I had both the 6 Plus and the 6S Plus. Both awesome! I got used to dealing with the size, but it was never comfortable. I've been using an SE for the past few months and used a Note 7 until it was recalled. Both of these are much more comfortable to use than the Plus.

The Plus, with the huge bezels, is just way too big and uncomfortable to use based on the screen size. I'm getting the 7, which I think is the sweet spot between the SE and the Plus. I'll move back to the larger size when they can make it comfortable to use like the Note 7 was.

It kills me not to get the better camera, but people are forgetting that the 7 and 7 Plus have the SAME wide angle camera. The Plus merely includes an extra camera that provides 1 feature: 2X optical zoom. And for that matter, the telephoto lens may not have OIS, and definitely has a worse aperture than the wide angle lens. I think the lack of this one feature is worth it for significantly more comfortable use day-to-day.

I am going with the 7 plus on launch day.

7 Plus advantages over 7s:
Bigger battery makes a huge difference
More RAM
Bokeh affect
Dual camera
Larger screen
1080p screen
However for those getting the 7, there are some benefits.
7s advantages over the plus:
Feels nicer to handle
Better Low light camera
Easier to get hold of on launch day

You forgot about battery life and dual pane apps and the higher resolution screen.

Better low light camera? Don't they have the same camera?

This is exactly why I'm moving to the 7. The bezel is huge. If the Plus was bezel-less or drastically reduced, if consider it again. Until then, the 4.7" screen just works better. I'm looking forward to the weight difference as well, since my magnetic car mount doesn't like the heavier 6 Plus.

No it won't. Apple added the extra ram this year to the larger phone to put its performance back on par with the 4.7 model. The 6+ and 6s+ had noticeable screen lag when compared to the smaller screen iPhones. The Geekbench scores are out on both new iPhones and the 7 4.7 is still slightly faster even with less ram. The extra ram is just there to help with screen real estate.
RAM has nothing to do with Geekbench scores. It doesn't affect them at all. Extra RAM enables more apps, tabs etc. to be kept in that memory to prevent reloading. 7 Plus will be able to keep significantly more apps and tabs in memory than 7.

Didn't say anything about the RAM helping with the Geekbench scores. It's just there on the 7+ to help with the UI experience with the bigger screen. I'm glad you think the 7+ will be able to load so many more apps than the 7. Are you an Apple engineer or is this just conjecture? Pretty sure that the extra RAM will be tied up running processes for the larger UI, but hey anything is possible and I'll eagerly await the YouTube videos showing the 7+ outperform the 7.

I can reserve an iPhone 7 in the color and storage I want right now for launch day. It still being available must be a sign that I should get the 7 and not the plus. Right??

I've had iPhone 6 sized phone since the 6. I love the thought of more screen real estate and the added features but I'm worried about carrying the phone in my front right pants pocket.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Does your iPhone 6+/6S+ do okay with pocket use? Would love some comments.

Thanks all,
M

I have them both (6s and 6s Plus). Would go back and forth between them but ultimately settled on larger battery and screen. Grabbing your phone off the charger 7am and not even worrying about charging until you go to bed is a very nice feeling.

With the iPhone 7 just now being released, I would go with the Plus. It's the best iPhone of the two with the better features.

I had the iPhone 6S+, can't wait to go back to the smaller phone with the 7. The bigger screen size doesn't actually make that much of a difference, I'm not any more productive on the 5.5 than the 4.7. You can really really notice the big size in the hand and pocket though, it's too heavy and too big.

I will go back the 4.7 inch phone, until Apple can change the design of the 5.5 to be both lighter and smaller than currently. Then I will reconsider.

I actually really enjoy the size of the Samsung S7 Edge with a 5.5 inch screen, but it feels closer in size to the iPhone 6S than the 6S+.

There is rumor that normal 7 has a bigger sensor than 7 Plus, because of the dual lens system occupying more space. Hopefully not true, as I'd like to have the best possible camera for what is a super expensive device ($120 more than the regular 7).

It's not true. They both have the same exact camera. Phil confirmed on Twitter. Hate when false information gets spread

I love the form factor of the 6 and am not a huge fan of the size of my wife's 6+. However I could not resist the camera of the 7+ and that's what I've ordered. Black for me and Rose Gold for her.

I'm on board with everything about the plus except portability.

I can't put that thing in my pocket comfortably. If I'm out and about, my nice jeans don't go with with a 7+

Hmm. Geekbench is showing the iP7 faster than the iP7+ despite the memory bump.

I know the 6 & 6S were quicker than the Plus but I thought the extra memory would help it pull away.

I'm so conflicted on if I should keep my Plus order or get the 7. It's a 2 year choice.

I went from the 6S to a 7+ pre-order

It just represents more of an "upgrade" and a offers some new aspects that will keep the experience new and interesting for the next year.

I'm going from a 6 to a 7 plus. I always wanted the plus when it came out two years ago but I didn't manage to get one when pre ordering so just went with the 6.

My friend has a plus and I've never thought the size was an issue. Looked at them plenty of times in the Apple Store as well. the additional features of the 7 plus also give me more reasons to justify the upgrade.

OK first post. Long time lurker..

Apologies if this has already been mentioned. The camera has always been no.1 priority for me and cant decide 7 or 7 plus but I hate overly big phones. Am I right in thinking if the telephoto lens is f2.3 and not OIS then the whole draw to the bokeh effect might not be so tempting? Its just that if the telephoto lens is doing the sharp in focus portrait then this will have worse low light capabilities (more noise etc) than the previous iPhone main camera? Being that most portraits will be taken indoors does that not kind of take the shine off this feature? Indoors you are gonna want to use the fast f1.8 lens surely?

Have ordered the 7 but intially felt like I was going to miss out on the bokeh effect (not bothered about optical zoom and less distortion will just move closer).

Whats everyones thoughts?
