Looks like it was well received...
YouTube: Diabolo dev team booed at Blizzcon 2018

I'm sad to see that today PC games are being left behind in exchange for mobile games where your only interaction with the game is to tap or to not tap the screen. However, I am grateful to have grown up with PC games in the golden age of gaming. I just feel bad for those who are growing up today and can't experience anything of the sort.

Because it’s Blizzard, I’m almost certain they won’t mess this up with in app purchases and such non sense.

The crowd are being stupid, you can’t make a full mobile experience game and then make it work on the PC and vice versa. They are just salty they aren’t getting a new Diablo game on PC. And with the success of Heartstone I’m not surprised they are going in this direction.
I’d kill for a mobile version of Starcraft!

They were shown something that did not like, and reacted accordingly, that's not being stupid at all.

Hearthstone would like to have a word with you.
They are just salty they aren’t getting a new Diablo game on PC
Can you blame them? They wait years for an update for the game the love and when the best opportunity finally arises Blizzard decided a mobile game would be better than to add content or a new full version to what is their core market.
And with the success of Heartstone I’m not surprised they are going in this direction.
A card game plays and works a lot differently than an RPG. It's like comparing Magic: The Gathering to The Legend of Zelda.
I’d kill for a mobile version of Starcraft!
As long as it's a 100% port and nothing else, I'd be fine with that as well.

And it will probably be dumbed down to the point where you will become bored with it after a day. At which point you will be hit up for $2.99 to buy (something) and you will leave.

Jesus, the mental gymnastics here are amazing.

Let’s side with the greedy company pushing a watered down cell phone game partnering with one of China’s most loathed makers of games notorious for IAP/micro transactions, who created basically a reskinned version of 3 of their other games, all under the Diablo banner. What could go wrong.

The fact is Diablo 3 was already a step away from what D1/2 were, a dark gothic ARPG. Now they are stepping away from that even further, and fans of the original games are pissed. I bet probably 75% of the people here never even played the first Diablo. If you did, then you should understand the frustration.

It wasn’t the time for diablo 4, first big game have to be warcraft 4,than diablo 4
This can be a lovely game for people at office that hve a small break or bla bla and play some diablo
Diablo 1 was epic from feeling stand point to the dark music, but yet, i was younger and much easier to be impressed

Hey Blizz,

How about releasing Overwatch on Mac? Or re-enabling Metal support in Heroes of the Storm, which greatly improved the fps before it was removed in late 2017?

Inorite?! If you know Blizzard, they love IAP (their in-game store for example). Blizzard isn't shy charging players $25 for a mount so this makes a lot of sense.

I hope they don't go the route though of charging IAP for game critical stuff. I've been a blizzard fanboy since Warcraft came out. I've played WoW since launch.

I don't mind IAP when they're completely cosmetic and options (Like in WoW), but if they go the mobile game route with "pay now to play more faster" and unlock via pay. or pay 2 win... that's going to be seriously upsetting for fans such as myself.

Just as I said, salty fans annoyed they aren’t getting a new game and nothing more, Blizzard doesn’t own you a thing, they will do what makes them the most money like Apple, what sells the most, it’s a business.

And that is exactly the problem. The Blizzard of days past would cancel games because they did not live up to their expectations (see: Warcraft Adventures, Starcraft Ghost, and Titan). The nu-Blizzard has been reduced to peddling Chinese re-skinned P2W mobile games in order to pull in as much cash as possible. It's disgusting.

Call me salty all you want but I would have much preferred they not announce anything Diablo related instead of this trash.

To say Diablo fans are disappointed with this news would be an understatement of Biblical proportions. This snippet from the Q&A kind of shows how Diablo players feel about this release:

Classic denial-type response from those Blizzard reps at the end. “Do you guys not all have phones?!” “You guys all have phones, right?”

First time i’ve ever seen Blizzard so “in-your-face” arrogant like that. Things that make you go, “hmmmmmm.”

I wonder how much MacRumors was paid to write this article. Nobody wants this...

You won’t complain though if they predicted they would be out of business if they didn’t change, and then plan to release updates for their PC games later on.
Blizzard did say a while back now they would be brining more of their franchises to mobile, so I’m still hopeful for Starcraft which will work perfectly fine on a touch screen.
They only tend to work on one or ten games at a time from what I’ve seen.

And yet it’ll be in the top 10 action games or strategy games in the App Store in the first week probably. Proving that millions do want it.

Exactly this. However it is worth noting that a lot of what Titan was became Overwatch.

See Blizzcon a few years back, when someone asked about Classic Servers, they were met with "You think you want them, but you don't."

Yes, correct, however... if they amass fans to a certain product or products, build a reputation, and then SLAM those products into the ground in favour of cheap cash grabs or faster production over quality production, how much longer will that turn a profit?

Yeah, well in WoW, that 25$ mount does nothing that a the 80 gold in-game-currency (IGC) mount from the vendor in Elwynn Forest offers - it's simply cosmetic, it does not do anything extra.

Honestly, with one or two exceptions WoW has been very good about RMT. Early on, mid-TBC, a mount from a refer-a-friend program gave a unique benefit of allowing flying with a two-person mount - they've since fixed that and given several mounts that offers the same with only IGC. They also had a pretty unbalanced RMT battle pet that was released before the battle pet system was released, but since they've released a free-to-access version. Since then, it has been purely cosmetic. The most useful mounts - "Vendor Mounts" they're called (because they have unique functions, like a vendor for clearing bags, offering transmog for changing armor looks, and in the most recent one, an Auction House) have all been IGC.

What? I am not even a fan of the title and I can see this is release will fly in the face of it's fan base. Let me guess...you're mobile "game" dev?
So because he doesn't get the game he demands & thinks he's entitled to as a "long time diablo fan" it's acceptable for he and others to resort to insults and demeaning behavior towards the developers?

I think it’s funny how people get so mad that others get a chance to play a great game. If you don’t like it, guess what, it’s not for you! That doesn’t mean they’re going to stop developing games for other consoles, it just means millions of others with mobile devices get to enjoy it too! Chill out! The future of gaming is in mobility and accessibility.

If this mobile Diablo is buy once and play, then I am super stoked for it. If it’s pay to win, or requires a subscription I will sadly have to pass.
Have you not read any of the other comments in this thread? They are partnering with Netease, a Chinese company that is notorious for IAP/P2W games. Many of their games they have already put out are styled just like the preview of Diablo Immortal, meaning this game is basically just a reskin using Diablo 3 assets that have been out for years.
