Can anybody please confirm if I but sim free from apple can I just pop in my SIM card from my current iphone?

Apple Store App was perfect, finally went up around 3:03. In and out in 2 min. 9/22 Delivery Date.
The Apple.com page still showed "We'll be Right Back."

I was also keeping my eye on this pain in the you know what "Jose" - seeing if this might mess deliveries up! IF it does skim the east coast, it shouldn't be too bad and it's around Tues, Maybe Wed. (Eh, always something)

Lord almighty it was an ordeal but I got 256gb Silver 8+ and Series 3 Watch ordered. Took about 1.5 hours in total because the site is completely jacked and AT&T's UI did not make it easy at all.

If I am buying full price, is there any difference between an "Unlocked iPhone with AT&T SIM" and the "Unlocked SIM free" versions? Is the unlocked with AT&T SIM truly unlocked?

Yes it just has the ATT sim in it..you can take it out and put a t-mobile sim in.
But if you're not using ATT don't get the ATT sim

In previous years I have ordered from the AT&T site, then drop off my phone at the AT&T store once I have received the new phone. This year I ordered from the apple store app.

Where I live (Hawaii) there is no apple store on the island I live on, so I'm assuming my only option is to mail the old phone to apple? Or could I drop off the old phone at the AT&T store? I'm assuming not? Any ideas?

I'm guessing you're doing the trade-in ?

If thats the case Apple will provide you with packaging to mail it to them.

I got in right when the Apple app came up at a little after 3am and was finished within a couple of minutes. Changed my mind last minute and got gold instead of silver. It should arrive on launch day. I hope getting the X for my husband is just as easy.

Same here. Did Pick up at Apple Store.

I'm pretty set on getting the X at this point. Was initially going to get an 8, but can't pull the trigger on it. A bit surprised that the sites still show delivery on the 22nd, but then again I guess that means many people are waiting for the X

I am on the next every year plan, and just bought the 8 plus, does anyone know how you receive the return label for the trade in? Email, Mail?

In previous years it comes in the box with your new phone, so you can literally just slap the label on the box you got your new phone in, and just drop it off at the post office

Yep.. the X pre-order night won't go this smoothly. The order sites will be getting killed and many of us who order at 3:02am won't get 11/3 shipping dates.. :(.. it'll be just like JetBlack 7+ last year.

I've checked out TMobile, Verizon preorder threads here this morning. And none of them are over 200 posts yet. NObody's really interested in 8/8+.

Last year the pre order threads would post 200 posts PER HOUR starting at 3am.

Yeah, I just took a look at the Apple site, still says delivery for the 22nd -- in contrast to what the recent front page article says (1--2 week delays).

Very fair observation :( Apple better ramp up production of the X big time before the preordering goes live!

I hear a lot of you talking about how the iPhone X will simply be too expensive compared to the iPhone 8/8+… But aren't most of you on the monthly payment plan for your phone? Or do most of you buy the phone outright so that it's unlocked? To me the payment I'm playing now for my 7+ will only go up a few dollars a month with AT&T NEXT to get an X when it comes out and I turn in my 7+. So if my payment goes from $32 a month to $41 a month… It's just a no-brainer for me to get the X.

I have a 6s on AT&T Next; I talked with someone from AT&T, and it actually works out to be $4 less per month to go with the X (not quite sure how that works out, but that's what they told me; I've got ~$100 left on paying off my 6s). It's $10/mo less with the 8. So for my (estimated?) experience, the X won't change my month-to-month finances.

Hmm.. that doesn't seem logical.. you should pay more per month after trading in a phone after a year. The X is so much more expensive. I mean I hope you're right - but I'm skeptical about what that rep told you. Many of the reps are woefully undereducated about the new products.

Interesting thing to note. I think overall Apple will ship a lot of iPhones overall this fall but you are right the X will take a huge burden off of Apple compared to normal years.

I actually was undecided about ordering the 8 when i went to bed last night so i didn't even bother setting up an alarm to wake up at 3am. I woke up a little after 4am just naturally and was like "I guess i'll see if i can order one". In the darkness of my bed I picked up my trusty old iPhone 6 and I got in right when the Apple app and was finished pretty fast. The longest part was when i was sitting on the phone color screen and it took me 2 mins to choose between solver and gray(I got the gray 256GB). According to the website it should arrive on launch day.

I really debated on the X but the size was ultimately too big for me. I cannot stand large wallets or large phones in my pockets and the X was too large to justify. Even my 6 will be a little bit smaller than the 8 but it's very slight. Honestly though if my 6 was in better condition I'd probably hold out another year. I really want a iPhone SE with OLED and updated specs.
