I set up 6 devices, some on WiFi and some on cellular, each dedicated to a separate website for pre order. Apple, AT&T, Best Buy, Target, Apple Store App, and Verizon. At 11:30, I began refreshing constantly in an effort to proceed with the first website with pre order availability. To my surprise, I was let into AT&T at 11:52 and had my order completed and submitted to them successfully at 11:53. Immediately got an email and then another one 5 hours later guaranteeing delivery by 11/3. Never received a text message. AT&T order status now listed as “Preparing to Ship”.
Looks like mine shipped

thats an ATT website order or Apple? ATT hasn’t shipped direct from China in years past.

I placed my order at 6:43 AM EST for a 64GB X in silver. I don't pay with auto pay and there was no option that I could at least see that would allow me to pay for the taxes with a credit card. My order has now went to preparing to ship with a delivery date of November 3. I'm assuming that either it is being added to my bill, but there really isn't any explanation of it.

I'm wondering how is the ordering to ship... because I ordered 2 hours before you and it's still "In progress". Space Gray - 64GB (4:00am East)

I'm just going to assume that silver is shipping out faster only because the demand wasn't as high as the space grey. It might just be taking them longer to update statuses, but if you ordered that early and you're status is still in progress that it has to be being prepared to ship and might just not show it yet.

I agree. And I think demand for 256gb is higher (and maybe supply lower). So 64gb shipping faster?

Not answering for him but probably an Apple Store order. I don't remember ATT ever shipping from outside the US. Usually next day air from some place in Texas or the like. Some people post their orders here thinking the ATT in the thread title refers to the phone type and not the store the phone was ordered from.

Anyone from Central time zone get preparing to ship? Seems a lot of people from Eastern time zones have gotten preparing to ship.
Houston here and preparing to ship since yesterday.

Your second email, the good to go one, it should say if your tax is being billed or whatever your method of payment is.

Order just flipped to preparing to ship. Ordered at 8:43am ET. 64GB silver
Good going getting one after 8am ET for launch day. ATT sure had stock for a lot longer than Apple. I wonder if it's because less people knew they can pre-order from ATT or if their stock was just huge.

I originally tried to order through Apple because I had a bad experience with ATT last year...got the phone in an Apple store like three or four weeks before it was scheduled to ship, which was a couple weeks after launch already when I got it. Well, was able to order my wife's through Apple, but I recently had to get an insurance replacement because I broke my screen (first iPhone I've destroyed since my 3G!) and Apple said there was an issue with my IMEI number and to call ATT. Well at some point ATT decided it would be great to not have a call center open so they wouldn't answer (until I called through the international assistance line). ATT claimed there wasn't a problem on their end, and sure enough when it finally let me in to the ATT store about 35 minutes after my original wait time had passed, I completed an order. Was on the fence on Silver or Space Grey but went with Silver 256 since it was still available for launch day. Still "In progress" but hopefully that will change soon. Original email from ATT was 12:55 AM Pacific.

I almost didn't order. My apple order is for the 2-3 week timeframe and i was just gonna wait it out. After dropping my son off to school, came home and seen ATT was still offering release day delivery and ordered one on another line. Thought i'll just keep the one that comes first, but looks like ATT was right

Hello
Does anyone know if ATT stores will have the X on launch date. If I line up the night before, do you think I can get one?

They always have them available for launch day. First come first serve with the limit of 1 phone per person in line. I have camped every iPhone launch since the 4. Last year for the 7+, there was only one store out of four in my area that got any of the Plus models.

Generally you can call or stop by the store the day before launch and social engineer one of the reps to giving you some info about stock (they are generally pretty vague about it though).

Also just to add - Apple had in store reservations available the day after the 7 launch last year. You could reserve it on the Apple website and just walk in for pickup. If I remember right, the reservations that don’t get picked up by midnight go back into inventory (not the paid for reservations).

Good luck!

Make room! Cause I'm on board!

I’m surprised that the taxes for NEXT could be added to the bill. This would be the first year I ever remember this being an option. When I ordered on Friday I saw the option but it said only for accessories, so I opted to just pay the tax and not risk screwing something up.

It has always been taxes due up front.

I ordered 256GB Space-Grey at 4:11am ET. Received first e-mail immediately, but didn't receive text and second e-mail until 3:46pm today (Saturday). The new e-mail said new ship date of 12/4-12/18, but the online status still says 11/2-11/10 and "In Progress".

I called AT&T and they said the online status is the true ship date, and that the e-mail confirmation defaults to whatever the ship date is at that time (i.e., current orders are 12/4-12/18). I'm not sure how much to believe that, but seems somewhat plausible.

Anyone else in a similar boat? 2nd e-mail says 12/4-12/18 but online still says 11/2-11/10?
