2020.06.06 has 2 unexpected improvements for me. The first one was minor - the audio stutter I would get the first time I used my phone for directions after starting my car is gone.

The second one is a lot more “major”, in that I was finally able to activate the usb-a carplay2air unit I bought back in late March and had been sitting in a drawer since.

Well I tried to update manually, left it plugged in for 10 minutes. Never got anything but a red LED.

Fortunately the thing is not bricked, but it doesn't look like the update took.

Did it actually flash between red and green at all? or just stay red the entire time? Mine flashed between red and green, but when it was finished was a solid red. Same with my USB-A Carplay2Air unit (flashed red and blue with a solid red when finished).

Try a different usb drive? I've had reliable results using a 16gb Sandisk Cruzer Fit (those really nice and discrete flash drives) formatted as Fat32 with default block size.

My experience with 2020.06.06.1244 Fw is not as expected. It fix problem in my Ford where CP2A didn’t respond on touch screen during startup so I couldn’t control device. But, with latest FW my interlocutors complain about interruptions during phone calls from my side. I can hear them relatively OK but it seems duplex transmission is not at same level as with wired CarPlay (both parties can’t talk at the same time without interruption).
Still waiting for good Fw which will make device usable without major issues.

Freaked me out at first when I saw the flashing red and blue lights--that is very different from the previous firmware flashing LED behavior. Before, the red light was on solid the whole time, and then once the flash was done the blue light would turn on sold, so both red and blue lit simultaneously. That was the cue you could unplug it.

Eager to see if this will allow my Carlinkit to reconnect automatically in the spot where it disconnects. I'm hopeful since that was 2018 Denali's experience. But then again, seems this adapter behaves differently in every car.

Hey guys,
I wanted to update but via OTA it dosent work.
Then i wanted to try via USB downloaded the 6.6 Img and put it in the Adapter but after 20minutes of a red light i though the USB are not recognized. So i unplugged the USB and try another one.
so then the Adapter blinking the red and blue LED.
after a few seconds i lit only blue and dont working anymore even the CarPlay dont work.
Someone know how to get the adapter back to live? :(

Blinking red+blue and then solid blue should be the normal light pattern for a successful flash.

What happens when you plug it into your car's USB port? What light(s) come on?

You can try flashing the 3/4 update to see if that helps (I posted it many pages back).

I don't know about that pattern being accurate though. I never saw a solid blue on mine yet the fact that it finally was able to activate indicates the flash was successful.

Let’s see how firmware 6-17-20 does. Hopefully the audio glitching goes away.

I know, found it that way right after I posted. You beat me before I could edit.

Still doesn't fix my issue with changing songs with my steering wheel controls.

Yeah the audio glitching that happens after about 5 minutes of audio play was not fixed either. 👎

My bad. You're right, it was a solid red light that indicates the flashing process completed.

Happy to confirm 2018 Denali's experience that I can now reconnect a lost session on my car's display screen by tapping the CarPlay icon. With the older firmware it would just take me to the Carlinkit screen that showed my phone's name. To get it to reconnect I used to have to toggle BT and WiFi off and back on.

The other thing it appears to have fixed (for me anyway) is Siri's voice prompts getting slightly cut off. Before, it was "Now playing Kid A by Radioh..." and with this firmware she actually says Radiohead. Obviously a minor thing, but a welcome fix nonetheless.

Only have 15 minutes of experience on the new firmware, so time will tell if it's as stable as 3.04 was. But so far so good. Going to hold off on 6.17 for a while.

I forgot about the cut off... don't really use Siri... not too fond of my equipment talking back.

That issue with reconnecting a lost connection must have been an OEM hardware issue. Never occurred with my Pioneer head unit.

Actually if you leave it alone after a disconnect it will auto reconnect without touching the screen or toggling the Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

Ah nice. Yeah I got impatient and started tapping buttons on the screen. Will try waiting longer tomorrow.

It seems to be an issue with RF interference in the environment. At a certain point in my commute, the wireless connection always gets interrupted and the Airplay connection drops. The same thing is happening to 2018 Denali. Count yourself lucky if you don't drive through any such areas! But keep that in mind if you're ever out driving and lose the Wireless CarPlay connection. If this spot wasn't on my daily commute I never would have picked up on the pattern and would have just blamed the adapter for being buggy.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I was referring to not automatically reconnecting. I had a few run-ins with losing the connection between the adapter and phone due to RF interference but it always reconnected within a few seconds (never officially timed it but never seemed longer than 30 seconds). Once I moved the adapter inside my center console as part of the oem usb cabling, I haven't had a single disconnection.

@CarlinKit Facebook Group is More people with the same problem.
no fix atm :(
i dont want to send it back

Same for me. I don't think a file will be downloaded at all, because the green light on the adapter continues to flash during the download. When I click the "Check for updates" button, an update is tried again and remains stuck at 90%.
Version 01-22 is displayed again today during the update check (Carlinkit USB-C version). So no update was installed.

Something new with 2020.06.17. When my phone connects to the adapter, CarPlay does not automatically take over my Pioneer HU. Instead I stay at my sources screen until I press the CarPlay icon.
