Even though you will use one number for your phone and watch I believe AT&T needs to assign you a new number in their system for the watch's sim card. They do the same thing for cellular iPads.

Sorry they don't have things working a bit better on day 1 for you!

This is true, when I ordered my watch it showed me the phone number for my watch on one of the pages after actually checking out. You have to link them using AT&T NumberSync, I know that for a fact. Hopefully things get sorted out soon. Wish I was enjoying my S3 with you guys! :(

:apple:

I just got told from ATT that the issue is primarily with Business Account holders. They can't enable mine until tomorrow update pushes out even though I am the primary on the account.

so basically you go to the section that is bring your own device and allow it to assign you a new number? I almost did that but chickened out.

I tried the AT&T chat again and after giving my IMEI number, I was told that the agent would activate it for me. He said it should take two hours and I need to restart it at that time.

Wish me luck...

I was able to open the box, set up the watch through the app on the phone, and connect cellular without any issue. It automatically got my number from the phone and activated it on my watch. I have ATT and I bought directly from apple. I tested it out by leaving my phone at home and going to the store. Was able to text and call clearly without issue. It was very cool. Good luck to everyone.

OK , so I am trying to set up the watch with AT&T. .Got to the screen for verifying Apple ID and it is like taking 15 minutes to verify. Any suggestions?

What type of ATT plan do you have?

I do have an ATT signature account through my employer. I wonder if that could be the problem?

You can test right where you are. You can just disable the Wi-Fi on the watch while your iPhone is in Airplane mode and your watch will use LTE.

Wouldn’t do it so I took a quick walk. It held the WiFi well past the real range like reported. I turned cellular off and back on and it connected to LTE.

I’m at ATT and when we click set up cellular, it is giving a please call this 800 number and error code.

Anyone with the old grandfathered unlimited data able to add the watch w/o changing their plan?

i also have the same discount and a mobile value share plan. i was just able to go through the cellular setup and have gotten the alerts that numbersync was set up successfully

On a 1 hour+ chat with ATT and have been escalated to Advance Technical Support Team. The first agent was clueless.

I used the Apple Watch Cellular activation and it told me my line would be activated and I would get an email once done. I got an email confirming this and an ATT order confirmation number...

I didn't get to see the page where I see number assigned to my AW and do the NumberSynch etc.

Anyways, the agent on chat had to ask for my IMEI, EID, SEID etc. Now they can see a phone number "reserved" for my watch and they're trying to sort it out at the backend. No idea why the automated process didn't work yet.

No that is still what is know as a IRU aka a personal account. What plan do you currently have?

I get the ATT Numbersync screen. Enter my ATT Phone# and password. I get "Activation Unsuccessful", call ATT with an error code of EAPS360003. Press Close. Get the "Oops" Message. That wasn't supposed to happen. Give us a minute and it will get fixed. Error code EDS0218.

I have tried 10-15 times. Powered off and back on both Phone and Watch.
It looks like it might not like the AT&T Access ID and Password that you provided. Can you confirm whether you Access ID starts with a Number or a Letter?

Let me tell you what worked for me.

I unpaired and re-paired my Apple Watch to my iPhone. I used my S2 info for a restore... it doesn't seem to care if you set up new or from restore.

Once I had re-paired it (this was my 3rd re-pairing, btw) and both the phone and the watch were showing as all set up as usual, I then power-cycled my watch AND my phone. This power-cycling of the phone was the very first time I'd power-cycled my phone the whole time I had this ordeal going on.

I cannot tell you what sort of voodoo happened, but when the phone and watch were both powered back on, I could then go into the Watch app under "Cellular" and the option to Set Up Cellular was no longer grayed out.

Granted, it is still in "Activating" mode and might just not work, but I managed to get this far and it's farther than I got the last few times, so there's that.

Ugh. This reminds me of when I bought the original iPhone on launch day and it took 3 days to finally activate. Very poor coordination of this launch with the carriers.

ETA: It worked! Is all set up now. Also, during NumberSync process it did show that there was a 55-dollar credit (25 to waive activation and 30 for 3 months of service) that I would get over 3 months. It did not say which 3 months, though. LOL.

I just want to add that I had the same (original) problem, where I wasn't prompted to set up Cellular during pairing and then in the Apple Watch app under Cellular it told me AT&T didn't support Apple Watch. Okay, so, after reading through a bunch of stuff on here I did this: rebooted both devices, shut off wifi, and tried again and it worked as expected, took two tries to get through the setup process because it timed out once but no biggie, it's all good now.

So, uh, I guess reboot your crap, other people who are seeing this same issue :) Good luck.

I use my original phone number as the ATT userid.

It was originally called a FAN account through my employer. Basically 15% off service. Earlier this year, they converted to a Signature account.

I logged onto ATT using my phone# as userid. Looked up my ATT login ID. I tried that with my watch, but still got the error messages.

I was told that also. But I just went into my local ATT store and they were able to pull up our business account and get it activated.

I had to move off grandfathered plan to unlimited plus then add a third line for the watch.
Don’t let AT&T rep bully you off your unlimited grandfathered plan! I was able to add the watch to my grandfathered plan for the $10 fee per month. Be as persistent as they are in trying to switch you to a new unlimited plan, and they will let you add it!!

Ok. My chat is now ending after 2 hours with a call back promise for Monday

Chat agent said my ICCID is not one that would generally be compatible with ATT network... He also said ufortunately resetting the watch won't help since it has to do with the ICCID the EID links to.

So I guess no LTE for me over the weekend...
