For the 6 series, I went with the 6+ and the 6s+. Never once was the size an issue for me. I run as well, and just adjusted the way I hold the phone. Never had an issue with having it in my pocket etc.

Between my 6+ and 6s+, I tried a 6s for a couple of days. I loved the size, but the battery life sucked. That was the sole reason I returned it.

I went with the 7 this time around. Hopefully the battery life is a little better than the 6s - they say it is.

I ordered a 6, but have been waiting to cancel, as I decided on a plus. Pumped for the bigger screen. When can I cancel this thing? My delivery is Friday.

The 7/7+ are arguably closer than the 6S/6+.

Battery life is better on the 7 than the 6S.
Battery life is worse on the 7+ than the 6S+ (look it up).

The 7 & 7+ have the same OIS camera. The second camera on the 7+ only matters if you want zoom or fake bokeh.

The 7+ has higher ppi and rez, but you have to deal with a much bigger phone to get it. The 7 screen is also brighter and higher contrast than the 7+.

The 7 still benchmarks a smidge faster than the 7+ (just like previous generations).

If Apple shrinks the bezels then maybe, but if they shrink the bezels more on the 4.7", I'll like it even more.
That's not good. I had the 6s plus for about a week and that battery wasn't any better than my 6.

Sure this has been said but with 6/6+ and 6s/6s+ the features/specs were the same. Now with iPhone 7/7+ its not even close. Just surprised so many people are upgrading to the 7 from a 6/6s when a much better phone (7+) is available. Apple has drawn a line in the sand, the bigger phones get the best upgrades now. 7+ FTW.
What are you talking about? The 7/7+ are closer than the 6S/6S+ in most of the core ways. The cameras are now the same, although with the plus you get an additional camera with a small and gimmicky feature set. The battery life on the 7 has improved more than the 7+ and the difference is smaller now. The only additional benefit to the plus is the 3gb RAM, but by all accounts that seems to be used mainly for the additional camera update than anything else.

I think there is a real misconception that this time around, the Plus camera is so much better than the 4.7 model. This is a good job by Apple's marketing department to get more sales out of the Plus model, but in actual practice these cameras are optically the same. There was a bigger difference in the previous generation when the plus had optical image stabilisation which makes a big difference in videos and photos and the 4.7 model didn't.

Apple's use of the the dual camera setup in the Plus has successfully created a real perception that the Plus is significantly better. All the talk of 'DSLR-like' qualities of the Plus cameras has entered the minds of consumers out there, even though it's not connected to reality.

When we first heard rumours of the dual camera setup, we had all these imaginations about what it could do. In reality, it doesn't do much, but those fantasies are still alive.

When looking at early benchmarks, the 7 outperforms the 7+, despite having less RAM. Doesn't look like a "much better phone" to me, except for the secondary camera...

(I've pre-ordered both, btw. So no bias from my side.)

I'd get the plus. I had a regular 6 on purpose so that I could get the "Plus" on the S model and have it feel completely new again.

I do like the regular size phone fine, really nice actually. However, today, there is no shame in having a big phone, and if you have a way to carry it, why not?

Do you have a link?

All the benchmarks I'veseen point to virtually the same performance between the two, with 7 Plus actually having the very small edge in some tests (mostly GPU, running at the same resolution).

Of course I can't verify if they're legit, but at least they don't look to much like a fake.

Geekbench score:
iPhone 9,3 (iPhone 7) - 3379 single / 5495 multi
(source: http://cdn.macrumors.com/article-new/2016/09/Screen-Shot-2016-09-06-at-12.37.15.jpg)

iPhone 9,4 (iPhone 7+) - 3233 single / 5363 multi
(source: http://cdn.bgr.com/2016/09/iphone-7...hmark-test.jpg?quality=98&strip=all&strip=all)

As mentioned above, they of course could be fake, but since they appeared rather early and pretty much confirmed the 7+ having 3GB of RAM, I'd be tempted to trust them, especially since it's plausible that the 4.7 performs slightly better as it has much less pixels to push.

This is another 7 Plus Geekbench 4 benchmark, with clearly higher scores than the one you posted. The CPU performance is the same between two models. The benchmark results will vary by a couple of percent between every run.

