I checked my order around 6pmET and it showed I was on backorder. I just checked again at 9pm ET and it no longer shows as backordered. Not sure if that is a good thing or not. As background, I placed my order over the phone with my AT&T Premiere business account rep.

Question???

I ordered my IPhone late Tuesday night at an AT&T store, but while the customer service rep was processing my request the online system came back up for a moment and she was able to get me an account number and everything. I looked at my order status on AT&T's website and it shows "In Progress," with no back orders for both phones. I have two pending charges on my credit card account. Do es it sound like I'm going to get them Thursday? Does anyone know when they are actually supposed to charge us? I heard when they ship, and when we get them. Sorry if I sound so needy, but I'm anxious as hell...first time IPhone owner. Bought my wife the IPad...now she's hooked.

So AT&T are shipping the 24th? or are they still trying to arrive the 24th?
It seems to me they'll ship from Apple not AT&T for quite a while.

has Apple put something addictive in my water? I can't believe I am reading all these posts. Apparently, checking the AT&T site multiple times a day is not unique ;)

Just got a call from wireless service's (not premier) and they told me that even though i ordered on the 15th at 5:10am, my product was backordered and that this issue has to do with apple "limiting our supply, since they don't have enough for themselves"

I have no idea where to go from here...

That would be a pretty crappy move on Apple's part. Hopefully that was just one of your buddies pranking you.

Order Number

The order numbers definitely are not all the same format, mine starts with 505. There's no - in my order number either, 5051*******, in total, a solid 11 numeral order number. I finally got my order in around 545pm on the 15th. (AT&T order status online says 6/16 order date like most, however)

My order number is only 5 digits...is this bad??????

Are you serious?????????????????????

Websites were crashing and going slow on the 15th so I went to an ATT store to pre-order. I have not read anyone getting this email message:
I got it, it was in my confirmation email that came at 10AM. I was first in line in my AT&T store, 9AM on the 15th, everything went smooth, order is still showing "In progress":
Dear *********,

Thank you for your recent order. Your iPhone has been reserved and is expected to ship on or after June 24, 2010. Your order details as well as activation instructions are included below.

I'll be calling back again on monday to premier services just to double check... but it would certainly make some sense seeing as how much of a colossal failure this whole pre-sale situation has been.

If this is true, and the rumors of AT&T going by when the order was placed is true, there are going to be a lot of pissed off folks who ordered thru AT&T come Monday as you ordered very early. That would mean something like 90% or more of the orders through AT&T are being held up for this.

But, to be perfectly honest, I doubt this is the case. Not doubting your story, I just think somebody is playing with you or there is some mixup involved.

I received a 5 digit confirmation number via email. I do not have an Order ID to see my order in my premiere online account. Going to the regular order status site using my wireless number, I can find my order number (like 12 or so digits).

BTW...just to stir the pot a little, I heard from what I consider a very good source that our local Apple Store already has their initial allotment of new iPhones in their storage room, but obviously cannot start giving them to those with reservations.

Ordered phones for work over the phone early the 15th and the next day it showed as back ordered. Just received an email acknowledging the order and I am no longer shown as back ordered.

There are multiple threads on MR as well talking about this. It sounds as though these are cancellations on duplicate orders. Apple & AT&T announced only one preorder per account. Many people were able to put in multiple orders and even duplicate orders, one through Apple and one through AT&T.

Is this your case? If so, hopefully you get at least one of your phones.

why is premier services calling you? Just out of the blue?

My rate plans now show on my order status. They were not there this morning.

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the shipping address if ordered through AT&T? I called and talked to some dolt about changing it but decided against going very far with him because I was slightly worried it would end up with my order getting canceled...

I just checked my order number and it's different than the one sent in the email, it's 13 digits and still processing...damn the agony!!!!!!

Exactly the same here, ordered through Premier Sales on 6/15 around 5am PT, it's no longer on backorder as well. I did actually asked the CSR who processed my order about the shipping date, she said it will be shipped on the 24th:confused:.

A year ago I went through the same thing with the 3GS. I ordered via premier right away, and the order remained in "progress" for the longest time while others who ordered via "regular" AT&T had their phones move from backordered to shipped or in progress.

And at the last minute, my status changed to shipped and I got it release day like everyone else.

I think it's safe to say if you ordered on the 15th before the afternoon and your order wasn't cancelled and it still shows "in progress", you'll get it launch day.

It seems there are 3 different #s pertaining to an order:

Confirmation # - 5 digits
Order # - 14 characters, first 4 are letters
Order ID - don't know about that as I cannot find out what mine is and probably related as to why I cannot see my order on the premiere site
