Best Buy pick-up appointments

They just called me.

Set up appointment for 11:30AM.

I remember them telling me that I was #15 the day I preordered. Today, they told me they only got 6 phones in. I made sure that I was guaranteed a phone.

I'm guessing the preorder line was mostly 16gigs - I ordered 32gig.

I was number 49 in a NY store, initially I pre-ordered a 32G but I went today and the rep told me that it wasn't looking good at all for the 32G. I switched my pre-order to a 16G and now I can go and pick it up tomorrow!
 
Best Buy called me not too long ago about my appointment! I was number 28 (out of how many IDK) but apparently, the earliest appointment slot was still available (at 7:30 AM) but I chose 8:30 :) I'm SO happy I don't have to wait in line now! :D
 
I got a call around noon from the 75 and Park Lane store in Dallas to set up my appointment for tomorrow. The store is opening at 6am and I've got the 7am slot. I was #22 and ordered a 32GB black iPhone. The manager told me they only got about half of what they ordered and confirmed that they received 60 16GB black iPhones. She was in a hurry and I didn't get a chance to ask her how many 32GB black she got in. She also told me that they will only be selling iPhones to those who preordered. She wasn't sure of the exact number but believed that around 130 people had preordered at her location.
 
Best Buy just called to tell me that they will not have an iPhone for me tomorrow, and that I have to wait until mid July. He said they only received 10. I was the 4th preorder they took on the 15th. When I asked him why I couldn't get mine since they got 10 and I was number 4, he said it was because I ordered a 32 GB, and they didn't get any of them. So, instead of giving me the option of dropping down to a 16 GB, they just screw me and say wait a month. Ugh. Looks like I might be trying the Apple store in the morning.

Well, in all fairness the supply is not enough to meet demand, so I don't think they'd be able to offer to downgrade you to a 16GB phone. That would be for someone else. Then the same thing happens to them.
 
Got my call an hour ago. Looks like im screwed. They said there arent enough and I am pretty far down the list even though I placed my order at lunch on the 15th. He said I might fit into the next shipment whenever that comes. Wouldn't tell me anything really. Looks like I am stuck with a $50 gift card for their overpriced electronics. Weak sauce.

I understand. Someone's gotta get screwed, either the guy who gets there earlier or the guy who ordered what actually came in. My question is why did they only know this just this afternoon?
 
Just got a call, the store closest to me with the iPhone is only getting 2 of the 32GB models. Unfortunately I am #6 on the list. I couldn't help but laugh when the guy told me two. He said they don't understand it either and that it was pretty ridiculous even in their eyes.

Anyways, I have a $35 gift card and $165 in Rewards Zone points from Best Buy, so I'm more than glad to wait to save $200.

Wow, 2, that's nuts.
 
Okay, they just called me a couple of minutes ago. I'm a happy camper now. I'm going in at 10:30 AM. The phone's under my father's name, but they just told me all I'd have to know is his social and I'm good. I don't know how true that is.
 
wahoo... we got a call and mine is at the Best Buy Mobile store. My sister ordered them and forgot I wanted a 32gb. She ordered 3 16's. Well, when I picked up the gift card from them, I asked about the chances of a 32. They said they might be able to. Sure enough... he said there were 2 16's and 1 32 waiting for us tomorrow morning. No appointments..they only had 8-10 reservations.

This is strange... I got a call today confirming they had my iPhone (32 GB Black) and they set up an apt with me at 10 AM. They then called back and said there was confusion and that they didn't have enough 32 GB models and that I could switch down to 16 GB. I switched down to the 16 GB and I'm still confirmed for my 10 am appointment tomorrow. I was #6 to preorder, but they must have had a lot of 16 GB phones in order to do that for me.

Black 16 GB. I also live in a pretty populated area (Aventura, FL), and this is one of the only Best Buy's within an hour drive. I pre-ordered at 5 PM give or take a few minutes, and I honestly had NO hope of getting my pre-order fulfilled for tomorrow after reading all the Best Buy stories on here.
 
got another call today. i reserved a 32 gb black and 32gb white. because if white existed i want it but i didnt want to be without a phone (sold my 3g 17 days ago) guy on the phone told me there would be no whites and i could either wait it out or switch to a black 32gb after they fulfill all previous black 32gb. so as it stands the first 32gb white that my bestbuy goes to me and if im unhappy with black i will exchange it or use my dads upgrade and sell my black.
 
I called my local Walmart, since that's the only place here that I know of that is doing first-come first-served, and they told me they only received ONE iPhone 4. I didn't even bother to ask if it was a 32GB or 16GB model.
 
I got ANOTHER call from best buy today.. well really a voice mail but I called back and of course wanted to offer me a black since a white didn't come in... which is fine, i tried to switch to black once already bc i knew they wouldn't get any but said that if i ordered white i'll get white... whatever.
This morning when they called she said she was looking at a white 32GB set aside for me. I understand the box is white, i can see the mix up. But when I called back after receiving a VM I was told that they could only offer me a black 16GB as they have already ran out of 32GB. But I was first on the list...
And i can see the first person misinterpreting the color of the phone based of the box but shouldn't she have been able to tell if it was 32 or 16??

But regardless i'm getting a phone tomorrow, 16GB, but i'll eventually get the white 32 when my husband moves to ATT in a few months. So in the end it usually always works out i guess....:p
 
Hmmm, funny that a lot of these BB stories are the same and at the same time hard to believe. They told me I was #11 and they only got 10 of the black 32gb models in. That seems kind of like a canned line to me.

I was around the 30's on the pre-order list and had ordered at 9 PM on the 16th.

I took the earliest appointment time available. I am not risking anything.
Sadly, I've got college orientation and will be about 15 minutes late but I think I'll make it.


Good luck to those who haven't received an appointment yet! Shipments are still coming in.
