So if we do somehow see an 8 Core 2.66GHz Mac Pro with 2GB of RAM, 320GB HD, 256MB Nvidia 8500GT with options for other high end current video cards, are you going to claim that an insignificant upgrade?

Nice! All the signs point to an update (price wise at least). I don't know if i have faith in Apple this time around though.
You don't know a damn thing about where I'm 'coming from'. I've had the same Dell for 5 years. And it has done the job (with upgrades) until now. But it doesn't change the fact that I will NOT pay top-dollar for a computer with a year and a half-old vid card, and one that I will have to immediately upgrade the RAM just to support the processors.

as i said , you're not a veteran macuser and so don't realise apple have NEVER put out a mac with enough ram to run it's os ( and a few apps ) properly
even in the os 7-8-9 days macs were undernourished ram wise
how else do you think apple make their profit ?
and you think by tuesday 6pm we'll have a mac with double the ram and hd that we do now ?

45nm chips would be faster than a 65nm chip at the same clockspeeds . So, the increases mean more of a performance boost. Also, 12MB of cache up from 8MB is pretty significant as well.

There aren't any 2.4GHz Xeons comming and 3.33GHz only in dual core which aren't comming until 2008. That debunks it for me on the MP side.
