I really want a iPhone SE with OLED and updated specs.

That's pretty much what the iPhone 8 is. Except it's 0.7 inches larger than the SE. You're already used to the 4.7 inch size… Should be no problem. Apple will never make another 4 inch phone. That ship has sailed.

I don't mean a 4" screen, i'm talking about a phone roughly the size of the SE but with a larger OLED screen.

Hmm.. that doesn't seem logical.. you should pay more per month after trading in a phone after a year. The X is so much more expensive. I mean I hope you're right - but I'm skeptical about what that rep told you. Many of the reps are woefully undereducated about the new products.

Certainly a good point; I'll probably end up calling or even stopping by my local AT&T store to discuss such points. The other thing to consider is to order through Apple, and do an up-front down payment just to offset such an increase in cost. Can you do that with AT&T preorders? I didn't see anything obvious when going through the 8 preorder this morning when ultimately deciding I want the X.

Apple Store App. I’m part of the Apple upgrade program so it should be seamless. Also you can start the ordering process now for the 8 so it will be easy to just pull the trigger on launch. I’ll be doing this a few days before the X comes out so I can just wake up at 3am EST and pull the trigger.
Exactly how do you start the ordering process before the phones are available? Did you mean filling out billing and shipping information prior to the phone appearing for pre order?

Yes. AT&T has a Next 24 w/downpayment.. well at least they did last year.

I'm curious about this as well. I usually just reserve a phone & then go into apple store to pick up, but I wonder if I'm able to pay more (either online or in the apple store).

How would that work?

I hear a lot of you talking about how the iPhone X will simply be too expensive compared to the iPhone 8/8+… But aren't most of you on the monthly payment plan for your phone? Or do most of you buy the phone outright so that it's unlocked? To me the payment I'm playing now for my 7+ will only go up a few dollars a month with AT&T NEXT to get an X when it comes out and I turn in my 7+. So if my payment goes from $32 a month to $41 a month… It's just a no-brainer for me to get the X.

Some people prefer looking at the bigger picture. Sure the monthly difference doesn't seem that large, but it adds up to a significant difference. It's similar to the way many car dealers prefer to talk in terms of your monthly payment because it's easier to get customers to pay more for a car that way. Smart shoppers will base their purchase on the total cost of the car, not the monthly payment.

I'm not sure of the logistics behind it, but I did see the option to make a downpayment on Apple's website; I don't think I went that far on the Apple Store App.

Unless it's a lease.

I got an iPhone with the promotion last year with the $650 in credits being applied over 24 months.
If I sell the iPhone, will I still continue to receive the credits?

Just got back att. Did bogo deal. Added unlimited plan. Added line and will give wife other iPhone 8. Saved lot on cable too and changed from Uverse to direct tv. Also got 40% off beats headphone. Think best deal for us.

Yeaaaaaaaa, unfortunately it won't go this smooth when it comes to X time.

The 7s and 7s+ were predicted to be very easy to get as nothing note worthy of an upgrade for the most part if coming from the 7.

My 7+ is doing just fine so I will place my preorder for the X on pre order night and go from there and expect delays and then be surprised if not.

Enjoy!

If you've paid 50% on your Next Plan, can you turn in your phone and cancel your plan? I would like to switch to the Apple Upgrade Program when I buy the X.

I just ordered the 8+ 64gb on the 24 mo. plan. My payment went down $5/mo. I am trading in a 6s+ 64gb. I really don't understand how the payment can be lower but I'm doing the happy dance!

How did the pre-order process go for most? I'm hoping the iPhone X pre-order goes smooth but that might be wishing for too much with the demand that'll come behind it and all the rumors of shortages.

That's good to hear! Strange right? I'm hoping what I heard about the X is the same story. I'll see what AT&T people say tomorrow.

What I really need to know is if the iPhone X will be included in the offer later. I basically need to know this now so I know whether or not to hold off tomorrow.

I don't have a crystal ball but I can say this. I'll be shocked if AT&T offers the BOGO for the iPhone X. We'd sooner see a snowball in He(double hockey sticks). I wouldn't hold my breath on this one. ;)

I have to pay $40.37 to upgrade and then send the phone back to AT&T with the next program. I want to order from the Apple Store app, but I wanted to know if I would be able to, since I need to make that payment. I went to an AT&T store today and they told me I had to pay at the time of preorder, because it is all done in one transaction. Can that payment be done through Apple Store app or do I need to go through AT&T?

you always want to pay off your installments before ordering or you wont be able to, at least a day before you pre order. It will hold you up on pre order. Then you can pre order but still have to pay the tax

mine did the same last year going to the 7 plus.

Mine did the same thing last year going to the 7+, its cause ATT changes there plans all the time. it benifits us that the cell carries battle it out yearly....

I am on the next every year plan, and just bought the 8 plus, does anyone know how you receive the return label for the trade in? Email, Mail?

hey I just googled a lot of horror stories about trading in your phone for this program. a lot of people who had flawless phones got their trade-in rejected, and forced to pay off the rest of the phone. I'm thinking about canceling my order all together and just buying at a store..

From my understanding coming form ATT reps. Once you upgrade whatever current phone you have the bill credits stop.

I've read those too.. I've done this th past two ears and have been fine tho each time. Sucks that it seems hit or miss with a process that should be painless.

Is your 6s+installment plan done? you have paid the phone off?

One little benefit of the extra month's wait for the X is that those of us who used Next 24 last year and pre ordered would have one more payment due in Sept due to be able to trade in at the 12 month mark.

But now you'll pay your 12th payment (50%) here in September's bill. By the time you pre Order end of October no one will have to call AT&T the day or two ahead to "pay off" anything. .

In fact most of us will have paid a 13th payment for Oct. Wonder how AT&T will deal with that? Give us a lower payment on our X??
