Mine just went to "Preparing to ship". SG 8+ 256 ordered 12:13AM from AT&T website.

Well, I decided to wait for the X . . . however I'm having a great time reading this thread. It's almost as if I'm waiting on my order to ship as well I LOVE the excitement that accompanies these launches.

Im an apple upgrade person. When you look at the apple page it says "AppleCare + included". Uhhh we still have to pay for it right?

Nope. Tap additional options and they offer a 24 month plan without Apple care included in the cost.

Do you guys know you can buy 1 get 1 free, if you open a new line and have DirecTV? I have 4 lines, all phones paid off, so I'm going to cancel 2 lines and then buy 2 iPhone 8s and get 2 iPhone 8s free..or that is my current plan. I may just buy 1 and get 1, and then wait to see the iPhone X. I have a few days until the preorders arrive to decide.

I just ordered the 8+ 64gb on the 24 mo. plan. My payment went down $5/mo. I am trading in a 6s+ 64gb. I really don't understand how the payment can be lower but I'm doing the happy dance!
If I remember right, the 6S+ on ATT had 18 month or 20 month options, where the 7+ had the 24 Month option for Next Every year, as I did that last year. That may be why the 8+ & X would be cheaper a month since it's paid over 24 months, instead of 18 or 20.

Did you order Mobile Insurance?
Hmmmm I just scrolled down through the options and hit continue cause I was trying to get it ordered quickly (I usually don't do that) - do you know if something was automatically prechecked?

I believe it’s for if you’re doing a trade-in that’s probably the return box or something
Thanks! I'm doing the trade in as well :) that makes sense!

This ^ is correct - and solves the mystery. The Next plans were changed last year to 24 months with 1 year trade in option. This year they're spreading payments over the same. But the 6S/+ year it was 20 months.

I have a question for the people that ordered on Next. It looks like you can now put a down payment down, which will help lower the monthly payment, depending on how much you put down. My question is, does it give that option, and then make you also pay the tax when you order the phone?

Time for my yearly check in lol

Got rid of my 7 in April and went for the s8+. I know it's an Apple forum, but that phone was awesome. The 8+ did tempt me though (and so did the "new phone" feeling), so I pre ordered on the afternoon of the 12th. I was surprised that there were still some available for delivery on the 22nd, but hey, I'm not going to complain. I went with the 8+ over the X (that black bar at the top...) and decided to live a little and get the gold. I wanted rose gold, but the gold looks close enough. I went with the 64GB this time around, so hopefully I'll be good.

Haven't checked my tracking or account this morning, but they took their next upgrade money from my bank account :p

Is there any clear reason to order the AT&T version of the phone, vs. the SIM unlocked version from apple?

Was on the 24 month plan with the 6s+. Same with the new one.

Just pre-ordered my iPhone 8! Still says delivery date of 9/22! I'm guessing everyone is waiting for the X.

If you are an AT&T customer and plant to stay that way then there's no advantage of the sim-free version. The sim-free version is cool if you plan to switch between carriers - GSM or CDMA. I'm happy with AT&T so their GSM version is fine for me.

Don't think there's such a phone as GSM plus CDMA purchasable from AT&T. The Verizon phone, available from both the Apple Store and Verizon… Has both CDMA and GSM. But it assumes that you're a Verizon customer first.

I don't think Apple makes a truly all carrier phone purchasable everywhere.

The SIM FREE phone that apple sells says, active on any carrier.. wouldn't that be an essentially all carrier phone?

This is correct. Best Buy's iPhone 7s were also carrier agnostic (same sim-free version Apple Sold). I'm guessing they'll do that again this year.

For some reason I don’t see the option to add a down payment
