Well no, it's childish to demand that they do. People will choose to compare it to Breaking Bad and there is nothing wrong with that. Breaking Bad setup the story for Saul Goodman and his eventual circumstances of disappearing. Nothing wrong with expecting to see more links. I certainly haven't expected it to be panic from start to finish but I was expecting a pace a little faster than what it is.

What captivates me about Better Call Saul is that we already know that Jimmy will turn into Saul. We get to see how that happens. Right now, Jimmy is attracted to the prospect of being a high-powered attorney with a company car and a nice home. But just like the gift that Kim gave him didn't fit into the cup-holder, he's starting to realize that this lifestyle may not be for him. He recognizes his own ability to explain his way out of situations, and he likes it, as Walter liked what he did in Breaking Bad. But Jimmy also is seeing how this will affect his relationships, especially with Kim.

Agreed. This week's episode is the 1st episode we really see him perform as "Saul" when he is talking with police investigators. It was as close to a Saul Goodman performance as we've seen from Jimmy to date.

Is anyone else surprised he's like in a relationship with Kim? Haha I thought he was in the friend zone for sure, and then week 1 was just a drunken escapade. I think it'll probably be season 3 before he is full Saul. I realize they have to go slowly, because when he's Saul its basically caught up. You can see it now though. Like you mentioned..............he has everything he ever wanted, but doesn't seem completely happy.

I was reading something from Vince Gilligan that he has an overall concept of where he wants to go with the show, but said that it may actually overlap from BB and at some point the show might pass the events of BB and we'll catch up with him in Nebraska and not just the little flash forwards we've seen in a few of the debut episodes each season.

I have been re-watching season one... I forgot how well this show was put together. I need to get finished up so I can start on season two.

I'm also interested in what the writers do with Jimmy's relationship with Chuck. Even though he's achieved success in the conventional legal world, Jimmy obviously still resents his brother for not believing in him. But will they lose contact completely as Jimmy morphs into Saul, or will Chuck still be in the picture somehow as a character we didn't get to see on Breaking Bad?

My guess is something happens. Obviously he resents his brother and also seems to be tired of doing the right thing. Odenkirk did great the way he seems to have such disdain for working at the high end legal office and how much he thoroughly enjoyed the whole pie story with the cops. I think Jimmy and Mike end up doing something that even they can't control and thats when Jimmy goes off the deep end so to speak. Just a guess, but I do think that even though Jimmy is pissed at Chuck he still wants his approval on some level and to do the right thing. You can't completely change over night from something you've wanted and believed your whole life. At least thats how I sort of view what happened to Chuck/Jimmy.

I enjoyed the first season, more so when Mike was around.

I have to say, Mike is one of my favorite characters in the Breaking Bad universe

Got up to speed with a repeat watch of Season 1 Episode 10. :) Saul found out his brother who he's been taking care of for over a year due to his neurosis, not only does not respect him, but does not want him working at his law firm. He relives the good ole days back in Chicago with friend Marco working a variety of scams but sad end for his bud. The saddest thing was the partner offer, but short lived as just watched Season 2 Episode 1. :)

Overall I've been pleased with BCS this season. Ratings are way down though from season 1. I read in Variety that the premiere got 2.57M viewers but has slowly been declining since then. I think last season took advantage of the BB fans when it premiered with almost 7m viewers...........but now it kind of is what it is and starting to stand on it's own. I think it's moving a little slowly for a lot of BB fans.

I'm glad there are people out there though that do like the show more than BB, personally I don't..........however it needs them to be able to stand on it's own. Like I said in another thread I think they are doing themselves a disservice by always throwing out the "Easter Eggs" as they say from BB.........it makes it harder for it to be its own show.

Watched Season 2 Episode 3 yesterday.

I can't believe that I have to wait another week to see how this continues. :(

I definitely would agree. At least he has been the very best in Better Call Saul so far for me anyways.

I think they definitely get a season 3, but if ratings stay the way they are it probably doesn't live past season 4.

Yeah its definitely doing fine now. I'm just saying it is seeing a steady decline week to week. I'm just hoping it doesn't keep declining or it could be in trouble. As it is it started off with a bang last year with over 6m viewers and then slowly declined to the finale at like 3.5m I think? Anyways, I just would like to see it improve and remain steady rather than the steady decline is all.

Sorry, this show just kind of sucks.

Hah, nothing wrong with that and no reason to apologize! Different strokes for different folks.

I happen to think the Walking Dead is lame and there are 8m viewers per week who would disagree with me :D

Better Call Saul's problem IMO as I've said before is I think what makes it great is also what hurts it. It's so closely tied to Breaking Bad that it is allowed to develop very slowly, but on the flip side since it is so closely tied with BB people are getting antsy and want stuff to move at the pace BB did, especially in the last few seasons.

I throughly enjoyed this week's episode. Mike's creative solution to the Tuco problem and Jimmy's confrontations with Chuck and Cliff. Such great work from typically comic actors.

Tuco owns every scene he is in. Fantastic character. Interesting to see Crazy 8 looking very intimidated by him.

I did too, though Mike took a chance that a police car wasn't close by when he called.

If Tuco has been arrested and gets sentenced to 5-10 years (or whatever Mike predicted), I wonder how much of his character we'll see throughout the rest of the series. He'll probably get off easy or even break out is my guess. I can't see Tuco having an even lesser role in the series than he does now. I think we'll see more of him, at least I hope so.

He tries to conform and when he comes up with an effective solution, takes some initiate, staying within ethical boundaries for a change, he gets **** on. Exploring this aspect of Jimmy McGill is some great writing. I did not see him getting in hot water especially after floating the idea with his boss. Par for the course I guess.
