Yes you can make payments online. It's a 0% interest loan so you may as well keep your money until you are ready for a new phone.
I asked about this too last year with the 7+. The rep said I could only put a down payment in the beginning and I couldn’t make extra payments monthly towards the phone unless I pay it off completely in one payment or upgrade. Damn, these reps really don’t know what they’re talking about.
 
Hey guys, thought I should make an account just to post that there is hope!

I placed an order for a SG 256GB iPhone X at 12:30am PST on 10/27 and it got cancelled by ATT for no reason. I had an original shipping window of 11/2 - 11/10. After 6 total hours in phone calls, I was able to get my order reprocessed by an ATT rep on Sunday 10/29 and she was able to override the system to have my original shipping dates of 11/2 - 11/10.

I just checked my order status online and it got updated to preparing to ship! I will update you guys if it changes to shipped!
Might want to blur out your phone number. :confused:

My order just changed to "Preparing to Ship" for Space Grey 256g with 11/2-11/10 dates. Ordered at 3:57 am ET, in Tennessee. And when I dial *6737# it tells me my order is in backorder.

Anyone els getting this error when checking their order? I've been at preparing for shipment for days, they could be updating the status to shipped or just pushing my Nov 3rd delivery to December :p

My 64 sg ordered at 5:49 am went to preparing to ship overnight. Text update shows Backordered, no change in dates but certain I will receive on Friday.

The rep is right-you can only pay in full, or enough to be upgrade eligible if you didn’t put the money down in the first place. I’ve never been able to make extra payments towards my next purchases.

I ordered a silver 256gb at 7:38AM ET. Original shipping window 11/2-11/10, and it's still in progress. It's getting closer, hopefully I'm at the top of the queue now.

Same here. Very frustrating. I remember the same thing from last year and I received my phone on time. I’m ATT Premier so not sure how this is all managed but one has to assume it’s multiple systems and protocols so I guess we wait.

Queue.... feels more like a lottery at the moment. If there’s some method to filling orders taken 5 hours later than others, it can only have to do with inventory allocated across multiple systems.

I have tried to keep up with this thread but I might have missed some info, so sorry if restating things already discussed. I ordered early Friday morning, got my 1st email but no 2nd one, so I called and to make a very long story short... After about 6 hour long calls and chats I was told I had to go to my local store to confirm my Id. I've been with ATT for at least 20 yrs and have 6 lines on my account and a lock code. Credit card on file that is charged auto every month, so you would think they had already confirmed my id. Over night Sunday the charge was removed from my credit card, (kiss of doom)! The local in store sales rep called and the first several people he talked to said my order was good to go, he kept asking to be transferred to different depts to find out why if it was good to go I keep getting these there's a problem with ur order, call us notices. Finally the last person he talked to said that since they couldn't prove my id when I ordered I couldn't get that order and would have to start over. He asked the store manager if there was anything else she could do and it was a flat NO. I asked her if I cancelled my order would she hold one for me on Friday and I would be there before they opened. NO again and she said that all ATT stores were told Monday that they will not be getting any iPhone x in for walk in clients on Friday. So if you ordered Friday and are still processing and the charge has fallen off your card I think you are in the same boat as me and will not be getting your order! ATT really sucks this go round. If the very first person I talked to had just dug hard enough to find the real problem my order could have been fixed and maybe I would get my phone.
 
I’ve got 1 order placed at 3:20 est that’s still pending. Premier account. The charge is still “pending” on my CC so it’s not been shipped. The other 4 orders were later in the am so I’m not surprised with those. We’ll see what happens with the early one.

Just dialed the 6737 and it said my order is on backorder -- but online it says preparing to ship. wtf.

Most with expected launch day delivery will probably switch to shipped either tonight (unlikely) or tomorrow with overnight shipping.

The rep is right-you can only pay in full, or enough to be upgrade eligible if you didn’t put the money down in the first place. I’ve never been able to make extra payments towards my next purchases.

Rep is 100% incorrect. You can make payments towards your next plan at any point by going to manage installment plan under your online account
 
Anybody with Premier orders seen any progress towards shipping aka "Preparing to ship" status with 256GB Silver or Space Gray?

Still at "Processing" one one order and "In Progress" on another. Both orders around 3:08AM EST.
 
I think all phones not in the states yet are technically "backordered" since the US distributor doesn't have them "in stock" yet from China. I think it's a system fart.
 
Ugh! People, read before post all time the same thing >.<

AT&T uses Fedex Overnight Ship (1 Day) and for USPS (Priority Mail Express 2Day). So... you will receive an email from AT&T tomorrow (Thursday) with your tracking number if you are one of Nov 3 date delivery.

The only person in this thread can be worry it's me, because I live in Puerto Rico and due to Hurricane Maria, USPS are running with two weeks of delay...

So how many of you are going to be working from home Friday to be there for the Fedex guy... I believe they will all want a signature release. I got my case from Amazon and am ready to go.
 
Just wanted to post this incase anyone had the same issue as me;
I placed my order 5:26 AM EST on AT&T's website, immediately got a Nov. 3rd delivery date. My order is currently in "preparing to ship". The issue with mine was that the website did not allow me to select the NEXT installment plan I wanted which was the 24 month option. I spoke to a rep today and she said that we are allowed to make changes to the installment plan within 14 days of receipt of delivery. So, if anyone else wants to change their installment agreement just go back to AT&T when you receive your phone to update it. :)

P.S. Apple screwed me over this year as I was on the IUP plan and realized I'm competing with EVERYONE around the world on Apple's website and that is why I got a horrible delivery estimate. I plan on selling my iP7+ and cancelling my current IUP plan with them and cancelling my other order with Apple. Hopefully for the next upgrade the process is this smooth with AT&T as well lol!

I’ve haven’t had an issue with this for years. I always tape a note to the door just in case. Not sure if that’s helped.
