Well, received my phone this morning. Here's its journey:
Ordered a 16GB gold (non +) on the afternoon of 9/24, so I really lucked out and only had to wait about 7 days. Processed on 9/26, languished for 4 days in ZhengZhou. Got original delivery estimate of 10/2, got pushed to 10/3, then to 10/6, then back to 10/2. When it shipped from Incheon to Hong Kong I got annoyed because a lot of people had flights straight from Incheon to Anchorage and that's when my date changed to 10/6. When it changed back to 10/2 I was skeptical, but once it hit Alaska it moved super fast over to the east coast.
As you can see from my tracking, my local delivery guy was very impatient and left a note on the door. I live on the 3rd floor dude, give me more than 10 seconds to sprint down 3 flights of stairs! Luckily I chased him down before he could drive away.
I love UPS though. Very happy with them. HATE FedEx. And AT&T. FedEx claimed they delivered the iPhone I originally ordered through AT&T on 9/19. (they didn't, I was home all day and constantly going outside and checking) So yeah, NEVER ordering through AT&T again because they use FedEx and they have **** customer service and they won't give you the option of requiring a signature for your phone if you live on a busy street. All they have to do is leave it at your door and their hands are clean of it. Which just makes it your word vs. FedEx's if they claim to deliver it but you don't actually receive it. It took me from 9/19 to 9/24 just to get someone from AT&T customer service to actually reverse my upgrade eligibility. They said they would refund my $$$ too, but turns out that was a lie. I have to dispute the charges through my bank.
BTW, AT&T did put through a second order to replace the phone originally (without my permission, didn't want to do that because there would be no safeguard to prevent my phone getting non-delivered again). I believe they placed it on 9/23, and my ship estimate for that was from 10/1-10/13. Ship estimate, not receive-by estimate. So I'm really really glad I ordered my replacement through Apple. Thank you Apple and UPS!!!!
