This really sucks. I'm on the east coast and plan on waking up to pre-order. I'd really prefer not to wake up at 2:00 am just to 'wait in line'.
I'm in the midwest; I got up a half hour early for the 8 preorder (was on the fence about the 8 or the X; ultimately couldn't buy the 8, want the X), and I was one of the first in line -- kept refreshing the page as it got closer to going live.
When using the Apple Store app can I order two phones, one on my primary account number (my phone - which I believe is the option to "Replace this phone") and one for my wife using the option "buy this phone on another line"? Or do I have to order one on my phone and use the app on my wife's phone also? Both on Next plans.
I was wondering the same thing. Can I order on my own line then another for my daughter. Would I have to order separately?
Are you thinking of the AT&T account passcode? I always disable that when pre-ordering.
I am still using a 6 Plus, so I haven't pre-ordered in a few years. I just did a test run on the app for an 8 Plus, all of my information was already there, and wasn't asked for a passcode.

No it's the Apple Store app (I know this thread is for ATT site, but my carrier is ATT)
It checks with ATT, and on anything but the iPhone it send me a code (or did, I need to check this again and try a few things)
Anyway, I'm just going to use the iPhone, It's pretty easy (good to have a backup plan though).

I could have, and was planning to, I just ended up deciding to go with the X instead.
From my understanding once you got the countdown page on the ATT sire you were in a "line" waiting, ever time you refreshed your page you put yourself back at the end of the line.

I just paid off the remainder of my device installment plan, so I'm ready for Friday!
I believe during the iPhone 8 preorder the countdown page even said that you were in line and not to refresh. don't quite remember. Plus the ATT site started accepting orders about 5 minutes earlier than apple even started. Hoping that happens again for the X.
Will AT&T ask for the security passcode when pre-ordering through Apple website?

Is anyone here familiar with paying off a Next installment plan early? I was looking to pay off the remaining balance of my old phone so I'll be eligible to put the X on Next this friday during preorder. I'm just not sure how to do it. I tired to call CS but they're closed since its after 9pm est.
Sign in to your ATT account, and under payment activity and options, you can choose manage your installment plan and pay it off there

When I did mines, it only took a few minutes before it showed me as upgrade eligible
I know this is the wrong device to do this for but I plan on ordering the X through AT&T for the preorder because I’m opening up a new line. I’m sure I won’t get it on release day because I know how bad the carrier sites are. Has anyone ever had any luck? I wish you could open a new line through Apple.
I would call att and get the line activated before hand. I think they could hold the line for a bit so you could preorder and not go through the whole process of activating the line and preordering at once

Does anyone know how the Next plan's trade-in process works with pre-orders? Do we enter the countdown/queue site just like everyone else, but there'll be an option to trade-in our current phone when we try to order? And then once we place the order for the X, the X's box will have a prepaid label inside? Not sure if there's a way to indicate that we want to trade in a phone before the pre-order. Thanks!
