premier site. Checked today and BAM there is the 'Attention!' status...and of course, nobody answers the phone a Saturday...

Thanks that answered my question too that was right above Dallas's

I preordered my iPhone 3GS from AT&T and i preordered the iPad from Apple and that's the way they both handled both transactions.

Some companies, though, like Zagg, will finalize the transaction at the very beginning and will ship the item you preordered later when it comes out.

I ordered in store and did the whole pen and paper route since everything was messed up on the 15th. Got my Conf. email and when checking my order all looks good, "processing", 6/15/10, etc. I haven't noticed any hold or charge on my Debit card but I didn't check it till a couple days after so any hold may have disappeared.

I have to say the ATT rep at the store went above and beyond to help even calling me after 8pm to ensure I had gotten a conf. email. Even with all the hassle and mystery surrounding shipping dates I'm pretty happy about that.

AT&T had to take my order the same way at approximately 4:00 pm, and they called me the next day to say they stayed there until midnight to enter all the manual orders into their system.

Strangely, I have yet to receive an e-mail confirmation of my order. However, the AT&T website has record of my order on the 15th (thank God) and that it is not on back-order (status: In Progress). So far, so good, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for delivery at the store on the 24th.

$18 Upgrade Fee

Ok, so I have a 3G iPhone and my contract expired this month. I pre-ordered the iPhone 4 on the Apple website and it is now preparing to ship. While I was placing the order through Apple it had the $18 upgrade fee with a line over it and beneath it said 'fee waived'.

Yesterday, I received my new CSS from AT&T and what do you know, an $18 upgrade fee shows up on what the new estimated bill will be.

I refuse to pay these guys this ridiculous fee, I've been with them for 9 years and find these fees a slap in the face to loyal customers. Has anyone else had this scenario?

Ordered mine at 6am ish on June 15, although it says I ordered on the 16th...and mine has alwyas been in the ordered column, never backordered. Hoping this comes on the 24th, if not before July2d, Ill be away for a month! :(

AT&T will be delivering my new iPhone into my hot little hands on the 24th as expected...

Breathing A Slight Sigh of Relief

I'm really glad that I stumbled over this board. I was really considering canceling my pre-order and take my chances with the early morning crowd since I didn't get mine in until after the supposed time that they would not be able to get it to me by the 24th. After seeing that mine is not considered back-ordered, I'm now holding out hope that they'll have one for me on Thursday. I also talked with one of the guys at AT&T and he told me that they received notice at 4:00p.m. on the 15th that they had exceeded their allotment, but they were then sent a memo a couple of days later stating that they are working diligently to meet all of the pre-orders that were taken on the 15th and to disregard the original 4:00p.m. cutoff. I have to wonder if AT&T is cutting into their first-come-first-serve units in order to do this. All I know is next Thursday cannot get here fast enough! :D

AT&T store

I went to the AT&T store on the 15th and waited in line for a few minutes and got mine pre-ordered...they authorized my credit card on the 16th...but when I go to the AT&T website it doesn't show any orders for me. Do you have to order online in order to see it on the website?

I placed my order at att.com on the 15th at 11:26am. No charge to the CC yet but order status shows it's not backordered.

Odd the status page says it was ordered on the 17th though.

You are exactly right!! I spoke to a "supervisor" at AT&T today and he said eventhough I ordered mine at 4:18pm EST, I will be getting it June 24th. My phone will be in the first batch. :)

I also have your problem. I called AT&T and a rep told me that even though the website says I ordered at the 16th in their system it says that I ordered at the 15th. I really hope he was telling the truth and not just saying something to get me out of the way...

I ordered it at the crack of dawn, If I don't get it by the 24th I will be pissed!!!!!!

I don't even have any of these tables on my order status page, and I ordered the morning of the 15th (around 6:30 AM). Does this just mean mine hasn't be prepared yet?
I only get this as well. Premier order at 4:30AM Eastern. Fifteen mins to pre-order mine and 15 mins to pre-order an 8GB 3GS for my wife. No credit card charges yet ....

Rgds, Jeff

You guys relax. The qty back ordered column is meaningless. Wether you got a 1 or 0 is arbitrary since all are not shipping until AT&T gets their inventory. So relax. If you ordered before 1:30pm ET on the 15 th you will get the phone before the 26 th. Not all are guaranteed on the 24 th. If you ordered after that time, then it will come early July. But the back order is not important.

I had the same thing happen. However, if you call AT&T customer service or go to an AT&T store once you get your next bill that includes the upgrade fee, they will gladly waive it. I did it when I bought my 3G and also when my girlfriend bought her iPhone and added a line to my plan. Neither time were we actually eligible for no upgrade fee, but they will gladly waive it if you tell them the store rep said to call to have it waived. Should be even less of a problem now that you actually ARE supposed to be upgrade fee free.

I was having logging in to AT&T last night. I tried again this morning and it finally started working.

As of just now, the AT&T order status page does not work for me, giving me the OS011... wait wait wait...

It just worked for me with my wireless number.

So whats the Backordered 1 mean? If I remember from like 15 pages ago, it means I have one with my name on it?

I ordered two (one for my wife's upgrade and one for mine), but one of them had to be charged manually since the ordering system at my AT&T went down.

I've only gotten an order confirmation for one of the phones. They said that the manual charges may not get confirmation emails. Did anyone else run into this?

Top this

Got my 2 phones ordered and confirmed on launch day, albeit manually. Got the 2 emails for my 2 phones...all good right? Nope. Got a call from my bank today to ask me about 2 charges that they flagged as possible fraudulent charges. It was actually both charges for my iPhones. They held one and rejected the other. They have since cleared the way for the hold to go through but no idea on the second phone. The AT&T store is not sure because they can't reauthorize the charge because their system is down. To their credit they are going to work with me. They told me that if I got there at 7am and my phones were not in the shipment, they would make sure I left with my phones. Of course he promised nothing, just said he would work with me. Unreal.

Ark, see if you bank block the charges since it might have been 2 charges simultaneously. My bank said they had a lot of people calling in to complain about their iphone order being flagged as possible fraud.

Ok, the pending charge on my debit card for my iPhone order is no longer showing up in my online bank statement as it had been since Wednesday. Should I be worried? Ordered on the 15th at 12:20pm CST; online order status shows ordered on the 16th.

Backordered means they do not have enough units in stock to fulfill all the current orders, so it looks like you will have to wait to get yours since all of their current stock is going to people who ordered before you.
