this is compelling but i abhor the thought of buying a year old machine, even at that price

plus, wake me up when theres a 32 gig option considering what a loaded 15" costs and the fact weve been stuck at 16 gigs for almost 6 years now. spare me the 'nobody needs 32 gigs' spiel, thats been proven to be garbage year in year out; if we listened to those people wed all be on 2 gigs of RAM right now and not able to do a damn thing on our computers
Not defending it. But blame Intel for that...

They're selling this at an enormous loss.

I'm sorry but you're confusing Adorama with someone else. Adorama is very reputable.
A different reseller was referenced in the original article, which was later updated to include deals from Adorama.

I agree that Adorama is highly reputable, and to be fair the reseller originally referenced is known to be a quality reseller, too.

A lot of those folks can make do with an iPad.
I need a Mac because I'm a content creator and as such, 1/4TB is not enough.

Hell, I'd suggest a Chromebook. Especially if you're more into Google services, less into the iOS ecosystem (e.g. don't really need iOS App Store), and want a machine that's beast for web surfing and typing. For $200, it's an incredible value!

I assume you have a cheap windows laptop?

I have a 2014 15" MBP. You know - before they made them too thin, took away the ports, added some gimmick tech and jacked up the price. I also have a second hand 12" MB that cost less me less than a new iphone. But, leaving all that aside - I would much sooner buy a "cheap" windows laptop as you put (less expensive != cheap) than overpay for one of the crappy current MBP's.

I bought a brand new 2017 15" for 2600 CDN (retail is 3600), felt like a ripoff then, and still feels like a rip off now.

I upgraded from a 15" 2013 rMBP.

Enjoy your laptop, but can those of us who can utilize the four Thunderbolt 3 ports of the 2017 enjoy ours as well?

The MBP is selling very well, and that’s because Apple knows its buyers value small, light and powerful. The 2017 is an amazing machine, despite your anger.

Not sure how much more wrong someone could be in one post.
You’re speaking as if opinion is fact. You have had good experiences with them. Wonderful. As the saying goes “ You pays your money, you takes your choice.”

Nice savings, just a shame the laptop sucks so much. Hopefully, App,e can see past the sales numbers and get professionals a laptop with a decent keyboard and drop the gimmick touchbar
Speak for yourself, it is the bets laptop I ever had. Touch bar is awesome for many uses and the keyboard is a dream. Thunderbolt 3, super displays light. Perfect laptop.

Apple authorized reseller Adorama is offering an impressive $1,000 discount on the high-end 2016 15-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar.

2016-15-inch-macbook-pro-space-gray.jpg

The special Black Friday sale drops the price of last year's high-end MacBook Pro in Space Gray to $1,899, down from Apple's original price of $2,899 last year. That is by far the lowest price we've ever seen for this particular model.

The high-end 2016 15-inch MacBook Pro is equipped with a 2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD storage, and both dedicated AMD Radeon Pro 460 and integrated Intel HD Graphics 530 graphics.

While newer 2017 MacBook Pro models with Kaby Lake processors were released in May, the performance improvements driven by the small bump in base and turbo frequencies are relatively minor and shouldn't be a big deal for most customers.

B&H Photo Video has a few other notable discounts on select 2016 MacBook Pro configurations:

- 2016 13-inch MacBook Pro with function keys: 2.0GHz Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Intel Iris Graphics 540 - now $1,149, originally $1,499 ($350 off)
- 2016 15-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar: 2.7GHz Core i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, AMD Radeon Pro 455 - now $2,099, originally $2,799 ($700 off)

The deals are available until various times today while supplies last. B&H Photo Video was earlier offering $800 off the base model 2016 15-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, but it has run out of stock for that particular deal.

For additional deals on Apple products and accessories, including other Macs, be sure to check out our Best of Black Friday article and Black Friday roundup, which both continue to be updated throughout the day.

To each his own, of course.

But, the smartest pundits seem to agree the current generation of laptop is a dud in terms of pro needs.

Great post from Marco. I agree with all of this, except Apple should get serious about extending battery life. Microsoft is up to 16 hours, and 10 hours is falling short—to say nothing that most workflows get only about 5-6 hours in real-world Use.

Glad you’re getting money”s worth.

Misleading, you don’t save that much. It’s an older machine which has already lost value since its release in 2016. Comparing the new price to the recommended retail price from last year is a scam.

Are people really complaining about a great deal on a great machine? Cost is relative, I don’t do any “real work” on my machine but I wouldn’t trade it for anything else on the market.

A retailer can sell it for $1000 less and Apple sell them for full price. There’s no way a retailer willing to lose $800 if retailer only makes $200 for profit from that laptop. There’s so much wrong in this thing if that’s the case. It’s a good news for those wanting to grab for that big savings though.

I much prefer MacOS but I just cannot justify that price for home use. I also prefer a 17in laptop screen (although a 15in mac screen will probably do). Ended up getting a Dell Inspiron 17in, installed a 500gb SSD, and spent more than a few days tweaking Windows 10 (not fun) so it annoys me less, and now it performs well for less than half the price, and at the end of the day does the job.
If Apple brought out a well designed plastic case laptop with a reasonable price alot more people would jump on board. It doesn't have to be as thin as the current ones too, just well designed and good choice of materials.

I'm tempted, but being the 2016 model, and the bad reputation of the keyboard. I think I'll pass. Also the refurbs on Apple.com have 2016 at 1850, so the price difference is really only 250 dollars. I know its refurb vs. new but since they're year old machines its a good indication of the price
What’s the deal with the keyboards? I’m too lazy to google it. Lol.

You (and most of the people here) get into trouble the minute you type the word "because." That word should be followed by hard facts or a deductive inference. It should not be followed by conjecture as you did here.

Needing to buy a new computer and debating between MBP and XPS 15. Though I was happy to see this deal, I can still get an XPS 15 with 32 GB (hear that APPLE - 32 GB!) and a 1 TB SSD for cheaper than last year's MBP special with Black Friday specials at Costco. Since Creative Cloud is carrier agnostic now, I don't have to purchase a separate version of it if I decide to switch.

Just looked into the keyboard issue for the 2016. Think I’m going to altogether pass on the 2016.
Has the keyboard issues been fixed on the 2017’s?

I wonder how well a high performance Windows or Linux host machine with VMWare Workstation (with the OSX patch) would run Mac software.

People here are delusional to think that it's fine to get 256GB SSD on a $2,800 Mac
Well the point is that it's a $1900 Mac

I could probably make do with 256GB, but I wouldn't dual boot - though I haven't needed windows in a long time on a MacBook. If this were Space Grey and had a deal on the 512GB as well I'd be in.
