Personally I think you guys whining about other people whining is worse. Oh well, junk happens, we should all be used to it by now. Move on.

Oh deary me Apple. Not going well this time round is it? Whatever happened to testing stuff before releasing it?

Happened to me too. I had typed up a whole lot of prep notes for a job interview I was going to. Went to read over them on the four hour train journey to the interview in London and everything was gone.

Spent ages trying to figure out what had happened until I heard about this Reset All Settings bug, which is coincidentally exactly what I had done the evening before.

Thanks Apple. Trust is an easy thing to lose, and once you lose it, it's gone forever. Office and OneDrive for me from now on.

I love Apple products and try to stay in the Apple ecosystem as much as possible. But the bottom line is (imho) that Apple just sucks at the Cloud. It's been this way for years and sadly seems that it will remain this way for awhile.

I've never had any issues with my contacts or calendars disappearing from iCloud but that hasn't stopped me from constantly backing them up to another service (I use Gmail). There is absolutely 0 chance that I will use iCloud Drive as my main cloud storage for documents, it is just so far behind the competition (and spare me the "they just released it" crap because the old iDrive was miles ahead of this iCloud Drive bs).

Using a service like Google Docs really makes me want to switch to Google. I never will because I love my Apple products too much but it's really frustrating that they can't get their ***** together with their cloud based software.

iOS8 is a disaster.

So one person has this issue, it's gets put on the front page and people start whining about it, has this even been confirmed yet by someone technical?

Well mine went a while ago but I didnt know it was related to this. it's not expected but makes sense.

Whoops! This is why reliance on "Da Cloud" is a fool's errand. Never had it years ago, and yet we still had plenty of data backup plans which worked... WHEN PEOPLE WERE EDUCATED PROPERLY.

What was ever wrong with a good HARD lesson in backup management, and a few external drives? People are lazy, and if they don't backup, and don't have "Da Cloud", they can't blame anyone except themselves, for their idleness.

"Ohhh, it's okay - I have it all backed up inda clouddd"

No ya don't, kiddo - Apple deleted it :D :p LMAO

Don't blame Apple for being human and making coding mistakes - blame your lazy fat ass selves, for not having a contingency plan. In a word, TOUGH.

To be fair this probably isnt that big of problem overall since no one uses iCloud documents.

I had this happen during the beta period but was assured it was because they had reset all iCloud accounts. Even thought it was a few days afterwards.

In Yosemite, if you go to the iCloud folder and then activate time machine, my computer shows old copies and allows me to restore icloud documents from the local time machine backup. So should be user recoverable.

Ouch. This bug is huge for folks who use those apps. I don't so it doesn't affect me. I bet they release 8.03 tomorrow.

This partially happened to me in the beta, though the docs came back with the final release. Hopefully others affected find the same at some point.

I wonder what triggers it, because it isn't affecting the majority.

OMG, ResetGate!!! :O

Right after BendGate, WilliamsGate and CellGate!!!:eek::mad:

Poor Steve Jobs. He would never have allowed this!!!

To be fair, the rest of the computing industry is still suffering from #BillGates, even though he's some philanthropist now with all that blood money.

you're right

Bring back Scott Forstall please. He may have been an ******* (so I hear) but at least things worked* when he was in charge.

* For the purposes of my rant please pretend the maps thing didn't happen.

and should keep Jony Ive away from anything related to software

Ok, the so-called "bendgate" was a joke. Another overblown non-event.

This , on the other hand, is just NOT acceptable. this is not what I expect from Apple. They really need to get their **** together or GTFO.

Steve jobs fired half the .Mac team after that debacle. I'm not suggesting they should do the same here, but there seems to be some serious quality control at Apple these days.
