An ATT rep told me that I could not have the family unlimited text with a plan of 550 min. Is that not true?

Im still being throttled by att, got about 6 gigs and my internet is slow. I can barely play Apple Music without waiting a few minutes for songs to play. Either that or 9.1 has some problems with how its handling network management

Ive only had 2-3 bars since I updated

I just did it online. Took about 90 seconds. You can even backdate the switch to the start of your current cycle.

Thanks for the info. I just tried and when I selected the 550 it said my discount would only apply to my primary line. Currently my discount applies to both my lines and I get $10 off on my message plan. Going through the wizard it said I would loose any discounts when I got to message options. No biggie, only paying $148 after 15% FAN. Would I like to save another $15, sure but not by taking the chance of having my plan messed up. Plus my talk shows unlimited now.

Call them and have them drop it by $10. I did yesterday with no problems.

Will do. Everything else is pretty much standard. 9.99 p/ line, 30.00 for unlimited (2), the unlimited messaging at 30.00, and two individual data plans. Still somewhere in the 250~

I talked to two CSR and the problem is AT&T is not telling them what is going on with the Unlimited Family Talk plans. I had to explain to them what was going on and read them the automated text that is being sent out. For now I'm happy with my plan. I don't want to take the chance of an unknowledgeable CSR screwing it up and loosing all my discounts.

Can you share the url that the 550 plans has when you hover over "Select Plan", when I go to change my plan it says I have an unlimited plan for $60 a month and it gives me these options, I don't have a 550 option.

The 550 Minute Familytalk plan is only available in select markets and as the other poster indicated it is limited to 3 lines.

Can you explain this? I havent received any automated text

It's already in the topic. Some users are receiving text messages from AT&T letting them know that unlimited was added to their account at no extra charge. Some of us did not receive a text message but are still showing unlimited in our plan.

No, I mean from 700 to 550...not where they're adding unlimited minutes. I've seen where we now have unlimited minutes but are still technically on the 700 plan. In the past if you wanted to change plans, that required signing a new 2 year agreement.

Changing plans never required a new 2 year contract, only when you bought a subsidized phone.

In my portal the lowest I can select is the 700 plan. You have to have 3 lines max for the 550

Strange. I also have a 15% FAN. Was the issue that your primary line wasn't selected at the top of the screen when you tried to make the change?

My current plan without discounts after recent changes is:
Family Talk Nation 550 with rollover (noting unlimited anytime minutes): $50
Second line talk charge: $9.99
Unlimited LTE data: $30 X 2 lines = $60
Family unlimited messaging: $20

Total before discounts and taxes: $139.99

My FAN gives me 15% off everything above except messaging so total with discounts before taxes: $122.00

This is only $7 more than I'd pay for the 15GB mobile share plan ($85 with discount + $15 X 2 line access) that I almost switched to before all the news yesterday. Seems 100% worth it for an extra 29GB of data each month.

Dancefreak, will it show me all this if I continue the process? I take it there final submit action at the end.

To be honest I can't remember, I wouldn't want to suggest you do something that might break your plan, but in theory it should work fine. I only got the message about losing my accumulated rollover minutes by downgrading...which doesn't matter since minutes don't matter with unlimited talk.

Wait till the next billing period. Everything takes some time.

I almost did til I saw this post lol

I'm glad I stuck it out with VZW. I read up on the agreement with the FCC. Even though we were close to losing unlimited/unthrottled data, it's nice to know the FCC finally stood up for consumers. I average 50GB a month and never throttled.

Out of curiosity what is it that you do all day to reach 50GB? I use 10 on average and I thought I used my phone more than the average user..

All of a sudden AT&T is becoming generous with their longtime customers on unlimited data and older family plans....
I wonder what pushed them in that direction.
The FCC $100 Mill Lawsuit or T Mobile's competition?

I think they looked in the rear mirrors and saw T-mo girl on a bike there. They reacted late, but not very late. Ralph de la Vega to be honest did nothing. ...Or may be lost 4 B$.
Att has a huge customers leak now. They need to prevent future porting to t-mo, they don't want to loose their customer base, people who joined them from Cingular era or with the 1st iPhone.

Also I cannot call J.L.'s behavior towards Att and VZW innocent. If I were Att or VZW I make his life really misirable. Just imaging somebody calls you #%#%# almost every day. If Att lowers its rates with promo for couple months T-mo little ship is going to sink.

I expect a very interesting battle here and we as customers are going to be winners. I expect couple more steps from att and may be from vzw. I hope I'm right here.

Very well said.
Competition is great for consumers.
Glad the government didn't let AT&T buy out T Mobile.
Then verizon would have bought Sprint and we'd be stuck with only 2 major carriers that are very greedy and compete to make up new policies and plans that will line up their pockets and nickel and dime us all.

Well, first, I'm jailbroken so I have My3G installed so apps think they're on wifi so I can bypass restrictions. I stream lots of radio to/from work every day (60 mile round trip). But most of it comes from streaming movies. I watch at least 1-2 movies a night when I go to bed.
