Don’t let AT&T rep bully you off your unlimited grandfathered plan! I was able to add the watch to my grandfathered plan for the $10 fee per month. Be as persistent as they are in trying to switch you to a new unlimited plan, and they will let you add it!!

How did you accomplish that?

I had the same problem, then I restarted both the Phone and the watch and was able to add the plan on my Mobile share plan.

Anyone here with the ATT mobile share value plan able to activate their LTE watch without any problem?
Yes....I was able to activate with the Mobile Share Value plan. Was much easier than I expected. Started the process from the Watch App on the phone, which ultimately linked me to the ATT app in mobile safari. Took about 5 minutes or so in total.

Same here.

Ive talked to 3 techs on the phone and been to the ATT store twice before getting connected. From what I gather solved the problem was the tech on the phone had to enter one of the Watch numbers in manually because the system wouldn’t take it. I think it had something to do with the sim number. That didn’t solve my problem of getting the synch number going because they needed me to log into our business account, which we never set up. The guy in the store set up my online att account with the sign in ID and was then able to get the Watch connected. Before all this, I was stuck in the AW app at the connect cellular portion. I could click it but it always came back with an error.

We just got the daughters AW I ordered from Apple. Setup was automatic, just followed the prompts. It logged in to AT&T and bam it was done. Sorry to hear so many are having issues.

I can answer my own question. I was able to keep my grandfathered unlimited data plan.

Hey that is great news! I assume you went to the store for activation? Any tips for the rest of us? I have the AT&T grandfathered plan as well. My S3 wont ship till mid October though. Thanks for sharing.

Well this is fun.

Trying to add the watch to att both on phone and on-line. I get though quite a bit of it but when faced with the “continue” button it just stalls. Eventually it times out.

I’m on the phone with the rep and we think we know what is wrong. In order to add a line att does a credit check and I’ve frozen my credit. I’ve only been a client since the days of cellular one and have never had a late payment...sheesh. We are trying to work through it.

Edit: Ok it is getting nuts. I’ve now been told that ATT is not allowing *any* BYO devices anymore due to fraud. No one, unless you purchased a watch through att, can get it activated I sense it is a very bad day at att.

How? Did you activate the plan online or in-store?
I was at the store and she needed the numbers off the box. Once she entered them on my account I was able to add the watch using the watch app on my phone.

I use my original phone number as the ATT userid.

It was originally called a FAN account through my employer. Basically 15% off service. Earlier this year, they converted to a Signature account.

I logged onto ATT using my phone# as userid. Looked up my ATT login ID. I tried that with my watch, but still got the error messages.
A FAN Account now know as Signature Program is not a Business Account. That part is fine but you did not answer the question about what type of plan you have for your iPhone:

  • AT&T Unlimited Plus℠
  • AT&T Unlimited Choice℠
  • Mobile Share Advantage℠
So when you use your ATT login ID from a web browser does it only your phone number/line does it manage multiple lines?

I have frozen my credit also because of the Equifax recent hack. I don't think they do a credit check for 10 dollars a month anyway. My setup was automatic just following the prompts on the phone. It signed in to AT&T and took just a few seconds to finish. My AW was purchased from Apple.

Hi guys for what it’s worth I’m hoping this helps you out if my situation is similar to yours. I am on a corporate FAN and have online account access through att premier.

Like many others I was getting constant errors all day trying to setup my new ceramic series 3. After an hour with tech support, which is an utter and complete joke (they were reading things off paper with me on the phone), I took things into my own hands.

I went on to the premier portal and went to shop. It will prompt you with some options, I chose bring a device to att. In the next few screens it prompted me for imei and eid (both can be found in the Watch app on your iPhone with your paired series 3 under general, about). It then promted me to select a plan (only one was available - mobile share for wearables at $10 per month). A few more screens of info to fill in, and voila order complete. Several minutes later email confirmations from att with my new watch phone number. Few minutes later went back into watch app and checked cellular and it had been activated.

I know this may not help everyone but it seemed lots of business customers were having trouble so I hope this helps.

I don’t remember which mobile share I have. Huge unlimited plan with 7 phones and 2 iPads. Kind of pisses me off that on top of all that they are going to hit me for $10 for a watch that I doubt i will use the feature on. I’ll see. But it was a breeze to activate.

I've tried 3 setup attempts and i never get the option to "set up cellular." in fact, when checking the settings on the watch, the sim fields are blank (which i assume populate after activation). the only sign of cellular life is when i turn on the cellular button in the control center app and i'm told to "activate cellular in the phone app." nothing there either.

am i missing something or does anyone else know?

Thank you, but I’m stuck right at the end:

Do you want a new phone number for this device?
Yes, give me a new number
No, transfer my current number

Which one do you pick here?

I don’t know how you managed to pull that off. I went to three different stores and spent multiple hours on the phone with them and they were unsuccessful. I finally caved.

Give me a new number. The watch needs a new number in order to merge it into your iPhone line via numbersync.

Sim will be blank until you activate. That’s how esim works.