I run. I put my phone in a mini backpack and use bluetooth PowerBeat 2s. I have an Apple Watch as well. This is how I get around the size issue. The watch lets me stay in touch if an emergency occurs since I have my phone on me in the back pack.

I've thought about that, but it's quite the price to pay to run with your phone. With the regular sized iPhone, I feel like I can use an inexpensive running belt or armband. I tried a running belt with my Plus and it was just too large - the length is close to half the width of my body (I'm obviously not a very large person).

I come from the note series and here is my experience with large phones...I went from the htc m8 5inch to the note 4 5.7 inch and it took me a short period of time to adjust...mainly handling the phone and the feeling of it in my pocket. I love the screen real estate for videos, web browsing, google maps, texting etc. BUT it does become a little annoying while on the go, anytime I go hiking or biking I kinda wish I had a smaller phone to carry but every time I go check out the smaller phones I cringe at the size of them.. after a while you learn to almost juggle the phone in your hand, I use my fingers to balance the phone and I do this now without even realizing it. I can perform a lot of one handed operations now and my hands are medium to large, reaching to the top of the screen to pull down notifications is probably the toughest task but I find it less annoying after getting used to it now. The note doesn't even feel large anymore, at first it was awkward especially talking it felt like holding a tablet up to your ear plus back then the note series was NOTICEABLY bigger than anything else on the market so it stood out....to me apple needs a 5 inch phone...I get annoyed typing on a tiny keyboard now so I don't think I can go below 5inches for sure
Yes! I rant daily about how I want a 5.1" iPhone with small bezels for pocketability. I think you're the first person (other than myself) I've heard who wants a 5" iPhone.

Now if we can just get a few hundred million people to agree with us...

I love the size of the 4.7" but the screen resolution is quite low at 750p. We'll have think about it some more since I have the 6S. I like the JB color and going to upgrade but want a higher resolution for watching videos.

I used the 6 a full year and then the 6S. I tried the plus size here and there and always quickly went back. This year I preordered the 7 Plus hoping I can adapt in order to enjoy the larger screen and camera zoom.

That said, I personally am happy that both phones are more similar than ever. I've shown before, my hands are larger than paper plates and while the plus looks more natural in my hand, the 4.7 is lighter and less intrusive. If the plus bugs me, to the 7 I'll go.

LOL...all the pro reviews on the 7+ camera has been great. If you like little phones you should be happy with 7.

Welp. That didn't last long. Cancelled my 7 reservation. Going to try to reserve a 7+ as soon as apple lets me. It's a better phone. There's no question about it. The only question is can I get used to the size. Well we will see but I'm definitely going to try in order to get the use the best iPhone possible.

Since I am going LG V20 with an extra 200gb microSD inserted to it, I guess I'd choose...

iPhone 7 Plus (256gb/jet black)

The extra perks like dual cameras, 3gb RAM, sharper display, and better battery life is just too good to pass up. Might as well go for the best possible model with highest storage space. Initially liked the matte black 7 but I guess I am not minding the extra size on the Plus anymore!

Jet black = selling out
7 Plus = selling out

The jet black selling out is also proving the 128gb/256gb are the more popular or becoming the rarer storage options.

As per previous post in this thread, after some deliberation, I ordered a 7 and am due to collect in store tomorrow morning.

Having thought about it more this week (a lot!!), I think I've made a mistake to be honest. Really wish they gave you just a little bit more time between the announcement and the pre-orders going live to make a well thought out choice.

Seriously considering putting in an order for a 7+ at the moment. If the 7 seems ok, I can just keep it and cancel the order for the Plus. If not, then I can return it within 14 days and wait on the Plus to arrive.

I think we had a very similar week! I've been driving myself crazy along with my friends and family.

Finally, I said to myself. Self. Do you want the best iPhone with the most features? Myself said yes. Lol.

So I'm getting the plus. Later on if I hate it it will be very easy to return or trade or sell it because it will be the hottest phone out. But I'm really really hoping I can deal with the size this time.

Similar weeks indeed, lol! I have barely entioned it to my wife, my constant deliberations over such "first world issues" drive her bonkers. :D

I'll go and get the regular 7 tomorrow as planned.

I'll maybe wait and see what the situation looks like on Saturday for booking an in-store order of a Plus for the next week or so. If that's a non-starter, I can see me ordering a Plus for delivery over the weekend sometime.
