WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE CAMERA APP

It's nowhere as good as the one's I've seen in this thread, but I thought I'd give the new Camera+ update a try at the store and I'm pretty happy with the result:

I'm a big fan of Camera+ lately, however I can't figure out why 3rd party camera apps still seem to be unable to save EXIF (and GPS?) data to the Camera Roll?

I see that Camera+ will save EXIF data on a photo uploaded to Flickr, but not if it's saved to the camera roll. Is this still an Apple limitation? I thought iOS4 was going to totally open up the Camera API. Haven't been able to get a straight answer.

Here's a shot I took and processed solely in Camera+ recently on my 3GS:

Can't wait to pickup an iPhone 4 when it's released here in Canada on Friday and seeing what I can do with it's camera.

I don't know if this is an Apple limitation, I hope they add this feature to a future version of Camera+. I do know that Hipstamatic has a setting to save EXIF data, so it looks like it's an app specific thing. Nice picture! You'll love the IP4!!

Nice pic, keep em coming!

If this thread continues to remain popular, I think we should have a photo contest! I'll have to figure out the best way to make it happen, people could vote on their favorite photo in the thread. Something to think about down the road.. keep em coming!

Personal favorite is the dog on the beach so far. FWIW

I have a few pictures I've taken with the iPhone 4 (all taken using Camera+ but I tend to open them up in Best Camera for applying filters and sharing) that are located here:

All in all, I love both apps. The main reason I tend to use Best Camera for filters is simply because I like the Slate filter a lot, but the filters in Camera+ tend to work quite well.

Someone asked about the two-finger focus control: the second "focus point" basically acts as the point that Camera+ uses as the exposure setting. It works well, but does take a little getting used to working with.

A few pics with Camera+

The giraffe I unfortunately accidentally exported out to the photo roll after applying a crop and the "Text" lighting effect, so on reimport to get the Hipster effect it lost that info per the discussion above (some apps don't save EXIF data)

Those pics aren't necessarily any good, but everyone is asking for examples of what the app does.

I enjoy using it anyway.

There's some amazing pics taken by the winner of Mostly Lisa's photo contest last week at

My iPhone 4 photos

You will be surprise how well these came out for a cell phone.

Within the years we are going to see the new generation iPhones to replace you pocket camera. I'm getting on the boat on using my iPhone as a stand alone camera with this generation iPhone and the next.

I use Camera +, TiltShift (not TiltShift Generator), Color Splash. Uploaded using Flickr app, or through Camera + app.

Check them out!

How in the world did you do that??????

Glad I finally checked in on this thread. I had been thinking of purchasing camera+ since it was on sale and after looking at lots of great examples I just bought it. I will report back if I get any good shots.

I own a Canon 7D DSLR and I found myself using my iPhone for pretty much 95% of things. The camera is just really nice and being able to edit the photos quickly and share them right from the phone on Twitter, Flickr, and Facebook makes it even more valuable to me. Chase Jarvis has said "The best camera is the the camera that is with you" and with the iPhone being so portable I believe this to be true.

Here is a shameless plug to my iPhone photos (aka iPhoneography):

While I do like many of the apps listed in this post my favorite apps are CrossProcess, PictureShow and ShakeItPhoto.

"if" = when.

Good luck!!

Wow Andrea.. that's a cool photo perspective. Would look really neat with a foreground focus and blurring to the distance..

Nice pic!

It's an Apple limitation, even in iOS4. I'm an iPhone developer and I looked into it. There is no way to save EXIF data into pictures sent to the Camera Roll using the public APIs. Hipstamatic does the same thing... it keeps EXIF data internally, but it gets stripped when exporting to the camera roll.

This angers me deeply, as developers have been asking for this for years and Apple does nothing. It really cripples just about every photo app... you can either choose to have your EXIF information make it onto your computer by using only the built-in camera, you can use a third-party photo app which strips it, or you can painstakingly email your EXIF-enabled images to yourself from the third party apps that support that and put them onto your computer manually.

I'm thinking about writing a jailbreak app (once the iPhone4 is jailbroken) to rip these images from the bundles of the apps I use and force them into the camera roll so they can be synced. It's absolutely ridiculous that this isn't supported.

The camera on the iPhone 4 really came into it's own during our break away to visit family in Carnoustie last week.

During a visit to Lunan Bay in Montrose, the HD video recordings and photographs I got, especially of our two dogs playing on the beach, have turned out nothing short of fantastic.

Here is one of the photos, taken on the iPhone 4 with the Camera app and totally unedited, of the dogs in our Aunt's back garden. The level of clarity and detail in the photos is superb.

Thanks for weighing in and clearing that up. I think a jailbroken app would be fantastic, let us know what you come up with down the road.

^ Umm... do you have a Steve Jobs "baseball" card in one of those fancy protective display cases?!? LOL

I've been a big fan of iPhone photography, and quite addicted to Camera Bag app. No one using?

This is a great thread. I went ahead and made a photo group on Flickr for everyone to add their iPhone and Camera+ (I guess any iPhone app also) photos to and share with everyone.

Link: http://www.flickr.com/groups/1489887@N23/

I have been using this app for a while now along with some other apps on my iPad to do all of my photo editing on these mobile devices. Check out my pictures that are already in the group that I have taken and there are many more to come.

I am thinking about going out tonight and catching some pictures of an old barn at sunset. I will post the pictures later to the group. Thanks.

Here is one of my photos:

Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm a big fan of the Camera+ app & really love it, especially now that I got my iPhone 4 Saturday night. Here are some of the photos I've taken & edited with Camera+.
