I was around the 30's on the pre-order list and had ordered at 9 PM on the 16th.

I took the earliest appointment time available. I am not risking anything.
Sadly, I've got college orientation and will be about 15 minutes late but I think I'll make it.

Finally just got a call from my Denton, TX Best Buy to set up an appointment. The guy said that they weren't sure they were going to have the 32 GB models at all in time for launch, which is why they had been scheduling the 16 GB appointments first. Oh well, I'm glad mine came in and I set my appt. for 7:30, bright and early!
 
Called today! 11:30 pick-up time set for 16 gig. This is plan B.

Plan A will start in 6 hours when I head to the Mall of America Apple store in hopes of scoring a 32 gig.

Either way it looks like I will have an iPhone 4 tomorrow. For that, I am grateful.

got called today around 3 hrs ago im good to go at 8:30 am tomorrow for a 32gig black i was #3 or #5 and this is at the Nampa, Idaho bestbuy 1078
anyone wanna buy my iphone 3gs 16 gig unlocked now?;)
 
Wonder why some stores have earlier pickup times? :confused: I am guessing they have a much LARGER pre-order list?
 
So after reading all of the bad experiences with Best Buy I decided to call them myself at around 3:00 PST.

Once I got a hold of the mobile department I was told that unfortunately due to high demand they didn't have enough iPhones to go around and that if I hadn't already been called I wouldn't be getting on in this batch. Oh well I thought I'll just wait it out

However about 10 minutes ago I got a call my my local best buy asking me to come in for an appointment to pickup the new iPhone. I was slightly confused and asked them if they were sure there was an iPhone waiting for me. They assured me there was and I made an appointment at 1pm

I'm assuming, as many have said, that no employee knows exactly what to do or say to any one customer at best buy. I figured I won't really know if I'm getting the iPhone until I actually have it IN my hands tomorrow.

Just wanted to encourage the few left that havent made appointments.
 
stopped by my Best Buy at Waterford lakes shopping center in Orlando, FL. They told me that they only got about 12 phones. I'm out of luck for launch at BestBuy (i'm #26) so i'll use it as a backup if i can't get one at the apple store tomorrow.
 
Got good news from BB today...I never received a call, but I stopped by and they informed be that I was number 29 in line, and they received around 70 iPhones (store 327). Set up an appointment in the morning, good to go. Ended up being a very no-stress ordeal from order to launch day. We'll see how long it takes in the store tomorrow.

well they just called me back awhile ago and offered to put the zagg invishibleshield already so that when i pick it up its all ready to go. and any other accessories i might have wanted! really nice and pretty cool.
 
Stopped buy to chat with some buds that work there (and check up on the status) and they were bringing out cases and screen protectors. I picked up a blue ifrogz case just like the one I have for my 3gs and a pack of anti glare screen protectors. Got home and called them and they have me scheduled for 7:30 tomorrow morning.
 
Many Best Buy's with very minimal supplies

Just got off the phone with my local Best Buy where I pre-ordered. I was the second preorder for the store. The first preorder was for 3 32gb phones, I was the second with 2 32gb phones. Apparently, my store only received 2 32gb black phones and 15 16gb black phones. Therefore, I won't receive a phone tomorrow. I was also told by the store employee that all the Minnesota Twin City Best Buy's have only received similar small stocks. It truly is hit and miss depending on the city you are in whether you will receive a phone tomorrow. I am amazed at how poor Apple has supplied the retailers. The store where I purchased mine took over 50 more pre-orders after me. It likely may be a very long time before the later orders receive the 32gb phones. Based on this info, I expect many retailers to announce even longer delays before people can walk in off the street and purchase a new iphone.
 
Got a call from my Best Buy earlier. They ONLY got white apparently. They said if I wanted black I'd have to wait. I'll be getting a black at the Apple Store and ebaying the white.
 
I called my local Best Buy earlier today and was told that they only received shipments of the Black 16GB iPhone 4. I had preordered the Black 32GB version, which they didn't get at all. Here is to hoping the 32GB shipment was just delayed by a day or two. Surprising that they wouldn't have ANY for launch as I live in a heavily populated suburb of Philadelphia.

Got my call at 1 P.M. Mountain Time. Set up an appointment for 12:30, since I work until noon that day....

32GB Black iPhone 4, just in case anyone was wondering. Can't wait.
 
I don't get how the phones were decided to be distroed to the BBs...I've read some BBs getting 50+ and mine called me yesterday saying they got like 4 phones in and I'm next in line for a 32 and a 16...I didn't ask what the breakdown was though. Seems like BB screwed the pooch on this one. I live outside of Balitmore MD so I would think my local store would get more.

My wife woke me up early when she was getting ready for work...so I went to the Columbia MD Apple store just for S&Gs, yeah, 300+ line for walk-ins as of like 6 am. LMAO.
 
just got back!!!!! phone is amazing!!

me and the guys were laughing cuz there was a huge line of people outside in the apple store( mobile store inside same mall as apple).

And people were walking in asking if they had anything left and saw me with one and were like omg!!
 
For anyone under Eastern Standard Time, what is it like picking up your iPhone at Best Buy? Is there a crowd camping outside the store?

The crowds waiting outside the Apple Stores is just insane. I heard 300 people at the Cerritos Mall around 10p last night. The Apple Store in South Coast Plaza was another option, and there is already hundreds of people lined up for it. Thank goodness I pre-ordered. If the BB I'm headed to in 4 hours has people lined up around the building, I may just have to keep my iPhone 4 box hidden and walk out with a security guard.

The craziest and biggest launch in Apple history.
