Can't answer the first but in my weeks of researching and reading, I believe if you don't pay in full whatever card you order with will be charged tax and the first months fee. Not positive but that's my consensus. So definitely needs to be an active card for sure.

not the first months fee's, just the tax and that's it...

I’ve pre ordered all my iPhones via the ATT website and have always received them release day. I’ve considered trying another method but do t want to jinx myself

Has anyone else with a premier account had any issues with trying to order on Apple? It always tell me to set a passcode even though I have one. When I call Att all they tell me is to order on their website.

Ever since I combined my billing it has been nothing but headaches.

Hey @dgravo, have you tried removing your AT&T Passcode? If you do this then on the Apple site you should get a SMS Txt message with a 6 digit code to enter while ordering.

You can test this by starting an order for an iPhone 8, entering your AT&T information and then you should get a one time 6 digit code via SMS Txt.

I have a Premier Account and it allows my Passcode when ordering from Apple so I am betting that your Combined Billing is what is causing the real issue with Apple ordering.

With combined billing (directv), you need to have them connect you with the special team for those accounts i lost my pin when i was combined and theres no way to do that online - I tried everything. I chatted and they connected me to that special team and set my PIN for me. I forgot how, but I was able to test it. Maybe try to buy an 8 on an phone not your own?

i did need to have the pin when I pre approved my daughters phone thru IUP on apple store. I don't think it asked me for it for mine.

Good Luck

When using the Apple Store app can I order two phones, one on my primary account number (my phone - which I believe is the option to "Replace this phone") and one for my wife using the option "buy this phone on another line"? Or do I have to order one on my phone and use the app on my wife's phone also? Both on Next plans.
I was able to pre-qualify my Apple IUP for two ATT phones, the other using the link for a different phone (my daughters). Both show up under my preapproved page. I assume you need to check out each separately if using IUP.

I do have an ATT PIN (after chatting with the special combined team to set it last week) and it was required for my daughters pre-qualification. I don't remember it asking for it for mine.

On the Apple site, I currently have AT&t Next and want to continue paying my phone using that program. Do I just select the "AT&T Installment Program" option? On the pre order and it has not asked me for my phone # or anything to see if eligible. Just wondering if it will do that once pre order officially opens?

Has anyone noticed that http://att.com/iphonex is a little buggy? Let's you click continue and stuff. Although a preorder cannot be placed as of yet of course. Just interesting

Did you use the website on a computer or the myAT&T app? Curious which one would be quicker

I'm going to pay in full and was planning on buying the T-Mobile version on Apple's site as you don't need to go through the AT&T verification. Was wondering if anyone has done this? I know the T-Mobile version should be able to work with AT&T but will I have to unlock the phone through T-Mobile or can I just pop in my current SIM?

Hi Dave...Thanks for the advice. I don’t even see an option under my profile to do anything with the passcode. It’s been a terrible experience with att. I have two lines that are upgradable but can’t order from the Apple app.

I’m currently on the AT&T NEXT with my iPhone 7. My upgrade options for the iPhone X are:

Option #1: pay $274.59 and trade in device to upgrade early
Option #2: pay off $424.39 to upgrade early and keep device
Option #3: buy device at full price

I want to keep the device and pass it down to one of my family members. That being said, I will probably go with option #2. If I pay it off now, how long does it take to reflect on Apple’s system? I will be upgrading via the Apple app on Friday morning.

I could also use another family member’s line to upgrade using the NEXT plan and swap SIMs. I would have another NEXT payment if I go with this option.

Which option do you suggest?

I usually just preorder through at&t's website. Last time I received the phone on release day. I was planning on doing the same this time. Not sure if I should use the at&t app or the Apple app and go through the carrier that way.

On AT&T's site, the price of the X starts at $33.40/mo but on the Apple Store app, the lowest is $41.63/mo. Why the difference?

Apple may be including Apple Care. Or it’s 24 months vs 30 months.
[doublepost=1508980474][/doublepost]Has anyone confirmed yet if AT&T’s BOGO offer will include $699 of the iPhone X’s price?

Apple has more than 1 type of plan. One is the iphone upgrade program which comes with Applecare and you can upgrade after 12 months. This is more like $49 and change per month.

The other Apple plan is a 24 month payment plan and you cannot upgrade after 12. That is $41.63 and you keep the phone 2 years or buy it out.

ATT does pay over 30 months and you can upgrade at 12 or 24, or pay over 24 months and upgrade at 12 or 24.

The 30 months is $33.30
The 24 month is $41.63

If you want to upgrade again in 2018 and select the lower monthly 30 months plan, you will just owe money in fall 2018 as you have to pay off 1/2 of the phone value to upgrade, and you will have only paid $399.60 instead of $499.56 on the higher monthly payment. So you will just owe that $100 next fall if you want to upgrade.

So I talked to an Att agent

If I order through the Apple app for ATT it gives me only 2 options:

41.93 24 month ATT next plan
OR
$999 up front

If I go through the AT&T App it gives me 3 options

33.93 30 month ATT next plan
OR
41.93 24 month ATT next plan
OR
$999 up front.

For that, ATT seems to be better as it gives you the 30 month option

Yeah, I noticed this too. I'll probably use the AT&T app.

Apple website will give you both options. It says AT&T Installment Programs. (See screenshot one)

You don't see it right now because you cannot go through the actual upgrade process on a phone that's not available yet. (See screenshot 2 in iPhone 8 example.)

Try this link: https://www.att.com/olam/passthroughAction.myworld?actionType=ViewProfile Enter your ID and password and then on the next page you are prompted to Enter your Passcode. Enter your Passcode and then check the box right under the Passcode field. The text next to the box: Turn off extra security (We'll no longer ask for your passcode when you log in or visit some stores.).

This will remove the Passcode. If you do this then on the Apple site / app you should get a SMS Txt message with a 6 digit code to enter while ordering an AT&T Device.

You can test this by starting an order for an iPhone 8, entering your AT&T information and then you should get a one time use 6 digit code via SMS Txt.

I have the AT&T Next program, have had my 7+ one year and will be trading it in. I have ordered through AT&T at preorder launch every year for the last 4 years with no glitches and consistent early delivery. I'm ordering on the AT&T app this time, iPhone X Silver 256gb. May be delivered late but if it gets here by Christmas I'll be happy.
