Do you honestly think “Apple is not realizing what is going on with their own product”? It sounds like you’re the one trolling, and it is assuredly funny. If “4gb of RAM is totally a joke” then why is it that iPhones blow away Android phones with 8GB?

lol Mac Pro 2013 is a great example that they didn't realize what happened with their own product.

And like I said, performance isn't related to this topic and yet you are keep mentioning this. iPhone has better performance but that doesn't mean it has better multi-tasking. I kept telling you that iPhone series have refreshing issues because of less amount of RAM. Read before you comment.

“iPhone series have refreshing issues because of less amount of RAM”

I keep reading that but it just doesn’t make sense. I mean, I’m entertained, but you still haven’t explained what this refreshing issue is that “has nothing to do with performance”. Are you talking about the background refresh software bug that iOS 13.2.2 fixed?

It's not a bug. Clearly, you know nothing about this.

It's quite simple. If you have a desktop, do you prefer to have 4gb of RAM of 12gb of RAM? RAM gives more free space to prevent app refreshing. Galaxy Fold can Put 6~7 apps at once without any app refreshing unlike iPhone because it has 12gb of RAM.

at 8:55, that's what I've been talking about.

What problem are you having on your iPhone that more RAM will solve? Switching rapidly between several different apps for a contrived video? Come on, get real.

You’re seriously citing the Galaxy Fold as an example of a good Android phone? 😂 Oh man, that is some good trolling.

Unlikely. It’ll probably resemble the single camera setup from the iPhone XR.

As someone who owns a MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad, having all your Apple devices on the same charging/connectivity interface would be a huge advantage to being in the ecosystem. Their computers and iPads have already started transitioning over.

Mass market iPads, Airpods, etc have been released with lightning over the past couple of months. I don't see lightning going away for several years

Is there a technical benefit to doing so? Is there some functionality they cannot provide with lightning but can with USB-C?
Eh, not really. Higher fast charging maybe like Samsung has, but that still shouldn't require end-to-end USB-C. People want it tho because for the last couple years (and certainly by late 2020) the industry has been switching to type C across the board. The Switch uses it, all Android phones now, headphones, all Macs, iPad Pro, digital cameras, and many more. It would be nice to just only need one type of cable for everything, or almost everything, that I use. Especially when traveling.

The upgraded RAM would be nice, but maybe .... just maybe we will finally get an iPhone with USB-C🤞
I feel with you. Maybe we will get a MacPro - D‘OH, maybe next year, maybe next year, maybe next year ...
And then - new MacPro!! 256GB, no M2, no OpenGL , Slow CPU for $5999 - D‘OH

Making the iPhone 11 Pro Max the iPhone 6 of this generation considering the ram management issues with it.

The iPhone 6 became sorta useless in 2017. Since everyone is getting the Pro Max to show off anyway, they won't be with their original users when it inevitably becomes unusable. So it doesn't matter too much, since these 2nd-3rd owners will sorta not expect top-notch performance anyway.

I know this is wishful thinking, but I hope the “iPhone SE2” has a dual lens camera set up.

I would be happy even if they have single lens but uses the same lens as iPhone 11.

$1099 - iPhone 11 Pro Max
$999 - iPhone 11 Pro

$699 - iPhone 11
$599 - iPhone XR

$549 - iPhone 9 / SE2 ( basically replacing the iPhone 8 Plus )
$449 - iPhone 8

I like this comment, it’s reasonable and chill. I would also like to see iPhone go USB-C, but I’m in no rush. I’ve been onboard Lightning to USB-C cables since iPhone 8, the fast charging via USB-C PD is just awesome. On the other hand, I’d have to pick up a USB-C to USB-A cable for my car to play music from my iPhone, and maybe a second short+light USB-C to USB-C cable to have handy, so again, I’m in no hurry, I’m good on cables for the moment.

Basically all Android phones now use USB-C. So this would mean that any and every charger could be used for any phone, including iPhones. Super beneficial and convenient for everyone. Adding onto this, USB-C headphones, mics, and other accessories can't work with the iPhone. If the iPhone supported USB-C, then, in theory, all accessories could work across iPhones and non-iPhones (Apple would have to allow support for this of course).

Second, the Lightning port still only allows transfers at USB-2 speeds. I believe there is an adapter that will let you transfer with USB 3 speeds. But you shouldn't need an adapter for that. USB is an industry standard that is constantly being updated and it's beneficial to everyone to use it. Lightning is proprietary and benefits only one person: Apple. It doesn't benefit us.

I hope this is the year they finally switch to USB-C.

Silly as it sounds, that's kinda the main feature I am hoping for. I really hope they don't so something incredibly lame like only have USB-C on the "Pro" cameras. I'm still of the opinion that the time to do this was the iPhone 7. The laptops they released right after that were all USB-C. If you were gonna kill the headphone jack, cool. USB-C all the way. Now we're gonna have a mountain of Lighting accessories that... require either yet-another-adapter to use.

I really think the way this is supposedly being rolled out—and better late than never—is really botched. Really botched.

Is there a technical benefit to doing so? Is there some functionality they cannot provide with lightning but can with USB-C?

It's more about convenience at this stage but:

1. Industry standard connector > proprietary connector. One of the best things about Apple dropping MagSafe in favor of USB-C charging on their laptops is that I can use plenty of non-Apple chargers and dock accessories. I don't have to buy Apple's crappy, yellowing, fraying charge cables anymore. I can keep one charging cable for all devices.

2. Personally, I can't stand Lightning. USB-C keeping the pins inside a metal sleeve is better—in my opinion anyway—than the exposed pins on Lightning cables. I have had no end of issues with corrosion and failed cables. I can think of no other cable I have ever used that I have to replace as habitually as Lightning. Thus far, I have had no such issues with USB-C and as someone who snagged a MBP in 2016, I've been rolling with these cables for three years now.

USB-C will evolve over time with the whole industry. Unless it gets stagnant, Apple can and will stick with it. It's just better in terms of options. Historically, Apple has embraced more proprietary standards as necessary. For instance FireWire over USB for the original iPod because USB 1 was just too slow. And now that USB-4 and Thunderbolt are becoming the same monster, this means we'll likely see a proliferation of Thunderbolt (USB-4) options. Given that the protocol as of now can drive a 5K monitor, it's pretty well future proof and is way more interesting than Lightning (and its crappy pins).[/QUOTE]
