Best Buy pick-up appointments

the best buy i pre-ordered fom has been confusing me like no other. first, i called yesterday and they told me they would call either today or tomorrow (yesterday or today). i wait all day yesterday and no call. so this morning i call again. then the person who answers today tells me they are not going to be calling until they get the shipment which would be tomorrow or thursday before opening. she told me they would not be getting shipment today so wait for a call tomorrow or thursday before opening. and she also said if all failed they were likely to get more than 3 phones and considering my brother and i were numbers 2 and 3 on the list, she told us to just come in when the store opened.
and then just now i get a call from my brother telling me that best buy called him and set an apt for the 2 of us to pick up our iphones thursday at 10am. maybe they just got annoyed at me? either way. i'm holding on to my apple reservation until i have the phone in my hand. if best buy screws me over then at i'll head over to apple around noon and stand in what i know is going to be an insane line.

I hope this is true for my store too... hahaha. They called me to set up an appointment, but I am still holding out for the white one. I was numero uno on the list too. Oh well. At least I get the first white 32gb they receive!
No, I don't think they will. If you ordered a white, they will give you the option to switch though.
I stopped in today to check on my iPhone and they actually opened the cabinet and I saw the box! It had my name on it (along with 5 others) and I'm good to go on Thursday! The only question they weren't sure of is whether I could make my appointment earlier than 10am. They *think* they'll be able to ring me up as early as 7am, but I have to wait until tomorrow to find out for sure because the right person to ask was off today.

Just talked to my BestBuy where I'm number 2 on the pre-order list. They said someone will be calling beginning at 10am tomorrow morning to set up appointments. She said they open at 10am Thursday and said she's not sure if they'll be opening earlier for iPhone pick ups/activations. The lady I spoke with who told me I was #2 is the head of their mobile dept and said she wanted to start appts at 8am, so hopefully I can get an 8am appt!
Select stores only. My store will not be since they didn't receive enough iPhones. In this case, it will depend on your store and the stock they receive... and ultimately up to the manager if they open early or not. Doesn't hurt to call and ask, they should be able to give you some kind of idea when they open.

Had to call back after being told they would call me, but I finally got confirmation that I have my name on a phone and its sitting at Best Buy waiting to be picked up at 12:30. He advised not coming any earlier as they will be helping other customers with their pre-orders. Glad to have that out of the way finally.

For those who have appointments, did they set your appointment time or did you get to set your own? I have to work all day so I would like to pick mine up at 6:00, I was the first at my store to pre-order so I better get one, unfortunately they don't open until 10 as far as i know.
I was first to pre-order mine at the Best Buy in Palm Desert, Ca. Just called and they still haven't received any iphones as of yet. No appointment set as of yet either. Starting to get worried... Luckily I have a pre-order appointment at the Apple Store in Temecula, Ca.
