I went jet black, going to feel a whole lot newer. Very used to the matte the last couple years with the 6 and 6s and with the ipad.

I was going to go jet black all the way up until it showed it wouldn't be delivered on launch day (and I must have had to be one of the first ordering, refreshed the app like every second haha). Went with black and got a sept 16th ship date. Honestly my biggest worry was whether or not my wedding band or removing the phone in and out of cases would cause scratches in the finish. Without being able to touch it myself before purchasing, it's impossible to say how easy it will blemish. For nearly $1000 (7 plus 256) I opted for the safer route this time -- even though I know it's going to look stunning when I see it for the first time in an Apple Store!

Jet black is so fresh, matte is just dull and shows fingerprints too.

I disagree. Jet black feels plasticy, scratchy and smudgy. Matt black feels solid quality and durability. I dont do cases anymore either so i go with the one that wont be as prone to scratches. Just ordered myself a 128gb black.

I think I'm the only person on the entire forum who likes space grey.. *runs and hides in corner* :p these new black colours just don't do it for me, which is a shame, because I always get the black front iPhone.

Not upgrading this year anyway, but if the iPhone 7S/8 only comes in these two black options I'm gunna be disappointed.

If space grey had been an option I would have bought it vs the matte black I preordered. Now, if the rumored blue option had been available, I would have done THAT

I disagree. Glossy black resembles the cheap plastic phones of years past. What's "fresh" is the metal look. Remember, Samsung has always had glossy phones, and it used to be that everyone hated on how cheap it looked.

Can we just start a new sticky mega-thread now of the jet black scratch-gate? That way we don't need to see 400 threads about this in about 2-3 weeks when people try to use their phone with no case?

EDIT: Spot sold to Meguiare's Polishing Compound, for all those tough to remove scratches buried deep into the surface of your paint, there's only one choice and that's Meguiar's!

Oh nice when did you receive your iPhone 7 in both blacks?

Pre order say November, now I'll wait and see them in the store and hopefully my choice will be more mindful

Matte black FTW! Both look great but I'm going to slap a clear glossy case on it anyway so I might as well get the one that's less prone to scratches once dirt or other substances slip inside my case. I already know that once I find a scratch on the jet black version my OCD will kick in big time.

I ordered JB when the time came. I know it'll smudge and scratch, but it'll a) be in a case typically and b) only be in my possession for 12 months.

After having a matte phone for years I welcome the change.

View attachment 649541 Hope u guys made the right decision that jet black sexy

There is no right decision, its about personal preference. Just like I think the high gloss looks cheap and plastic. Its my opinion though. I also don't want to find myself in all the "My Phones Scratched" threads come the 17th.

128GB Matte black here. The matte looks so classy and stealthy to me. The "glossy" 7 IMO looks cheesy and I don't want to worry about smudges or scratching. I like to go caseless.

Black over Jet Black. It's just going to be put in a case anyway and I am super OCD about any kind of scratches so I am not doing that to myself.
