Re: 2. Live video

Why not do this? Just because it's "radio" doesn't mean it has to apply the rules of 1942.

I think live video will add a futuristic feel and I rather see that than artwork from the last played.

BTW anyone know what song was playing during the first hour with the female rapper?!!
Lack of song history is irritating!!!
It's a heck of a lot more bandwidth they'd have to cover to add a studio cam. I really don't think there's much point to it.

I'm loving it. Only just tuned in 20 mins ago and Julie is on. There's hardly any talking - not sure what the fuss is about. I love a bit of banter. I can imagine the urban London scene isn't going to appeal to a lot of American listeners though.

No I wasn't, I was just going off the posted playlist. Maybe pop isn't the right genre. But to me, it's all garbage. I guess I should've expected it, and I think my gripes are more with the music industry that produces that crap than the radio stations that play it.

Oh. So all that music you didn't listen to, and likely haven't heard a lot of, is garbage. OK.

I keep forgetting I'm the only one with an iPhone on wifi only. DATA, That might be the reason.

More like "let's protect ourselves from the FCC, Apple haters and the State Department.

FCC has no jurisdiction over this. It's not broadcast over the airwaves. They could play George Carlin's 7 dirty words on a constant loop and the FCC can't do a thing. Not even sure where the State Department comes into play.

You can't "heart"/"star" songs that are playing on this Beats 1 channel to save them like Spotify? The icon is there but it doesn't do anything. Unless I am missing a short cut or doing it wrong.

Edit:

I tried to search the song though music and it wasn't there so it would make sense that you can't favorite a song that isn't in the store.
I just tried it on the current song playing and popped up with a message that said 'Your First Love' and said it would make recommendations based on this selection.

Here's a list someone put together from the start. Not sure if it has who you're looking for though...

Spring City — King
Beck — Dreams
Jamie xx — Gosh
Skepta — Shutdown
ACDC — For Those About to Rock
Hudson Mohawke — Warriors
Pharrell Williams — Freedom
Courtney Barnett — Dead Fox
The Chemical Brothers — Under Neon Lights
Shamir — On the Regular
Bully — Trying

OR

Go here https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...eats-1-and-revamped-music-app.1896157/page-33. That's where I found the list but if you go forward or back some pages you might find a more complete list.

THANKS! It was Shamir. I added the song to my music(after a confusing iCloud confirmation), saved it for later and went back to listening to Beats one.

Shame we have to compile the list ourselves. What a headache.

Glad you found it. Quite a good song actually! And yes, it's annoying but hopefully this is added soon.

They could have started off with two of the songs titled "Internet Killed the Video Star"

Broadband,

Limousines,

Yes, they could have played The Best of Lenny Bruce and they would have not felt with any decency fines.

I am talking wider FCC administration beyond terstrial broadcast regulations. Streaming on the Internet does cover FCC and State Department jurisdiction as it is distributed interntionally.

There is a very good backstory over those fighting Internet censorship from it's inception. Even IBM in the 70's tried to regulate it.

I was worried about this station that it would be awful mainstream pop. Instead, it's good pop. I've listened all day and I'm very pleased. I haven't heard any Pitbul, Rihanna, or Maroon 5. If you don't like pop/electronic/hiphip, you won't like this. IMO, People that eschew an entire genre outright are ignorant. Rock has embarrassing acts like Breaking Benjamin, Disturbed, and Seether, but I don't hold it against the entire genre.

I'm really enjoying Beats 1 tbh, I was quite sceptical to begin with, but the whole idea of it is quite exciting. The fact we've gone to having a new Music app now with almost the entire iTunes library on it and even our own Apple radio station, it just seems like a massive step in the right direction for a company who has music in its DNA.

He's actually a guy......

Overall I think the app is a solid effort for a day one , 100 country launch new app. People need to remember Spotify carefully controlled it's roll out over years to various countries.

There are clear improvements that do need to be made to really gold plate the service.

Coming from Spotify the loss of social integration is a big blow. Yes Connect is cool but I can no longer follow friends playlists, make collaborative playlists, or see what my friend is listening to right now. Hopefully this will be obvious to the Apple Devs and the Connect element will grow over these coming months. (We already have Facebook/Twitter integration at OS level)

Inability to GO TO ARTIST or GO TO ALBUM when a song from an album stored in your music library is playing.

Inability to create a playlist from an album

Just a few gripes, I am loving beats1 though, fantastic launch! We are connected!

When did I say I never listened to those songs? I've heard most of them. Just not on Beats 1. I don't like them and if this is all the music B1 plays, I won't be listening.

Absolutely. It's very much like a midway point between Radio 1 and 6music on the BBC. Eclectic, fresh, not too experimental.
