Hmmm...VERY interesting. Mine is an additional line as well.

Hmmm...I added a line too.

As of 10 minutes ago my status is unchanged since 6/18. (2 32GB models, never backordered, still "In Progress." My card hasn't been charged yet.)

I completed my order about 5 pm CDT on the 15th and received e-mail confirmation the following day. The order number begins with 5051.

Hey guys and gals, to the few that are left, that did order on 6/15, and do not have the phones, I wanted to do a quick poll....

are you
1. doing an upgrade for your att account?
2. doing a port from another carrier?
3. a brand new activation but not porting number.

if anyone can reply real quick with which scenario you are in, I'd appreciate it.

my order number is the 5051 batch. and I am in scenario number 2.

Thanks!

Well, AT&T narrowly avoided the largest preorder botch in electronics history today. I assume that this is all thanks to Steve Jobs, who upon witnessing last week's server failures and AT&T's logistical ineptitude, took over the reigns of the company and ensured that the preorders arrived on time.

actually nooooo there are quite a few of us that are still waiting for an unknown delivery date. AT&t sucks. They told me time and time again "oh yes sir you ordered in plenty of time and you will surely get your phone on the 24th".... bah humbug! Guess they didn't want this verizon customer bad enough

You said a bit earlier:

The CSR said mine is late due to the fact that it had to go through a credit approval process because it was a newly added line to an existing account...

Maybe something wrong on your end.

Doubt that cause my "pre-order" made on the 15th before noon has yet to ship.

I tried to port over from Verizon but the idiots at AT&T said they couldn't do it on the 15th over the phone and as we all know their site administrator probably hung themselves by the end of the day on the 15th so I just ended up getting a random number and I found I could port later on. still waiting now so I guess they treated me like your number 3 even though it's on my wifes account and she has two years of paying her bills on time.... so they are idiots if they really had to spend time checking my credit... which they found out is slightly higher then 750 so that decision should not have taken them real long to come to a conclusion I was good for it.

FWIW, my 2 phones came in on time.

Also worth noting I still had 5 months left on one contract and 6 on the other and AT&T let me upgrade with no extra fees.

Order # 68078. . .
Added a line to a family plan, no number port.
Ordered 6/15, no emails, posted 6/17, backordered for an hour then it went back. "In Progress". . . still waiting.

like I said... wifes account with 2 years of on time payment for her 3G phone and my credit score is slightly higher then 750 and I used a credit card I have had for 20 years and have tens of thousands of dollars in limit....

if there is something wrong on my end they are only selling iphones to the rich and famous.

Option 1 here.

I'm still very very pissed about this whole situation.

I think AT&T has done a TERRIBLE and DISHONEST thing here. I think they knew what was going down, knew a lot of orders were not even shipped yet (like mine) and did not tell anyone about this til today. I called several times yesterday to AT&T at both the store I ordered from and the main customer service line, and althought my order says "In Progress" since day one, they assured me I'd be getting it today... got the whole "shipping updates are just not being processed fast enough, but don't worry!" BS. And voila! I call today and get told the first time that lo and behold, my order is NOT EVEN SHIPPED. Had I known this yesterday, I'd have gone with my bro bright and early this morning and stood in line at the Apple store and cancelled this pre-order. What's the ***** use of having a pre-order that doesn't even show up? I'm thinking they held this information so we'd all be stuck in this situation.

Never ever again will I order from AT&T. I've had every iPhone that has come out on launch day and gone to Apple... they are never perfect, or even smooth for that matter, but at least I walk out with a phone. I have been an AT&T customer since before it was AT&T (since 2000) and I've NEVER had **** go down like this.

I agree completely with this, AT&T not only have the most terrible service they are also a bunch of scumbags. I work right next to a Walmart in a smaller size town, I could have gone before work this morning and picked up one. I was told the same song and dance as you... "oh sir you will get it we are sure of it since you ordered when you did" bulllll droppings. I am going to take a look at the Droid x when it's released on the 17th and I may not even leave Verizon at this point. No one is perfect but AT&T are just scumbags compared to the rest.

Yeah, Option 2 - Successfully ported my number from Verizon. Just need a phone to complete it.

But stuck in 5051 limbo. No word since confirmation email on 6/15. Never backordered.

Has your upgrade date been changed yet? Don't know for sure that it's an option, but maybe you can line up tomorrow and try to nab one of the reserved phones that weren't picked up? AT&T was just woefully unprepared for this... I'm sure their employees worked their asses off trying to get these out the door, but their superiors have handled official communications horribly.

hello all,

thanks to everyone that has participated in my mini poll thus far. I received feedback from att rep that the scenario such as mine (doing a port) have caused a lot of our orders being shipped out. but the quick informal poll does not show conclusively that it is that dominant of a result thus far. I still call BS that they are just making stuff up as they go along.

verify credit my butt. yet goes another night of waiting for my in progress to change from 100. meantime, while I have my coworkers waving their iphone4 in front of me, and asking where mine is.

we all have att to thank. thanks again att, for treating us this way, especially these customers that order on day 1!

:mad::mad::mad:

I think the term "scumbags" is too nice of a term. I can count on 2 separate instances, where I've been on hold for 50 mins, as soon as the phones are ringing and connecting, I get a pick up, and an instant hang up. the CSRs do this because they know they can get away with it. do you mean to tell me that the supervisors will monitor these huge volume of calls, and offer coaching? I think not.

I have spoken with 2 supervisors, which both are just dying to transfer me off, because that is just another way that I will no longer be "their" problem.

which is why I've said it all along, Apple is at fault here too. if you can do 5 carriers in Europe, then you can at least add another carrier here. heck, add Tmobile if you are too lazy to design a CDMA phone, but at least offer a competition to the market. Right now ATT is a true monopoly when it comes to iPhones, and what they say, goes. and we are all along with the crappy ride.

It has been changed already, so I'm sort of stuck with this now. The rep I spoke to (to be fair, I RAGED at) from the store I ordered from told me my options at this point were I could cancel my order that hasn't shipped and hope to get one from their store on a first-come first served basis on the 29th -- or just keep my order in hopes it'll ship eventually.

You see, I was initially stuck ordering from AT&T because they messed up my renewal eligibility date from the get-go and I had to go to the store to order it so they could enter in a special code to be able to fix their mistake... the kicker is, I ordered one for my mom too and she didn't need to be tied down to AT&T like this, so she's stuck needlessly with this crap.

I'm more than forgiving for mishaps... I know how business works, and I know not every customer can be happy 100% of the time, but the lack of communication and the furtherance of misinformation is unacceptable.

woody88, lol... I agree, scumbags is too light a term. I dunno though, Apple is to blame to a certain extent -- but I blame them more for leaving AT&T's hands tied to handle this situation in the first place. Had AT&T gotten proper supplies, I would like to think our orders would have been, at the very least, shipped by now. Perhaps I put too much faith in my mobile carrier though... Just like cable/internet providers, there are no "good guys" in this business. But you're most certainly right, a little competition never hurt anyone.
